Chapter 34 34
Nathan walked into the administrative building of the hospital. The administrative head was with someone in his office. They were having a discussion. But Nathan couldn't wait. He barged in and asked the person, who seemed to be a nurse, to leave immediately. She did as she was told without hesitation and Nathan went straight to the point.
"You mean to tell me that Doctor Turner resigned? When did that happen and why?" Nathan asked the administrative head of the hospital.
"Yes, Mr Leo. He insisted on resigning with immediate effect. It wasn't easy on our side but we had no choice but to let him go." Doctor Joshua said.
"Where exactly did he say he was moving to?" Nathan asked.
"He didn't mention it. But even if he did, you know I can't tell you that. That is confidential." The doctor south.
"What! Do you have any idea who I am?" Nathan was now getting angry. This place was his last hope of finding out where Brooke could possibly be. But then it is turning out to be hopeless as well.
"I know exactly who you are, Mr Leo. I also know the power and influence your family has in Silverbrook. But I am professional. I know the difference between right and wrong. I follow the rules." Doctor Joshua said back.
"I am sorry but I can't help you at this moment. All I was aware of was that, doctor Turner said he needs to get his daughter away from this city. That was exactly what he did."
"What about his patients?" Nathan asked. Now his voice was calmer a little, knowing he can't really have his way with the man he is looking at.
"They had to be reassigned to new doctors. And some of them left the hospital. I don't have much knowledge of the details but that is what I know." Doctor Joshua said.
Moments later, Nathan is out of the hospital. It was raining when he dragged himself out of the building. He was getting soaked in the rain but that was the last thing on his mind as he was lust in his thoughts.
It is becoming too real that Brooke is gone. She really left Silverbrook. Just when he finally admitted he missed her, that is when he finds out she is no longer close to him.
"Sir.... Sir, please get in the car. It's raining heavily and you might get sick." His driver spoke.
The driver's voice brought him out of his trail of thoughts.
Nathan slowly got into the car. He then turned to the box of dress that was meant for Brooke.
'Would I ever see Bee in this?'
'Would I ever see her again?'
'What if I don't see her again?'
'What am I going to do then?'
Nathan kept asking himself. He just couldn't believe Brooke had the courage to leave him.
The Brooke he knew couldn't just leave him that easily. Maybe this time around, he really pushed her to the edge. Maybe her different encounters with Keren forced her to give up on him. On them. And now, she finally had the courage and left him for good.
"Sir, you are completely soaked and you might get sick in these clothes. Should I take you back to the villa?" The driver asked with concern for his boss's well being.
"Not yet. Take me to Silverbrook university." Nathan ordered.
He knows he is not going to find Doctor Turner there, but he could get more reliable information there. Doctor Turner is one of the founders of the university and a shareholder.
Even if he has left the city, it will be close to impossible to sell his shares in a month.
Minutes passed before they arrived at the university. Nathan wasted no time as he got out and straight to the dean's office.
But to his dismay, the response remained the same as he got the whole day from everyone.
"I am sorry, Mr Leo, but I don't know because Dr Turner did not share that piss of information with anyone. Even if he did, I can't share that with you." The dean answered.
Nathan let out a frustrated groan. "His shares. He still has his shares, right? He cannot easily have gotten a buyer." He asked. Thinking that would be a clue for Turners to return eventually.
The Dean frowned in confusion. He believed this is information that Nathan must have known.
"He sold it. I thought you would know this. He easily sold it and your father was the one who bought it." The Dean revealed.
"What!?" Nathan asked. He was shocked by the piece of information. "How come I wasn't aware of that?" He asked.
Nathan left the building in a hurry. So his parents knew all along but they didn't bother to say a thing to him!?
"Take me to the Leo mansion." Nathan ordered immediately he got into the car.
His driver answered and began to drive.
Nathan sat restless at the back seat of his car. At that moment, he is foaming in anger. He couldn't believe his parents left him in the dark. They knew all along. He partly blamed them for their actions but mostly, he blamed himself. He is the one that started it all. He is the reason everything is happening the way it is happening.
'What have I done? What have I done to myself?' Nathan asked himself in silence.
He remained restless and kept tapping his feet as he was driven to his parents mansion. He felt the ride was too slow. He couldn't wait to get there.
He thought of calling his father on the phone but that wouldn't do. He wanted to see the reaction on his father's face for the betrayal he felt. He feels so betrayed for being left in the dark for this whole time.
Twenty-five minutes passed and they finally arrived. Before the car got to a complete stop, Nathan was already out of the car. He stormed towards the entrance of the mansion.
"Did you know?"
