Chapter 239

Chapter 239

Elena suddenly turned her head to see Marco striding over with purpose, clearly having jogged here as his breathing was somewhat irregular, with Angelo following closely behind.

"What happened?"

Marco?

Before Elena could react to how he had gotten here, Marco was already walking straight toward her, checking her entire body.

When he saw the broken skin on her hands, Marco held his breath, the atmosphere around him suddenly freezing as his anger surged, his face filled with fury. "Who did this?"

The man was still cursing: "So this is your pretty boy lover, huh? What's so special about him besides being tall? I could knock out two guys like him with one punch!"

"Enough!" The police couldn't contain their anger anymore. "If you keep being uncooperative like this, I'm going to arrest you!"

"How am I not cooperating? As long as this woman pays up, everything's fine. If she doesn't pay, let me tell you," the man sneered sinisterly, "I have plenty of ways to find out where you live. Don't blame me for being impolite when the time comes - I'm capable of doing anything."

This was a blatant threat.

Marco's gaze grew colder bit by bit as he shielded Elena behind him, his lips curving into a cold smile. "Want to know where I live? That's not difficult at all - no need for special channels. Just ask anyone from Moretti Group and they can tell you."

"Moretti Group?" The man's eyelid twitched and his expression suddenly changed. Of course he knew Moretti Group - everyone in New York knew it. He forced a laugh: "What are you pretending for? Why would people from Moretti Group know your address? What are you supposed to be?"

Marco also smiled without answering, his dark eyes filled with coldness. Angelo was making a phone call nearby, and after ending it, he walked over to tell Marco: "People are coming right away."

"What for?" The man couldn't help raising his voice. "You want to hit me, don't you? You dare! This is a society ruled by law, the police are right here. If you do something illegal, aren't you afraid of being arrested and thrown in jail?"

Marco said calmly: "You misunderstood. I'm just arranging for someone to check the damage to your car, to see if it can still be repaired. If it can't be repaired, I'll compensate you with a new one."

The man definitely didn't believe it, and the woman beside him uneasily tugged at his sleeve. This Marco had eyes like knives, a noble bearing, and his clothing alone was worth the price of a car - clearly someone not to be trifled with.

The woman whispered: "Maybe we should just forget it. We were in the wrong to begin with. If the police really investigate and find out it's our fault, it definitely won't end well for us. Let's just apologize and leave."

The man understood this too. The reason he kept making threats was to intimidate Elena, but this man in front of her wasn't afraid at all - instead, he seemed to be looking at a clown.

He took a breath and changed his attitude: "Forget it, brother. I have things to do, so I won't keep arguing with you. No need to trouble the police either. I'll just consider this my bad luck. Let's make a big thing small and a small thing nothing. Let's all disperse."

After speaking, the man pushed the woman toward the car.

"Did I say you could leave?"

Suddenly, a cold questioning voice came from behind. The man turned around to meet eyes filled with icy coldness and an oppressive presence that made it hard to breathe.

In an instant, the man's body stiffened, completely intimidated by Marco, but unwilling to back down in front of everyone, especially with police present. He pointed at Marco's nose and glared: "Getting too big for your britches, aren't you? What are you supposed to be? I'll leave when I want to leave. What do you want to do? Got the guts to fight?"

Before he finished speaking, a figure approached, and his arm suddenly experienced sharp pain. Before the man could cry out in pain, his abdomen received a violent blow, as if his internal organs were being crushed together.

"Ah!"

The man painfully vomited acid water, his face contorted as he knelt on the ground gasping for air. It took him a long time to recover, his face pale as he looked at the man before him, whose gaze was like a knife, scaring him into quickly questioning the police: "He hit someone! He hit someone! You police, what are you good for! Someone's hitting people and you're not doing anything about it?"

These police had long been fed up with this man who had no real ability but only knew how to make noise. Moreover, this man was truly blind not to recognize Marco.

If Marco wanted to hit him, he should be grateful. If Marco had politely allowed him to leave, that's when he should have been truly afraid.

The police remained silent, and the man was truly scared now. He quickly got up from the ground to make a phone call, his teeth chattering as he threatened: "You wait for me! I'm calling my brothers over to deal with you one by one! And you police too! Are you all just eating for nothing and not doing your jobs? I'm reporting all of you!"

He was making the call, but before it could connect, a car suddenly arrived from behind. Not many people got out, but the leading man approached and first greeted Marco: "Mr. Moretti."

Then, looking the car up and down with disdain: "Second-hand goods, refurbished. Could this be worth three hundred thousand when bought?"

The man huddled with his wife, hiding behind the police: "What do you want to do!"

"Don't be afraid, I'm a mechanic. Mr. Moretti asked me to come fix your car. After all, when there's business to discuss, we don't need to trouble the police." David smiled playfully. "Officer, leave this to us. We'll handle compensation privately."

The police really did leave. When the man heard that person address Marco as "Mr. Moretti," his mind was spinning frantically, and combined with Moretti Group, his face instantly turned white as a sheet.

Had he kicked an iron plate?

No wonder these police were indifferent. Looking at Marco again, even his watch was worth around five hundred thousand - everything became clear in his mind.

"Big brother, big brother, I was blind and foolish. Please spare my life!" The man was almost kneeling on the ground begging for mercy. However arrogant he had been before, now he was tucking his tail between his legs and acting submissive. "I admit it was my fault. I don't want compensation anymore. I'll leave right now!"

"Of course there needs to be compensation!" David immediately disagreed. "Otherwise, what am I here for?"

Before the man could manage a bitter expression, David said: "Look at this headlight, this rear cover - sixty thousand in compensation isn't too much, is it?"

"What?" Before the man could react, the woman was about to faint.
