Chapter 77 77
While the father and son were trying to convince Brooke to let Nathan tuck his son to bed, Ryan was back in Silverbrook.
He is currently at the club that they visit with his friends, trying to numb himself with alcohol and drown his sorrows.
He is seated at the VIP section that him and his friends Nathan and Matt always sat at when they visited the club. Only this time around, he came alone. Matt was in town but he didn't invite him.
He needed to forget his pain. After a couple of drinks, he finally went to the dance floor to find a partner. Someone, who can help him forget his sorrows.
He sighted a sexy girl with a beautiful body swaying her hips on the dance floor. She is dancing together with a man that is not as good looking as he is. He decided to cut in. He knew she would definitely choose him over that other guy.
"Want to have a real dance with a real man?" He asked.
The lady in black dress turned around. Both of them stilled at the sight of each other.
"If it isn't Ryan Ronald's, the playboy prince." The girl said, putting a hand on her waist.
Ryan smirked before saying, "well well well.... Nicole, right? Brooke's friend. What are you doing here?"
Nicole scoffed. She first stepped away from her previous dance partner and gave Ryan her attention. "Yes it's Nicole and point of correction, Brooke's best friend." She clarified. With a shrug, she added. "Isn't it obvious, I am here to have some fun. What are you here?"
The two began to dance slowly together while talking.
"Wait.... Don't tell me you did it again. Did you confess your love to Bee again?" She asked.
"Why would you think that?" Ryan asked, even though he wondered why she concluded on that.
Nicole rolled her eyes. "Oh please.... The last time you were here you did the same thing. You confessed your love to her and got rejected. So you came here all by yourself to drown your rejected ass."
"Hw- how did you know that?" Ryan asked.
"I talked with Bee the next day and she told me. So I did the math." Nicole said.
Ryan recalled how Nicole is a regular at the club. So it is no surprise if she was in the club the last time. "Right." He said, not wanting to argue. "Want something to drink?" He offered.
"I don't mind. As long as you are paying." Nicole said with a shrug. She began walking to the VIP section, where Ryan was sitting earlier.
The two had a couple of drinks as they chatted. Ryan began to tell her what had happened this time around in Emberwood. How Liam has become more and more curious about his father. Then Nathan also showed up somehow and found Brooke.
"So you are right. Bee rejected me again but this time it's worse. Nathan is back in the picture and he knows about Liam. He will probably visit him anytime soon." Ryan said.
"Oh..." Nicole said. She picked up her drink and gulped it down. "I guess I will speak with Bee soon. Prepare my apology to her."
"You know, Nicole, I have always wondered. I might have my personal reasons for keeping things from Bee. But I can't help but think about what could possibly be your own excuse." Ryan reasoned. "When didn't you ever mention to Bee that Nathan was looking for her like crazy?"
Nicole sighed and looked away. She dropped the empty glass in her hand. "From the beginning, I was angry at what Nathan did to my best friend. She was hurt and it hurts me too to see her in that condition."
"I was angry at Nathan for that but as time went by, I saw another side of him. I once tried telling Bee but doctor Turner warned me. I didn't want to lose my friend, so I did as her father asked."
"The first few years that Bee was gone, Nathan kept coming to me and asking about her. He will show up at my work. Sometimes ask me out for coffee. All In an attempt to get information of where Brooke was?"
"My colleagues at work began to tease me. That we looked good together. Their teasing somehow got into my head." Nicole looked back at Ryan before saying the last part. "I am ashamed to say this but..... I began to like Nathan."
"What the hell!" Ryan exclaimed. "You are really messed up."
Nicole narrowed her eyes at him. "Oh really! You of all people get to say that to me!?" She let out a breath.
"It is all over now. When Nathan realized he wasn't going to get any information from me, he finally gave up. And whatever it was that I thought I felt, died down. I realized it was the attention I was getting that I began to like so much."
"What bothers me now is the fact that I still don't have the guts to tell Bee. It keeps haunting me. Brooke the years went by, I saw how she gradually became over Nathan and moved on. She became happy and I didn't want to bring up anything that might change that. I figured she is better off without Nathan." Nicole adjusted her sitting position.
"I didn't want to disturb the new peace she found. Her and her son were happy. They had all the love they needed surrounding them. I liked that for her. But what I failed to consider was the longing of a child for his father."
"I was mostly worried about her feelings and didn't consider what Liam would feel. When he realizes he is supposed to have two parents." Nicole reached for the drink that was brought. She gulped down half of it in a go.
The two were silent for a moment. Having their own private thoughts before Ryan spoke again.
"Nicole, what do you think of Bee's feelings towards Nathan? Do you think she still has feelings for him?”
