Chapter 100 100
He leaned closer to her face, looking into her eyes.
"Do you feel better?" Nathan asked again when Brooke did not answer him at first.
Brooke pulled her hand away from Nathan. This time around, she succeeded. "Th- thank you." She muttered and turned immediately. She began to walk in the direction of where Liam was. "Be careful there sweetie." Sha called out.
"Oh, Nathan. The paintings might be different from the old ones. But they are absolutely breathtaking. I love them." Samantha remarked with a smile reaching from ear to ear.
They continued to tour the house. From the living and to every single bedroom on the first floor. The placing of the furniture too. Almost everything was in the way they remembered. Even though some have changed, they are placed in the same position as the old ones. It brought smiles to each and every of their faces. It was bringing back happy memories.
"Sweetie, this used to be my bedroom." Brooke said, standing at the doorway of a room.
"It still looks the same." Said Samantha. She walked into the room and went to the curtains of the room. She felt the fabric. "The fabric seems to be better than the last one though." She remarked.
Jack was not paying attention to them. He has his attention on a portrait in his study. It is a picture of him in his doctor's outfit. He stood tall and proud. His hand crossed over his chest and his chin raised up.
Nathan noticed Jack, staring at his portrait on the wall. He followed Jack into the study. "Father has the same picture and that is what I used. I took it and enlarged it. Then framed it. I tried to make it look exactly like the one that was there before, but I couldn't find one. Only a similar one." Nathan explained.
"It looks great." Was Jack's comment. He gave Nathan a little pat on the shoulder and a smile.
The tour around the house continued. It lasted for another hour as they went on with it. Samantha and Jack kept talking about some old memories in the mansion. So did Brooke as well.
It was already nine in the morning. Soon, they were greeted with the scent of freshly prepped breakfast. Pancakes, bacon, toast. It made them realize that they haven't had breakfast.
"Maybe we should have breakfast now. The maids have prepared varieties. I am famished." Nathan said, putting a hand on his stomach.
"I am hungry too." Samantha said.
"Me too, daddy." Liam called.
They all walked to the table and settled. They began with their meal. While eating, they continued to tell Liam stories about the mansion. Unknowingly, sparking Liam's interest about moving to Silverbrook the more.
"When your mommy was little, she loved to run around the surroundings. Most times, she will hide and it will be hard for us to find her." Samantha said.
"I had a special spot that it was hard for them to find me. If it is still there, I will show it to you later after breakfast." Brooke revealed.
"I remember having that spot specially built for Bee." Jack added.
"You are referring to the evergreen land, right?" Liam asked. "It is still there. I just had the area trimmed recently. I am sure you are going to love it, Liam." He added, smiling at his son.
Liam listened to all the tales that he was told without interest. He thought of how it is going to be so much fun running around the places his mother did when she was young. Plus, the mansion was much bigger than their home back in Emberwood. Liam had to ask. "That is amazing. So when are we moving in? I already love it here and I can't wait to move here. Mommy, when are we moving here?" He asked again with excitement.
"We? Moving here? Arrh" Brooke began but didn't know what she should tell her son. She looked at her father, silently asking for his help with her eyes.
Jack first looked at Liam, then at Nathan. He could see the same question lingering in his eyes. He then turned back to Liam. "Liam son, you have a lot back on Emberwood. Your school, teachers, classmates and friends that you will miss. You still have some months of school as well before the school year ends. Beside that, your mommy and I also have our jobs there at Emberwood hospital. You can't just miss school and we cannot also just leave our jobs." He reasoned.
As Nathan listened to Jack's explanation, his eyes became hopeful. His heart screamed with joy as he jumped to conclusion on what Jack meant by his words. However, his excitement was soon shut down when Jack spoke again.
"So because of the reasons I gave, we can make this our vacation home for now. We can come here on holidays and maybe weekends too. But Emberwood will still be out."
"Oh." Liam expressed his sadness and his face didn't fail to show his dismay either. "Only on vacations?" He asked.
"Yes, on vacation for now." Jack confirmed. "For now, only vacations, let's see how it goes afterwards." He then turned to Nathan, who also stayed quiet, as if trying to digest Jack's words.
"I hope that is ok with you too, Nathan." He asked.
"Just on vaccinations?" Nathan repeated, not able to hide his dismay as well.
"Yes, Nathan. As I have said earlier, Liam has school and we have jobs to go to. So on school breaks and sometimes on weekends." He explained again.
The others too have their attention on Nathan. He swallowed his own spew. But then he thought, there was nothing for him to complain about at that moment.
For so many years, he had wanted to at least set eyes on Brooke but he couldn't even figure out her location. Now, she is back in his life plus another gift, a son. So he really has no much to complain about. Seeing them on weekends and holidays is a gift at the moment. What he has to do now is to cherish those moments.
