Chapter 551 Mother and Son Reunion

Chapter 551 Mother and Son Reunion

Alaric thought carefully and asked him, "Are you really sure about this? Your mom might... not recognize you right now."

Although he had Chase look into Odette's information, he wasn't sure whether Odette actually knew about abandoning Emilio.

If Odette knew, that would mean she didn't like Emilio at all.

He was worried that Emilio would be disappointed.

Emilio nodded hard and said, "Yes!"

No matter what his mom was like, he wanted to know who she was and where she was.

Alaric sighed helplessly and stood up from the sofa. "Then let's go. I'll take you to see your mom."

Emilio quickly followed Alaric with his little legs.

Half an hour later, Emilio was led by Alaric to a hospital. Standing at the hospital room door, he curiously looked up at Alaric. "Dad, is my mom in there?"

"Yes." Alaric nodded slightly, crouched down, and reminded Emilio, "Your mom is injured. She doesn't know who you are yet, so play it by ear when we go in, okay?"

Emilio nodded obediently. Only then did Alaric feel relieved and push open the door to walk in.

Odette was awake, her eyes staring at the ceiling without blinking. She never imagined that she would really manage to escape from that basement. She had wanted to escape for a long time, but just hadn't found the right opportunity. She used to know that Sabrina had a lot of power behind her, along with many well-trained subordinates. Even if she escaped, she would definitely be caught and brought back. So she had been waiting for an opportunity.

Until last night, when she overheard Sabrina's phone call. The person on the phone said that Alaric had already boarded a plane to Harmony City and would arrive soon. Sabrina couldn't care about anything else and left the basement directly. Perhaps she left in too much of a hurry—she forgot to lock the door.

Odette knew this was a perfect chance to escape. If she missed this opportunity, who knew when the next one would come? So she found the key she had hidden long ago from the corner and unlocked the chains.

She just didn't expect that she would pass out on the road, run into Alaric, and be rescued by him. What confused her most was Alaric's attitude toward her. He seemed to know her?

Just as she was thinking about this, the hospital room door was suddenly opened from the outside. She turned her head and saw Alaric walk in, with a child about seven or eight years old by his side. The child was adorable, fair and tender, just a bit thin, and very good-looking. Odette's gaze lingered on the child for a moment, but she didn't think much of it.

Alaric walked to the bedside with Emilio and asked softly, "Are you feeling better? If you need anything, just tell the doctors and nurses."

"Thank you." Odette looked at him in surprise, not expecting him to be so thoughtful.

Emilio stood quietly to the side watching, his big watery eyes staring at Odette without blinking. This woman was different from the mother he had imagined. She was too thin, covered in scars, with long hair that was somewhat dry—clearly malnourished.

For some reason, Emilio's eyes suddenly became moist, and tears kept falling. When he started crying, Odette was stunned. She looked at Emilio helplessly, then at Alaric, "What's... what's wrong with him?"

Was he scared by how she looked right now? Alaric frowned and gently stroked Emilio's head. "What's wrong? Are you not feeling well?"

Emilio shook his head while wiping his tears, but his eyes remained glued to Odette, unwilling to look away. His mom... seemed to have suffered so much. Before, he thought he had been abandoned, so he often resented his mom for leaving him. But at this moment, seeing Odette covered in injuries, the resentment in his heart suddenly dissipated.

Odette didn't understand what was wrong with him, but seeing him cry made her feel uncomfortable for some reason. She glanced carefully at Alaric, then leaned over and coaxed gently, "Why are you crying? Can you tell me?"

Emilio kept crying without saying a word. He felt that his mom seemed to be in so much pain right now, but he couldn't do anything about it.

Alaric said helplessly to Odette, "Can you help me comfort the child? I need to step out for a moment."

Odette opened her mouth, but before she could say anything, she saw Alaric stride out of the hospital room. She had no choice but to continue comforting Emilio.

"Don't cry anymore, okay? I'll do a magic trick for you."

Emilio sniffled and looked over curiously. Odette immediately waved both hands in front of Emilio. "Right now there's nothing in my hands, right?"

Emilio nodded and looked at her curiously. Odette smiled and pulled her hands back, placing them behind her back. After a moment, she brought them out again. "Don't blink—watch closely."

Odette's clenched hands slowly opened, revealing a cherry tomato in her palm. Emilio's eyes widened in surprise. How did she do that?

Odette placed the cherry tomato in his hand and rubbed his head. "Eat it. Once you eat it, you'll stop crying, okay?"
