Chapter 57 57
"The doctor in charge, Doctor Patel has already left for the day. Please bear with us." A nurse spoke to Mrs Leo. After checking the monitor and making sure everything is working fine. “Your patient will be assigned an attending doctor tomorrow.” She added with a soft smile towards Marise.
Marise nodded as she fixed her eyes on her sleeping husband.
The nurse pointed to a button by the side of the bed. "You may press this button if you need anything. I will be here as soon as possible."
"Thank you...."
"Bridget." The nurse said, realizing she didn't introduce herself. "I will be his attending nurse."
"Thank you, nurse Bridget. You can call me Marise or Sam for short." Mrs Leo said with a sad smile.
The nurse soon excused herself and left the room.
The Leo's did not waste anymore time in Silverbrook. They have decided to take Mr Leo to Emberwood. They soon got the confirmation of his admission there. Arrangement was made to transport him there. Nathan hired an air ambulance to transport them. In no time, they arrived and settled in the private suite of the hospital.
Some tests have to be runed. Robert will also be under observation before any further procedures of the surgery.
Soon, Mrs Scooter walked into the room. She went to get them something to eat. Although Nathan said he wasn't hungry.
"Son, since Rose is back, why don't you go to the hotel and settle our things in? You also need to rest." Marise suggested it to her son, who looked tired. Although she knows it is not only the stress of his father's illness but also his personal issues.
It was the reason Nathan brought Mrs Scooter along with them. So that she could assist his mother in taking care of his father. Also, if there is a need to go get food and other stuff. Nathan might need to go attend to some of his business.
"Ok, mom. I will be back tomorrow morning with food." Nathan said. He walked to his father and pecked on his forehead. He then walked to his mother and pecked her on the head as well.
Nathan soon left the room after saying goodnight to his parents and Mrs Scooter. He noticed something different in the hallway of the hospital. It seems everyone is in a rush, running up and down. He also noticed some injured persons were rushed into the hospital.
"There has been an accident on the highway."
"It was a big truck that collided into a car and two more cars behind it."
"I think two people are dead but most others are seriously injured."
"It's so sad."
Nathan heard people talking as he walked by. He understood the situation on ground. It made sense why everyone seems to be in a rush, especially the hospital workers.
"Code blue at the emergency room."
"Code blue at the emergency room." An announcement came through speakers in the hospital. Some nurses rushed towards the announcement.
Names of some doctors were also called to report to the emergency section of the hospital. Nathan understood a patient must be in a critical condition at the moment.
He got into the elevator and so did some nurses. Each flower they went to, one or two people walked into the elevator. People were still talking about the accident in the elevator.
Soon, the elevator got to the ground floor and Nathan stepped out. He called the hotel driver that his assistant had booked and set everything for them. He told the driver he was heading out of the hospital.
Another announcement that came from the hospital caught his attention.
"Doctor Bee, you are needed at the emergency room."
"Doctor Bee, you are needed in the emergency room."
Nathan couldn't move a muscle from where he stood.
"Doctor Bee? Doctor Bee?" He repeated. "Could it be my Brooke?" He asked no one in particular.
He began to look around. His heart kept beating faster. With all the noise in the hospital, all Nathan could hear was the announcement calling after Doctor Bee.
'What are the odds that it would be her?' Nathan thought to himself. Without realizing, he began to walk in the direction he saw some nurses rushing towards.
He asked for the emergency room on that floor. He was still pointed towards the same direction he was going already.
He arrived at the emergency room looking around, trying to find her.
"Sir, are you related to any of the patients here?" One of the nurses in the emergency room asked. "Sir, please I need you to step out to the waiting area. More patients are being brought in." The nurse requested, pointing to the exit for Nathan.
Nathan couldn't compare what the nurse was saying. He only had one mission at heart. To find Brooke amongst the crowd if she is the one. He hoped she was.
"Sir, please I need you to step out." The nurse repeated. A little louder than before.
It took some seconds before Nathan realized the nurse was talking to him. He looked at her briefly, dumbfounded before turning his attention to others.
'Is she here?'
The nurse has to repeat herself for the third time before Nathan realizes what the nurse was saying. He stepped out of the emergency room. He stood among other people, who are relatives of the people in the ER.
He stood there waiting, looking out and hoping. 'Bee, if you are here please show yourself.' Nathan prayed and hoped in silence.
Soon, a lady came rushing towards the emergency room. She had a mask on and a scrub uniform. Her blonde hair is neatly tied in a bun. Then her brown eyes sparkle. They looked so familiar. They felt so familiar.
Nathan's heart beat faster. The lady might be covered in her work clothes but he cannot fail to recognise her.
It is obviously Brooke. His ex-wife. He has finally found her in the strangest way possible.
After looking for her for so many years, without any luck and finally giving up. Just to find her in a hospital, during an emergency time.
"Bee?" Nathan finally finds his words. His voice came out low and shaky.
