chapter 145 contd
“Yes it is the truth. I lied about my status because I loved you Sabrina. I was loyal to you when you weren't loyal to anyone and what did you do to me? You ran back to Declan when you saw me for who I really was. You were a desperate woman and you were ready to dump your mistakes on top of someone else's shoulders.” Liam expressed as Sabrina's face twisted with rage.
“Don’t you dare judge me.” she warned.
“I don't really need to judge you because your actions speak for themselves. You have spent your life chasing wealth, hopping from one man to another instead of working your ass off. You call it survival, but I call it prostitution, desperateness, and greed.” He said and the room trembled with tension that I could barely breathe. Then I turned to look at Sabrina.
“So it is true that Ethan isn't mine and he never was? Stop lying Sabrina. It is time for you to tell the truth” I said.
“Fine Declan. I am going to tell the truth. And the truth is that Ethan is not yours. He is Liam's. Are you happy now?” she confessed and my heart twisted in agony.
I pressed my hands to my face as I dragged them down slowly. For four years, I had poured my soul into that boy. For four years I had been his father in every way but not blood.
“Declan.”’Isabella called out my name as she touched my arm gently. I shook my head as tears burned my eyes.
“Do you know what this means to me? For four years, my life revolved around Ethan. And it was all built on a lie that you created, Sabrina. How evil and wicked of you.”
“I am sorry Declan. I should have fought harder, I should have exposed her to you when I knew about her intentions but I didn't because I loved her. And because of her evil intentions you got to suffer for it.” Liam said and his voice was laced with guilt.
Liam was apologizing to me even when he never had anything to do with this whole matter but the person who was the main root of this matter never said anything.
If there was anything I had known Sabrina for then it was definitely going to be pride. She was always so proud to know that she was wrong and be remorseful about everything.
But I didn't want any of that because even if she was remorseful and apologized for her mistakes. I wasn't going to forgive her easily. I wouldn't give Sabrina my forgiveness, because she didn't deserve it; she only deserved hatred from me and from the people around me.
“You may be Ethan's biological father but you cannot also deny the fact that I was his father for some years. I loved him and I raised him as my own son. He deserves to know the truth and he also deserves to be with you. And that doesn't erase what I feel for him because I will always care for Ethan.” I said as Liam's eyes softened at me.
“That means more than you know to me.” Liam said and I wiped my face off and straightened my body.
“I will set up a trust fund for him and it will be enough to secure his education and his future. If it is not enough, I will definitely provide for more. He may not be my son by blood, but he's not going to lack as long as I breathe.” I aired out.
“Thank you Declan. I…I really don't deserve your generosity.” Liam said as his lips trembled and I shook my head at him.
“It is not about you. It is about Ethan.” I voiced out as Sabrina looked between us and her face twisted with fury. I know for a fact that she was thinking about a lot of things to do but unfortunately for her she won't be able to do anything this time around because I will make sure that she's left powerless.
She realized that the ground beneath her had crumbled and she had no more lies to stand on. She had no more lies to use and deceive anyone. She was a deceiver, a desperate woman, an unfaithful woman. In fact whenever it came to using bad words, Sabrina will be the perfect example to use all of those bad words on her because she portrayed all the traits.
Isabella intertwined her fingers with mine. For the first time after a long while I felt like maybe the nightmare in my life was finally ending.
But my heart still ached in my chest because no matter what the DNA test report said, in my soul, Ethan would always be my son.
