Chapter 296 A Different Kind of Thrill, Really Want It

Gloria wondered if she'd heard correctly. Had that gentleman really just said that?

In the heat of the moment, Caspian had lost all reason.

All his life he had followed the rules, never once behaving improperly.

He and Gloria were husband and wife now. Being too polite with one another would only make them roommates.

He didn't want to hold back anymore.

He didn't want to pretend anymore, either.

Gloria was straddling his lap. She didn't know what had gotten into Caspian—it was as if he had become a completely different person.

But this version of Caspian had less detachment and more tenderness. His dominance and roughness left her unable to resist.

"Caspian, not here. Someone might see us."

Caspian couldn't care less. He reclined the seat, his fingers slipping inside Gloria's underwear, his gaze carrying an overwhelming pressure. "Be good, Gloria. I really want to have sex right now."

Gloria was losing it. Had Caspian been put under some kind of spell?

But she couldn't think about it—Caspian's kiss was too intense.

His lips moved to Gloria's ear: "So do you want to have sex?"

It wasn't the gentle testing he usually did in bed; instead, it carried a forceful possessiveness.

They took from each other, waves of heat washing over them again and again.

When it was over, Caspian took out wet wipes and carefully cleaned her fingers. The flush hadn't left Gloria's face yet.

She lay against Caspian's disheveled chest, listening to his racing heartbeat. "Caspian, is it because of that person?"

Caspian clearly didn't even care about James, but Milo's appearance had made him violent and uneasy.

"What exactly was in that deal you made back then?"

Why, after all these peaceful years, had that person shown up again?

"It's nothing. It was so long ago. Are you hungry? Let's go eat."

Caspian took Gloria's hand as they got out of the car, their fingers intertwined like a sweet couple.

As it happened, James had arranged to meet some people his grandfather had specially introduced to him today. From a distance, he witnessed this scene.

He felt a bit lost. If he had held her hand like Caspian did back then, and told everyone she was his wife, maybe he and Gloria wouldn't have ended up where they are today.

But life doesn't have what-ifs, does it?

Inside the restaurant, Gloria took off her coat. She'd thrown on a cashmere sweater when going out, and it was somewhat fitted.

Her baby bump was showing.

James saw it from afar, knowing his child was inside.

If they hadn't divorced, Gloria would be sitting in his lap right now, letting him feel the baby and pestering him to pick out a name.

He wanted so badly to hold her and the child.

Gloria didn't notice James's presence. She ordered what she liked, then asked cautiously: "Can I have just a tiny bit of ice cream? Just one taste."

"Okay."

Caspian's mood was much better than before. Thinking about what they'd just done, he realized he really had gone too far.

His years of good upbringing had lost control in that moment.

But it had felt really good.

He'd always looked down on what other men did, but now he'd experienced a different kind of thrill. Caspian seemed to understand a bit.

Gloria had finished ordering a while ago, but noticed Caspian was still lost in thought. She waved her hand in front of his eyes. "What are you thinking about, Caspian?"

Caspian caught her waving hand and kissed the back of it. "Thinking about you."

His voice still carried the huskiness from their passion, sounding incredibly sultry. Gloria blinked, looking demure. "But I'm right here."

Caspian leaned in and whispered something in her ear. Gloria instantly turned bright red with embarrassment.

James watched their interaction. He could clearly feel they were much more natural with each other thanbefore.

In the past, Gloria's feelings for Caspian were more like dependence, and Caspian had been very respectful of her, carefully cherishing Gloria in everything he did. They hadn't really seemed like lovers, much less like husband and wife.

But now, their interaction had clearly changed.

The relationship between Gloria and Caspian was developing rapidly, and shewas driftingfurther and further away from him.

James put away his wishful thinking.

What was he thinking?

Even without Caspian, Gloria wouldn't be with him anymore.

He stopped looking and drank one glass after another.

Gloria got up to use the restroom and came face to face with a familiar person.

Rachel was chewing gum, holding lipstick and about to touch up her makeup. The moment she saw Gloria, she said coldly: "It's you."

Rachel looked more like Nova and hadn't inherited her father's blue eyes.

Gloria glanced at her without speaking. She'd had a miscarriage and didn't want to get into any conflicts that might cause another accident.

She didn't know why this person, who should have been her sister, heldsuch hostility toward her. Gloria had no interest in playing out some drama of sisterly affection, either.

She simply ignored Rachel's presence and prepared to leave. Her silence only made Rachel angrier.

"Bitch, I'm talking to you."

She reached out to grab Gloria, but Gloria grabbed her wrist instead. "You've already been taught a lesson once. Do you want to be taught another one?"

"You..."

Gloria said coldly: "You don't like me, and I'm not interested in you either. Since we haven't had any dealings all these years, we can just keep pretending we don't know each other. Don't come looking for trouble every time you see me. We really don't know each other."

With that, Gloria roughly shook off her hand and quickly left.

But Rachel's gaze inadvertently swept over her belly. She muttered, "Cheap whore, sleeping her way through every man she meets. What, did all the other women on earth disappear? They're all acting like she's put them under some kind of spell. A pregnant slut, and somehow they're all obsessed with her."

Rachel cursed as she finished her makeup, no longer wanting to eat. She went downstairs in her high heels.

A black business car had just arrived downstairs. Rachel softened her expression. "Milo, let's eat somewhere else."

The man in a deep purple shirt inside was resting his chin on one hand, his lips curling up seductively. "Who do you think you are? You think you can just change plans? Eat or don't eat, I don't care. Get lost if you're not eating."

Milo showed no sympathy. Rachel was used to it: "There's a bitch upstairs. You promised my daddy you'd have dinner with me. Otherwise I'll tell..."

Before she could finish, a gunshot rang out. A bullet grazed past her ear.

Rachel's face went pale with fear, and her body froze.

Milo looked up at her. "I really don't like being threatened. What were you saying?"

"I..." Rachel couldn't get a word out; she was paralyzed with fear.

Gloria, who had just come downstairs, also heard the gunshot. Caspian immediately pulled her into his arms, looking around alertly.

The gunshot came from nearby but seemed to have nothing to do with them.

Although Silverlake Springs didn't ban guns, ordinary people couldn't easily obtain firearms. Who was shooting?

He looked toward where the gunshot came from and saw a tall figure in purple. The man was casually carrying his coat over his shoulder.

In weather below freezing, he wore only a shirt with the collar wide open, looking indescribably wild and reckless.

The moment their eyes met, his lips curved into a smirk as he strode over.

It's him!

Gloria instinctively pulled her coat tighter, her fingers gripping Caspian's hand.

Milo stopped in front of her, his gaze moving from her face to Caspian's, his thin lips curling up: "Caspian, long time no see."
