chapter 132

chapter 134
Declan's POV.

My house has never felt so empty since I got used to having Isabella around. I tried so hard but I couldn't even ask ever since she left me all alone to myself.

Every night that I want to sleep I would always be awake staring at the ceiling as her sweet voice replayed in my head, searching for signs I had missed.

She had been going farther away from me for weeks and I was too blind to see all of that. I was too arrogant to stop all the mess that was happening in my life.

And the worst part of it all was that Sabrina was still here in my life when Isabella was no more here, the woman I love.

I was seated on the dining table as my mind replayed so many things. Sabrina was in the kitchen with Ethan and the way she acted around the house seemed as though she belonged there.

All along, my eyes were on Ethan and the way he was swinging his legs while seated on the counter and staring at his mother as though she was some kind of saint when I knew she wasn't close to it.

“Declan” Sabrina called out my name as she walked out of the kitchen towards me. “I thought you told me that you were feeling sleepy. But you look tired though, since you don't want to sleep anymore just wait here and I'll prepare some coffee for you.” she said.

“I don't want coffee.” I muttered as I rubbed my hand over my face and just in time Ethan ran towards me.

“Daddy can I please see aunty Isabella. She hasn't been here and I miss her so much. She's such a sweet lady.” Ethan said and his words shattered something inside of me. My truth felt dried but I knew better than to force a smile at him.

“Aunty Isabella had to go away for a while, buddy” I replied.

“Will she come back?” he asked and I looked away from him because my silence was enough for an answer.

“Don't worry, sweetheart. Mommy is here and you don't need anyone apart from me and your daddy.” Sabrina said and she placed her hand on his shoulder as I felt anger course through me instantly.

“Don’t you dare think of ever saying that. Don't think that your words can erase Isabella because they cannot.” I snapped at Sabrina and my voice was high enough to make Ethan flinch in fearfulness.

“I am not erasing anyone. Isabella was the one that erased herself from your life, Declan. So you have to accept that fact and stop sulking in a hidden corner like a baby.” Sabrina said as she smiled at me but I wasn't interested in all of her talks.

I had something in mind for days which I had thought about carefully and it was finally time for me to take action.

“Sabrina, I want you to pack your things. You and Ethan are moving to my other apartment today and it is happening right now.” I said and her eyes widened at me.

“Excuse me?”

“You heard me right so don't let me repeat myself. I said I will provide for everything for Ethan. Everything he needs but you don't have to stay here. You can't stay in my house.”

“Isabella is gone. And you are pushing me away too? I am the mother of your child. I am your past, your present, and your truth. So why do you keep fighting it?”

“Because I don't love you. I never will again. And you know it.” I screamed at her.

“Do you hate me that much?” she asked, and I stepped closer to her. I made sure I stared straight into her eyes so she could hear and understand my words clearly.

“You brought my son back to me and I will care for him forever. But as you? You are the reason Isabella left me. And for that, yes I hate you.” I said and she didn't reply.

She just carried Ethan into her arms and walked out as her heels clicked against the floor.

I arrived in the office and the silence was worse to me. I just couldn't stop thinking about Isabella because I was so used to her texting me during my meetings but I couldn't have any of that anymore.

She would send silly emojis to me and her reminder for me to eat lunch but now my phone was silent. The only calls that came in were just business calls. Life didn't hold any meaning to me anymore but I knew that I had to keep going.

“Sir, do you have a moment?” I heard a familiar voice ask, which snapped me back to my present and I looked up to see Marcus, my personal assistant in my office.

“What is it Marcus? I didn't even see when you walked in.” I said and he shut the door as he walked closer to me.

“That is because you are lost in thoughts. I just want to talk to you about everything going on in your home, I know it is not in my position to interfere in your personal matters. But to me, you are my brother and I can't see you always looking disturbed without trying to provide a solution for you.”

“My personal matter isn't the office business and I want you to know that.” I said.

“With respect sir, it is when it affects you this much. You haven't been yourself. The employees in the office talk a lot about everything that has been going on, I hear things and I can't stay quiet anymore.”

“Say it then. I'm listening.” I said, as I leaned against my chair. I was already exhausted from my over-thinking.

“Have you thought about a DNA test for your son.?” he asked and I was forced to look up at him with urgency. How did he even think about that?

“What?”

“I mean no offense sir.” Marcus said quickly as he raised his hands up. “But Sabrina appeared out of nowhere and claimed that you are the father of her son. If you are the father of her son, why did it take her so long to come back? To me she is manipulative. And as for you, you are stressed and distracted. Conducting a DNA test will give you clarity if Ethan is truly your son and you will know about it. But if he is not your son, then I don't want to say anything more.”

“That is enough Marcus. Don't say that again.” I said with a low voice.

“But sir. Can just listen to me and understand my words.”

“I said enough!” I screamed out and I slammed my hands into the desk as Marcus remained stilled to that position. “I know fully well that Ethan is biologically mine.”

“And are you certain about that?” Marcus asked.

And images flashed in my head of Sabrina and me intimacy. The way we had always made love so passionately was enough to get her pregnant and I would always release inside of her.

“I am certain that Ethan is my child.” I said.

“Then I am going to drop this matter but you don't have to let her play you.” he said and walked out of my office instantly.

When Marcus left, the office felt colder to me and I stared at Isabella's empty chair which was across mine. The one she used to curl up her body in whenever she visited me in the office.

I could still hear her laughter and I could still see the images of her playing with her hair.

“Baby. Where are you? Please come back to me.” I whispered as the words felt heavy in my throat. I was just tired of everything and the only person I needed who could calm me down and make my life meaningful again was Isabella.
