Chapter 532: Owed
Hospital in Silverlight City.
Olivia was transferred to a regular ward and didn't wake up until the next morning.
Sawyer was slumped over the edge of the bed, and Flynn was sprawled on the sofa—both fast asleep.
Olivia's hand moved slightly. She felt something heavy pressing on her arm. Looking down, she saw Sawyer's head resting on it.
The moment she moved, Sawyer woke up.
He hadn't been sleeping well in the hospital, waking up now and then.
As soon as he opened his eyes and saw that Olivia was awake, he jumped up excitedly. "Mom, you're awake? How do you feel? Are you uncomfortable anywhere?"
Olivia's lips parted slightly, and her eyes swept around the room, as if searching for something.
Her voice was so soft that Sawyer couldn't hear clearly. He had to lean his ear closer, and then he heard: "Sophia..."
Sawyer's heart felt like it had been stabbed, a sharp pain shooting through it.
He hesitated, but finally forced himself to tell Olivia the truth: "Sophia already left."
A flash of loneliness and disappointment instantly crossed Olivia's eyes. She closed them tightly, and tears streamed down from the corners.
Sophia...
Two years. Yesterday was the first time she'd seen Sophia in two good years.
She was more beautiful than before, more elegant too.
The old Sophia had been a bit too thin, with innocent childishness still lingering in her eyes. Now Sophia had become more composed, her gaze increasingly calm and still.
Especially when Sophia looked at Olivia—there was no ripple in her eyes at all. She seemed to be looking at just an ordinary patient.
Olivia's heart ached. She didn't dare think any further, afraid she wouldn't be able to control her emotions.
Just then, Heath pushed the door open, carrying four breakfasts. "You're awake? Eat something first."
Sawyer glanced at the breakfast in Heath's hands and realized he was actually quite hungry.
Since learning about Olivia's accident yesterday afternoon, he'd rushed over from Harmony City and been busy all night without eating at all.
Even Flynn, who'd been sound asleep, smelled the breakfast and groggily woke up.
Heath was the oldest and the most composed of the three brothers.
He said, "You eat first. One sandwich each. I'll feed her."
Sawyer and Flynn nodded, immediately went to the bathroom to freshen up briefly, then sat on the sofa to eat.
Heath rolled up his shirt sleeves, revealing a section of his well-defined arm. He took out a bowl of porridge from the food bag and fed it to Olivia, spoonful by spoonful.
The head of the bed was raised, and Olivia leaned against it with soft pillows behind her back.
She smiled at Heath, her eyes moist.
Heath brought a spoonful of porridge to her lips. "Eat. The doctor said you can only have bland food right now."
He'd left in a hurry and just browsed nearby shops. When he saw a place selling porridge, he bought some.
As for how it tasted, he hadn't tried it himself, but the shop seemed to be doing good business, so it probably wasn't so bad.
Olivia obediently opened her mouth. She ate bite by bite, but could only manage half the bowl before she couldn't eat anymore.
It wasn't because the porridge tasted bad. In prison, she had no right to be picky about food. She'd long stopped being as delicate as before.
Seeing Olivia wave her hand, Heath didn't force her.
He set the bowl on the nearby table and looked at her calmly. "Mom, tell me the truth. Why did you fight with Isabella?"
Olivia froze and didn't answer his question right away.
Heath sighed deeply. "Mom, you can fool others, but you can't fool me. Tell me honestly."
Sawyer and Flynn, who were wolfing down their food, exchanged confused glances, then both shook their heads, not understanding what Heath meant.
Olivia's face was somewhat pale, but she still insisted stubbornly, "I don't know what you're talking about."
Heath's expression instantly darkened. "You don't know? Then let me help you remember. The prison supervisor said you'd always behaved well before and never started trouble. Why were you so impulsive today?"
"Didn't you tell Hayden you'd behave well to get your sentence reduced? Don't want that anymore?"
Olivia kept her head down low, pressing her lips together without saying a word.
Heath looked at her intently. "Still don't want to say? Then let me continue. You did this to get revenge for Sophia. Am I right?"
Hearing Sophia's name, Sawyer and Flynn slowed down their eating.
They exchanged glances, their eyes still full of confusion.
They clearly had no idea what had happened.
Then Olivia slowly looked up. "You're right. I deliberately provoked Isabella."
Olivia hadn't spoken in a long time, so her voice was very hoarse.
Though her voice was soft, everyone in the room heard what she said clearly.
Heath let out a heavy sigh, showing an expression of "just as I thought."
"Mom, I know you feel guilty about Sophia, but you don't need to bet your own life."
Olivia's face was pale. She shook her head gently. "You don't understand."
She owed Sophia far too much.
She probably couldn't repay it all even if she gave everything for the rest of her life.
Besides, she could only live in prison normally, couldn't go anywhere, and couldn't see Sophia at all.
