Chapter 216 Identity Exposed
Chapter 216 Identity Exposed
Hearing Molly continue to call her a bitch, Scarlett felt anger building inside her like a volcano about to erupt. If she weren't being held at gunpoint by Stanley right now, she would have loved nothing more than to tear Molly's mouth apart.
"What I'm saying makes perfect sense. If you don't believe me, you can ask Mr. Howard whether I'm right or not."
Molly became even more furious at Scarlett's words, even jumping up to grab at Scarlett's hair.
"You bitch, I want to kill you right now!"
Molly's sudden movement caused the car to swerve violently. The two women in the back seat were startled and quickly pulled Molly back down. If they didn't die at the end of Stanley's gun, they might end up dying in a car crash instead.
Scarlett's grip tightened on the steering wheel. Without turning around, she said coldly, "In this situation, the more hostages we have, the safer we are. If you want to live, you'd better keep your mouth shut."
"Who the hell do you think you are!" Molly was shaking with rage. "If you weren't driving, we would have escaped already! You're doing this on purpose, trying to get us all killed!"
As Molly cursed, she reached out to hit the back of Scarlett's head. Just then, Stanley suddenly turned his gun toward Molly, his eyes ice-cold. "Shut up! Say one more word and I'll pull the trigger!"
Molly's movement froze instantly. Staring at the gun barrel pointed at her, her face went deathly pale, and tears streamed down her cheeks. "Uncle, why are you taking her side? I'm your family!"
"I don't care who you are. Right now, she's making sense." Stanley's voice held no warmth whatsoever. "The more hostages we have, the more the police will hesitate. That increases our chances of getting out alive. If you cause any more trouble, don't blame me for not being merciful."
Molly fell into complete despair. She collapsed back into her seat, crying and muttering curses at Scarlett under her breath, but not daring to speak loudly. Celeste hugged Molly protectively, gently patting her back and whispering words of comfort, her eyes filled with helplessness and terror.
The car fell into temporary quiet, with only Molly's suppressed sobs breaking the silence.
Olivia leaned against the window, but her gaze remained fixed on Scarlett. Something about this driver seemed off, especially that brief smile that had curved Scarlett's lips earlier—though it had vanished quickly, Olivia found it strangely familiar.
She racked her brain trying to remember, and suddenly a blurry figure became crystal clear in her mind. It was Scarlett! That actress who had once framed her and later fled the country illegally to avoid arrest.
Olivia sat up straight, abruptly, and shouted, "You're Scarlett!"
The words hit the car like a thunderbolt.
Celeste and Molly instantly stopped crying and stared at Scarlett's silhouette in shock.
Stanley was also stunned for a moment, turning to look at Scarlett. "You're Scarlett?"
Scarlett didn't answer immediately. She slowly turned her head, a sinister smile spreading across her face. "I'm surprised you remember me, Olivia. Your memory is quite good."
"It really is you!" Celeste's expression darkened. "What are you doing here? What do you want?"
"What do I want?" Scarlett let out a cold laugh. "I want the Howard family to pay for what you've done! Every single one of you Howards is so damn arrogant—I wonder if you'll end up in heaven or hell."
Molly cowered behind Celeste, her voice tearful. "We never did anything to you! Leave us alone!"
"Never did anything to me?" Scarlett's eyes turned vicious. "Don't you know what Jacob did to me? And you, Celeste—remember how you humiliated me when Matthew had his allergic reaction? You made my entire family leave this country. You have to pay for your arrogance."
Stanley looked at Scarlett, suddenly remembering something. He frowned and asked, "The bomb at the gala—did you plant it?"
Scarlett didn't deny it, admitting openly, "Yes, I planted it. I originally planned to detonate it during the gala and kill all the Howards inside, but some bastard discovered my bomb and caused chaos at the scene. It also made me grab the wrong car keys, which wasted precious time."
The atmosphere in the car grew even tenser. Celeste and Molly trembled all over, and Olivia clenched her fists tightly, watching Scarlett with wary eyes.
Scarlett turned to look at Stanley, a calculating gleam in her eyes. "Stanley, I know you're at the end of your rope, and it'll be hard to escape. I have a proposition—if you help me kill these three women in the back seat, I have a way to get both of us out of this country safely. I guarantee you'll be secure and never have to worry about police pursuit again."
Hearing that Scarlett actually wanted to kill all the hostages, Celeste, Molly, and Olivia all felt their hearts tighten with fear.
Celeste quickly spoke to Stanley. "Stanley, don't listen to her! She's insane. She wants us all dead! You can't trust her!"
Molly chimed in desperately, "Uncle, please don't agree to this! We're your family—you can't kill us!"
Olivia watched Stanley, her eyes full of wariness, but remained silent. She knew that no amount of pleading would help now—Stanley was backed into a corner and might very well agree to Scarlett's proposal.
Scarlett just smiled coldly without saying another word. She was confident that, given Stanley's ruthless nature, he might actually choose her offer.
