Chapter 91 Break the Legs and Lock Up
Before Amelia could process her thoughts, she saw Sophia making a mocking face at her, her red lips barely moving.
Amelia's face twisted with anger as she shot up from the couch.
Sophia's lips clearly mouthed, "You don't deserve to be my husband's mother!"
After Sophia and Benjamin left, Amelia clenched her fists so tight her knuckles turned white, her teeth grinding in fury.
In the car, Sophia told Chase to drive and then turned to Benjamin.
Seeing his dark expression, she gently tugged at his sleeve.
"Babe, don't let it get to you. It's not worth it."
Hurting yourself over this isn't worth it.
Benjamin snapped out of his thoughts and forced a weak smile.
"I'm okay."
Being repeatedly humiliated and ridiculed by his own mother—saying he didn't care would be a lie.
But Benjamin had grown used to it.
He just couldn't understand why some mothers were as cold and cruel as Amelia.
"Some people just can't face the truth, so they blame everyone else for their mistakes."
Sophia leaned against Benjamin's firm arm, murmuring softly.
Thinking about how Benjamin had lived in Amelia's shadow from childhood to adulthood made her heart ache.
Benjamin heard her words and stayed silent, his lips pressed together.
The car fell into an uncomfortable silence once more.
Sophia knew that some wounds take a lifetime to heal.
Benjamin was ruthless and decisive in the business world, but he had never forgotten the pain caused by his parents.
Sophia didn't know how to comfort Benjamin, so she simply wrapped her arms tightly around his waist.
Her hand gently patted his shoulder, offering silent support.
Soon, the car stopped in front of the Stewart villa.
Tonight was the engagement party for the Stewart Family and the Brown Family.
The engagement venue was filled with the city's elite, brightly lit and bustling.
The Stewart Family was once a renowned household in Silverlight City. Although they had started to decline in recent years, they still held some prestige.
The Brown Family, on the other hand, was considered a lower-tier wealthy family.
If it weren't for the Brown Family saving the Stewart Family's life back then, they would never have been able to associate with the Stewart Family.
Benjamin didn't get out of the car immediately.
He looked out the window and suddenly asked, "Sophia, if you hadn't gone missing back then, you would be the star of this party."
"Sophia, do you regret marrying me?"
Benjamin's voice was low and hoarse, his tone seemingly calm.
But Sophia could sense a deep helplessness in his words.
"No," Sophia answered without hesitation.
Benjamin looked at Sophia in disbelief, his heart skipping a beat.
"Really?"
"Really! Even if I hadn't gone missing, I wouldn't marry someone as arrogant as Zander."
Thinking of Zander's conceited face, Sophia showed a look of disdain.
Benjamin was much better—handsome and gentle.
Most importantly, Benjamin treated her well.
"Actually, I'm grateful I went missing back then because it led me to you."
Sophia leaned closer, her delicate face adorned with a soft smile. She looked sweet and tender.
Benjamin's heart felt like it had been hit hard by something.
"Sophia, you know me. I never settle. I like what I like, and I don't like what I don't like."
She liked Benjamin.
She liked him very much.
It was the kind of liking that made her want to spend her life with him.
Benjamin gazed deeply at Sophia's fair and delicate cheeks, unable to hold back a chuckle.
"I'll remember that. If you ever change your mind..."
"What will you do?" Sophia puffed out her chest and leaned closer, looking defiant.
"I'll break your legs and lock you up."
Benjamin's deep, husky voice echoed.
Sophia's eyes widened, seemingly unable to believe those words came from Benjamin.
Though Benjamin's temperament varied, he was always gentle with her.
It was the first time he had spoken harshly to her.
Seeing Sophia's silence, Benjamin thought he had scared her.
He stretched out his long arm, his broad palm clasping her slender, soft waist, pulling her into his embrace.
Sophia was caught off guard, pulled into Benjamin's arms.
Her nose bumped against Benjamin's firm, hot chest, causing a sharp pain.
"I was joking. Don't be scared."
Benjamin's cold voice sounded from above her head, and Sophia's body stiffened momentarily.
She looked up at Benjamin, her tone full of helplessness, "I'm not scared because that day will never come."
Seeing Benjamin's low spirits, Sophia quickly kissed his cheek.
Taking advantage of his stunned moment, Sophia immediately turned and opened the car door.
Benjamin hadn't yet processed Sophia's words when he felt a sudden softness on his cheek.
By the time he realized it, Sophia had already slipped from his embrace and exited the car.
"There will never be such a day?" Benjamin raised his hand to his wildly beating heart.
He was increasingly feeling insecure.
Benjamin sighed lightly and hurriedly got out of the car.
The Stewart villa's living room was brightly lit, and the courtyard was filled with guests attending the party.
They gathered together, their faces adorned with polite smiles.
As everyone chatted and laughed, a black Maybach slowly parked in front of the Stewart villa.
Many people instinctively paused their conversations and turned to look at the car.
If they weren't mistaken, that car was a limited edition, and there were very few of its kind in Silverlight City or even the country.
So the person arriving must be incredibly wealthy.
Countless eyes were fixed on the car, eager to see who was inside.
The Stewart Family had been gradually declining.
Unless they found a powerful ally, it wouldn't be long before the Stewart Family disappeared from the elite circles of Silverlight City.
Under the watchful eyes of many, the car door slowly opened from the inside.
A girl in a pink-purple evening gown, with an exquisite appearance, stepped out of the car.
Seeing the girl's face, many people gasped in astonishment.
Everyone's eyes showed a unanimous sense of amazement.
Her looks could rival those in the entertainment industry.
"Who is this girl? I've never seen her before."
"Is she the daughter of a wealthy family?"
"Not sure, but that car is worth millions of dollars. Whoever owns it must be incredibly rich."
People gathered together, whispering in low voices.
Everyone speculated about the girl's true identity.
At that moment, a tall, slender man slowly stepped out of the car.
The man was exceptionally handsome, his features seemingly sculpted by the creator, flawless and refined.
His narrow eyes slightly squinted, deep and mysterious.
The black tailored suit on his straight, slender frame accentuated his otherworldly aura.
"It's Benjamin!"
In the crowd, someone exclaimed in surprise.
