Chapter 80 80
"Calm down please, Bee. We have to keep in touch for the sake of Liam. Just in case anything comes up." Nathan spoke, raising his hands in an attempt to calm her down.
Brooke sucked in a breath. She looked so restless as she turned from side to side. She will open her mouth as if about to speak but no words would come out. She blew out air and combed her hair with her fingers.
"Nathan, I will warn again. I will not entertain any calls from you that do not involve Liam. I am serious about this." Brooke warned again. "Don't plan on getting wild, Nathan."
Nathan had made it clear that he understands and accepted her condition. But she is still hesitant.
Nathan chuckled. "I am very clear of your conditions, Bee. I wasn't planning to get wild." He said the last part with a little smirk on his lips.
Brooke rolled her eyes. "Fine." She said before reading out her personal phone number to him. After Nathan has saved it, she then gives him her work phone, in case of emergencies.
"Got it." Nathan said. A grin plastered on his face. "Thank you Bee. I will cherish your number just as a trophy. Because at this moment, this is even better than a trophy."
Brooke rolled her eyes again. The three were standing at the door, about to leave the Turners residence. Nathan arrived early as promised and Brooke was also ready to leave for the hospital.
Liam couldn't wait to spend the day with his father. He woke up early that morning, even though it was the weekend.
"Liam hasn't had his breakfast. He said he wanted to have it with you." Brooke reported.
Nathan turned to Liam, who was standing by his side. "Is that so, son?" Nathan asked, feeling overwhelmed. He put his hand on Liam's head.
Liam nodded with a smile.
"Then we will have breakfast at the hotel with you, your grandma and I." Nathan sought.
"Grandma? Another grandma?" Liam asked, looking up at his father with gleaming eyes.
"Yes. Another grandma. She is so excited to meet you. She couldn't come with me to pick you up because she is exhausted from taking care of your grandpa at the hospital." Nathan explained.
"I can't wait to see another grandma and grandpa." Liam said.
Brooke smiled. She thought of how Marise reacted to the news of having a grandson. "How does Aunty feel about the news?"
"Oh Bee. You know how my Mom feels about you. She loves you like her own daughter. That has never changed. She couldn't contain herself when I told her about Liam. She can't wait to meet him." Nathan reported.
Brooke smiled. She was expecting that from Aunt Marise. She also knows Nathan's parents love her a lot. She turned to Liam and said,
"Liam sweetie, make sure you take care of your Grandma." Brooke advised.
Liam nodded. "I will, mommy. Bye bye, I will see you tomorrow." He waved and turned to walk out of the door.
"Bye sweetie." Brooke waved too. She then called Nathan's attention, giving him more instructions on what not to do for Liam.
"No too many sweets and no extravagant things. Also, it is not everything he asks for that you will run getting it for him. Reason it first before considering." Brooke continued.
Nathan nodded. "Got it." He said before following Liam.
Brooke also followed them behind to see them off. That was when Nathan reached into the car and brought out a bouquet of roses. He handed it to Brooke.
She gave him a questionable look without reaching for the flowers.
"Please, accept it." Nathan pleaded.
"Why? What are they for?" Brooke questioned him.
"It's my way of saying thank you for all you have done for Liam. He turned out to be a fine young man." Nathan explained. "Please, accept it."
Brooke was hesitant.
"Awwwn.... Mummy, daddy is so nice. He bought you flowers." Liam's voice came from behind Nathan. He was peeping through the care window.
Brooke took the flowers reluctantly. "Thanks. But you don't have to do such a thing again." She warned.
Nathan didn't pay attention to what she said. He was just happy that she accepted it. He finally got into the car and the driver drove out of the house.
Brooke stood and watched them as the car drove away. This is all new to her and she couldn't help but fear for her son. But she has to comfort herself that her son is with his father. Even if she doesn't trust Nathan to care for him well, she can trust his mother to care for her grandson. After all, the woman also took care of her.
She also prepared and left for the hospital.
At the hospital, a woman chased after Brooke. She kept calling until Brooke heard her and stopped.
"I have been looking for you, Doctor Bee." The woman said. "I am glad I finally found you."
"Mrs Ralph, is everything alright?" Brooke asked the woman with concern. She recognised the woman as the wife of a man she performed surgery on a week ago.
"Not exactly. I wanted to see the man that offered to pay for my husband's medical bills." The woman said.
With a frown, Brooke asked. "I thought the hospital had agreed to take your husband into a charity bill? Why do you need to see him again?"
"It's not about the bill, doctor. It's his job. They dismissed him from his job because they couldn't wait for him to recover." Mrs Ralph said. "And that kind man spoke about offering a job. So I wanted to hear from him if the job is still available."
"Oh... Then I will speak to him for you. But I have to tell you though, my friend's work and business is not based here in Emberwood. It is all in Silverbrook." Brooke revealed.
"Silverbrook? That is quite far from here." Mrs Ralph said.
"Yes, that is why I wanted to give you the heads up." Brooke said. "What kind of work does your husband do?"
"He used to be a bodyguard. He went through self defense training for that." Mrs Ralph explained.
Brooke nodded. "Alright, Mrs Ralph. I will talk to my friend about you and see how he can be of assistance to your husband. I know where to find you." She said with a smile.
"Ok, Doctor Bee. Thank you for your help." Mrs Ralph said before bidding goodbye and she left. So did Brooke.
