Chapter 301 Don't Touch Me

Chapter 301 Don't Touch Me

Waverly was forced backward with her neck tilted up, retreating step by step under Daniel's grip.

Daniel's leather shoes crushed the bouquet on the floor as he gripped Waverly's neck and stepped into the hospital ward.

He kicked the door shut with a loud bang.

"Waverly? Who's here?"

Benjamin, lying in the hospital bed, heard the commotion and slowly sat up, asking aloud.

When he looked toward the door, he was horrified.

He saw Waverly being choked by Daniel, almost lifted off her feet as she stumbled in.

Waverly clutched at Daniel's hand as her back was shoved against the wall. She couldn't make a sound, her legs struggling, her eyes full of terror.

"Daniel! Daniel, what are you doing? Waverly! Let go of Waverly!"

Benjamin hurriedly jumped down from the hospital bed and rushed forward to help, his expression panicked, anxious, and shocked.

But he wasn't strong enough and couldn't pry away Daniel's hand that was clamping down on Waverly.

Waverly whimpered as tears streamed down her face, dripping onto Daniel's veiny hand.

Daniel frowned, disgust in his eyes.

Waverly couldn't breathe. Her face had turned purple-red, veins bulging on her forehead, her eyes filled with terror.

She also caught the scent of blood on him. Only then did she notice the bloodstains on his white shirt cuffs and the blood on his black suit jacket.

Daniel was like a death-seeking demon, and Waverly felt herself getting closer and closer to death.

Just as Benjamin was shouting angrily, about to rush out and call for help, Daniel finally released her.

Waverly's legs gave out and she collapsed to the floor, coughing miserably.

"Waverly! Quick, get up, let me see."

Benjamin rushed back, crouching down to check on Waverly's condition.

Waverly's flushed red face gradually returned to normal. She lifted her head, coughing intermittently, looking at Daniel in shock.

"Daniel! This is assault. You need to give me an explanation!"

Seeing Waverly recover, Benjamin stood up, pointing at Daniel, his face full of anger and indignation.

Daniel brushed off his hand, as if trying to shake off something dirty, his cold eyes clouded as he spoke.

"Assault? Then what about my wife being held hostage? How should the White family explain that to me?"

Benjamin looked shocked, then visibly angry.

"What hostage? What does this have to do with the White family? If something happened to your wife, go find the perpetrator. What are you doing here throwing your weight around!

Daniel, don't forget that Waverly is your savior, and even Tobias died because of you! What are you doing now? Repaying kindness with revenge?"

Waverly also supported herself against the wall and stood up from the floor.

Her face was still abnormally red, and the five-finger marks on her neck were particularly shocking.

Tears streamed down her face, looking hurt, fragile, and innocent. She leaned on Benjamin, looking at Daniel with a pitiful voice.

"Daniel, are you misunderstanding something? I, I was at Hampton Villa all last night. Besides, I don't even know John. How could I be involved in this?"

Daniel's gaze suddenly sharpened. "How do you know it was John who tried to kidnap Scarlett?"

Waverly's heart skipped a beat. She just realized.

Since Daniel came in, he hadn't mentioned John's name.

But Waverly reacted quickly. She looked at Benjamin. "It was my dad. He cares about Scarlett, so after the incident yesterday, he had someone look into it. Wasn't John also brought in for emergency treatment yesterday?"

Benjamin said in a deep voice, "I told Waverly. Daniel, if you have doubts and think the White family is involved, then show your evidence. Report it to the police and let them investigate. Make the White family have nothing to say! Otherwise, you must apologize to Waverly!"

Benjamin knew Daniel had no evidence. If Daniel really had evidence, he wouldn't be standing here alone—the police would have already come knocking.

So Benjamin was particularly calm, and particularly indignant.

Daniel stared at them, saying coldly, "I don't have evidence, but last night John made his move, Alice happened to fall and went into premature labor, and I was lured away. Isn't all this too much of a coincidence?"

John had just gotten out of prison not long ago. John alone couldn't possibly have this much capability.

Unfortunately, even when Daniel pressed John like that just now, John really didn't know who was behind it.

That person only provided John with money, a hiding place, and assistance, but never showed their face.

The person behind this was very cautious, and their dealings with John had gone through several intermediaries.

But Daniel hadn't come away empty-handed—he just needed a bit more time to investigate.

"Daniel, the bodyguards watching Alice were all your people. Alice's fall was really just an accident. How can you suspect me for no reason because of this?"

Waverly questioned in disbelief.

Her body swayed. Her vocal cords were already injured, and now crying made her voice even more hoarse and hard to recognize.

She covered her neck, silently shedding tears, and continued.

"I've already agreed to go abroad. What more do you want? You're going too far. Did you bring me back just to torture me like this? Even if you deeply love Scarlett, you can't hurt me like this. My heart is made of flesh too."

Daniel looked at her, his icy gaze seeming to soften, as if convinced by her performance.

Daniel closed his eyes briefly and said, "If the investigation clears things up and confirms the White family isn't involved, I'll make amends. But things that have been done can't be perfect. If I find evidence, I absolutely won't let this go!"

He turned and left. The hospital room door closed, and Waverly's legs gave out as she collapsed to the floor again.

She lifted her head, looking at Benjamin in panic.

"What do we do? He suspects the White family..."

But Benjamin was very calm. He gave a cold laugh, sat back on the hospital bed, flicked at the blood on his hospital gown, and interrupted Waverly.

"Panic about what! If he suspects the White family, that's his ingratitude. The White family was destroyed by him, and he still has the nerve to suspect us! Let him investigate. What does this have to do with the White family?"

When Daniel returned to Scarlett's hospital room, it was already half an hour later.

Just as he was about to open the door, the person inside must have heard the sound, and the door suddenly opened.

Daniel was slightly stunned, looking at the figure behind the door as his hands suddenly clenched.

It was Scarlett.

She wore a black dress with a long black trench coat, belted at the waist, and a black hat, standing there supported by Sarah.

The all-black outfit made her small face look even paler, completely bloodless.

Scarlett had been thin-limbed when pregnant with Bunny, and now wearing the coat, her body looked empty and hollow.

Scarlett was dressed for a funeral.

Daniel's expression changed slightly. He frowned and said in a deep voice, "What are you doing? Who told you to get out of bed!"

He stepped forward, instinctively bending down to carry Scarlett back.

Scarlett raised her hand, stepped back, and said in a cold voice.

"Don't touch me. Let's go to court now."
