Chapter 548 Emilio's Biological Mother
Chase froze for a moment, then immediately got in the car. He headed to the nearest hospital.
Just as he was about to get out and carry the woman down, the back door suddenly opened.
Alaric stepped out of the car and said flatly, "I'll do it. You take care of Emilio."
Chase was confused and couldn't believe what was happening.
While Alaric wasn't exactly a germaphobe, he definitely wasn't the type to suddenly become so charitable, right?
Alaric had no idea how much his actions had shocked Chase.
Right now, he had only one thought in mind—get her to the hospital for treatment first.
As he lay her on the hospital bed, his hand casually brushed through Odette's hair.
After the doctor took her to the emergency room, he slowly raised his hand. In his palm were several strands of hair.
Just then, Chase came over carrying a sleeping Emilio.
Alaric reached out and touched Emilio's head, then pulled out a few strands of his hair.
Emilio immediately woke up from the pain, whimpering several times in Chase's arms.
Chase watched in shock, not understanding what Alaric was trying to do.
Alaric carefully put away both samples of hair and handed them to Chase. "Get a paternity test done for me."
With that, Alaric took Emilio directly from Chase's arms.
Chase was stunned, but as a professional assistant, he knew he shouldn't ask any questions.
Taking the two hair samples, Chase immediately turned and left.
Over an hour later, the doctor came out after the examination. "Who is the patient's family member?"
Alaric stood up. "I am."
The doctor looked at Alaric with a complicated expression. "The patient is seriously injured, with both new and old wounds. You can tell she's been abused regularly. Plus, the patient is very weak, suffering from long-term malnutrition, and has been kept in dark places... Are you really the patient's family member?"
Alaric's expression changed slightly as he explained quietly, "Not really. I found her on the road. She collapsed in front of my car."
He didn't explain further, but the doctor let out a big sigh of relief.
Good, it wasn't domestic violence then.
This man looked like an upstanding gentleman, and judging by his clothes and appearance, he clearly had an unusual background.
If it really had been domestic violence, they would definitely have had to call the police.
"Doctor, when will she wake up?"
"We've already given the patient an IV. Her body is severely weakened and needs rest. Can you contact her family?"
Alaric slowly shook his head, but his mood was heavy.
He hadn't expected the woman's condition to be this serious.
This was completely beyond his expectations.
Most importantly, this woman was very likely Emilio's biological mother.
Of course, Emilio's biological mother could also be another woman who looked exactly like her.
However, he was more inclined to believe it was the woman lying in the hospital.
There was no particular reason—just his gut feeling.
Because when the woman had tried to scam him with the car collision—even though she had an identical face to this woman, he had clearly seen the calculation in her eyes.
That had instinctively made him uncomfortable.
The doctor continued, "She can be transferred to a regular room now. You'll need to pay the fees."
Alaric nodded slightly and agreed.
Another two hours passed before Chase finally returned, his expression hard to read.
Alaric looked at the report in his hand and asked curiously, "What's the result?"
"Ninety-nine point nine nine percent... direct biological relationship. Mr. White, what a coincidence—the woman lying in there really is Emilio's biological mother?"
Chase found it unbelievable.
If he hadn't personally delivered the hair samples himself, he wouldn't have believed this result even if they killed him.
But this was the truth.
The hospital's paternity test confirmed that this woman and Emilio were mother and son.
Emilio's mother... they'd just found her so suddenly?
Alaric had been mentally prepared, so his reaction was calm.
He had already guessed it, and the DNA test results just confirmed his suspicion.
Now the only thing he needed to do was wait for the woman to wake up and ask her about what happened back then.
Why did he have no memory of it at all?
If it weren't for the fact that he somehow had a child, he wouldn't have believed he'd ever had sex with someone so long ago.
He handed Emilio to Chase and instructed quietly, "Take him back to the hotel first."
"What about you? Are you going to wait here for that woman— Emilio's mother to wake up?"
"Yes." Alaric nodded slightly and headed to the hospital room.
Odette was seriously injured. Her body was covered in bruises, and there were many marks from knife cuts.
There wasn't a single spot of healthy skin on her body.
He didn't know what kind of torture she had endured to end up like this.
Alaric sat by the hospital bed and let out a deep sigh.
When Odette woke up, the first thing she smelled was the sharp scent of disinfectant.
What she saw wasn't darkness anymore, but a white ceiling and blinding light.
She instinctively squinted, unable to adjust to such bright light for a moment.
"You're awake?" Just then, a low, pleasant voice suddenly came from beside her.
Odette turned her head to look, and her pupils suddenly contracted.
Alaric!
