Chapter 102 102
The two families had lunch at Leo's. It brought back a lot of good memories. But now, it is even better. They both had a grandson they shared.
"I have five million in my account at the moment. I can at least pay back some money for the house you bought-" Brooke began to speak but Nathan was quick to stop her.
"Bee, please. I already told you. Getting your estate back is my gift to you and your family. It is my way of sincerely apologizing for what had happened all those years back." He said.
It was after they all had lunch, Nathan's lawyers arrived with the documents that needed to be signed. The documents that will prove the transfer of Turners' mansion back to Turners.
Jack insisted Brooke sign the documents, so that the house will be in her name. After all, she is their only daughter. It was bound to happen to everything they have. So there was no need to make the process longer again since an opportunity has presented itself.
"But I just feel -"
"No, Bee. Please let it be. After all, it would all later on be passed down to Liam. He is also my son." Nathan reminded her.
Brooke then went ahead to sign the papers. Now, there is one more to be signed. Which is for Liam's change of name. The family has had the talk about that as well during their meal. It was also agreed upon to get it done.
A few days later
Since the Turners visited Silverbrook. They have been chatting with Robert and Marise often. The presence of Liam was adding more fun to their conversations and video calls.
Nathan also has been regularly speaking to Liam, especially before he goes to bed. Sometimes, he gets caught up at work that he would pass Liam's bedtime. But he made sure to inform Brooke about it early.
The responsibility of organizing the organ donor's list that was given to Brooke. It has now been lifted off her shoulders. It is now back to her father's responsibility, since he is back at the hospital.
Brooke is now back to her usual daily routine, especially since no threat had presented itself at her. However, the presence of her bodyguards still remained. They took turns escorting Brooke to work and Liam to school. It was Nathan, who insisted they continue with their jobs.
Brooke walked to an office door. She knocked before walking into the office. "You wanted to see me father?" She asked after walking into her father's office.
"Yes dear." Jack said as he stopped what he was doing all together. "The mayor is hosting a party. He is inviting medical directors from reputable hospitals. You know the mayor's family are well to do and they have businesses all over the city. I heard they are now looking for good hospitals to fund."
"I am supposed to represent the hospital, as they have selected me to do so."Jack continued. "However, it is all those fancy dinners in fancy outfits that I do not have the strength to endure anymore."
"Doctor Patel was the second option but he is on leave since I resumed. Now it is up to you, my dear. I want you to please attend the party at my place. And there is nothing to worry about. You won't be alone." He added.
"You mean the bodyguards?" Brooke asked.
Jack shook his head. "No, not the bodyguards. Someone, who also got an invitation to the mayor's party." He added the last part looking at the entrance of the office.
Brooke also turned her attention to the door and was met with her supposed plus one to the mayor's party.
"Ryan. You are in town. When did you come into town?" Brooke asked with a smile.
Ryan walked in with a bouquet of roses in his hand. "It's good to see you, Bee. I came in just this afternoon. For the party and of course potential business partners." He said, handing the bouquet to Brooke. They embraced each other. "How have you been?"
"I have been well. You?" Brooke answered.
"The same, Bee." Ryan added. He then turned to Jack and greeted him as well.
"I don't think you would have any problem of insecurity or possible threat at the mayor's party. There will be security in and out. Plus, the party is strictly on invitation." Jack explained.
"So I figured since Ryan is going, you should go together and you won't be alone there."
"You have knowledge of my work and the hospital. So when it is time for a speech, you would know what to say." He added.
Soon, Jack's phone began to ring. He answered the call and then he excused himself. "You two should stay here and make your plans for the party. I have to go now to attend to some work." He then exits the office, leaving Brooke and Ryan behind.
Brooke let out a hot breath after her father left the office and closed the door. She hasn't met with Ryan since their last awkward conversation. When he confessed his feelings again.
Brooke has tried to minimize the number of times they talked on the phone. She answers out of respect for him sometimes and then when it is about insurance coverage. She doesn't have much choice on that part but to answer.
"So ... How have you been?" Brooke asked, not sure where to start the conversation.
"I have been doing ok and keeping myself busy as well." Ryan replied. "I have kept myself busy at our new extension to other countries and I have been spending a few times with Nicole. She said she meant to talk to you about certain things."
Brooke nodded in acknowledgement. "I meant to talk to her as well but I still couldn't find the time." She then sat down on the chair close to her. "Have you and Nathan patched things up?"
Ryan shook his head. "We haven't talked. I don't think there is anything left to patch up. He said he would come after me. That was since the time we met at Liam's school but he hasn't yet." He also sat on the chair opposite to Brooke. "I think I am officially out of my boys club as well."
"Why do you say that?" Brooke asked with a bit of concern.
"I think Nathan is avoiding me completely and Matt is also not talking to me. The few times we met at the club, if I talked to him, he only shook his head. The usual conversation we used to have as friends is no longer there." Ryan explained.
