Chapter 494: You Are Under Arrest
The two bodyguards were kicked to the ground by Benjamin. With his gun pointed at them, they immediately froze and didn't move.
When Sophia saw who it was, her eyes instantly lit up.
"Benjamin!"
Her voice was so clear and bright, full of excitement. Hearing this, Benjamin felt an indescribable sweetness rising in his chest.
He looked at Sophia and smiled reassuringly, "Don't be afraid, I'm here to save you."
As soon as Benjamin finished speaking, several men in uniforms carrying guns rushed in behind him.
Sophia's lips curved slightly as she looked up at Lachlan, "Now, you can't escape."
The moment the police appeared, Lachlan was completely stunned.
He didn't expect Benjamin to move so fast—it had only been about ten minutes since Sophia destroyed the security system.
And Benjamin had already found so many people to help!
It seemed they had been watched all along, or rather, Benjamin and his team had been working with the police from the start.
He blamed himself for being too careless, never thinking in that direction.
After the police had the two bodyguards under control, Benjamin lifted his foot from their backs, his eyes cold and sharp.
"Lachlan, confess."
Lachlan suddenly burst into wild laughter, with a hint of mockery in his voice.
Everyone silently watched him without saying a word.
Lachlan couldn't escape—they had practically surrounded the place.
When he finished laughing, Lachlan suddenly looked up, his eyes growing colder and colder.
He sneered, "Do you really think that by catching me, this research will stop?"
Hearing this, Sophia couldn't help but frown, "What else are you planning to do?"
The GeneCipher Society had deep roots—it had been established for over twenty years. Taking them down completely wouldn't be easy.
But they would definitely raid Lachlan and the confirmed GeneCipher Society locations.
To protect those children, and to make sure no one in the future would suffer from the poison as she and Benjamin had.
Lachlan's lips curved, "Do you think my operations are only in those places shown on the map? You're all so naive!"
Thaddeus strode in with a dark expression, "Whether there are other places or not, that's for later. Right now... you're under arrest."
As soon as he finished speaking, several police officers rushed forward, took Lachlan from Sophia's hands, and prepared to escort him to the car.
Just then, a black car suddenly drove in and slowly stopped in front of everyone.
Lachlan paused and instinctively looked toward the car.
The car door was slowly pushed open from inside, and Magnus stepped out. However, since Magnus was wearing a mask, Lachlan didn't think much of it and didn't guess his identity.
Next came Preston, and... Celestia.
The moment he saw Celestia, Lachlan's eyes contracted sharply.
He opened his mouth but ultimately couldn't say a word.
Celestia was already crying her eyes out. She looked at Lachlan in disbelief.
In her memory, Lachlan had always been gentle and kind and very good to her.
It was precisely because of Lachlan's affection that Celestia had become increasingly spoiled.
But she never imagined that the father she admired and trusted most was the one who had harmed the White family for over twenty years.
She had seen news reports before about many missing children and felt sorry for them at the time.
But after feeling bad for a moment, she had put it out of her mind.
She never thought any of it had anything to do with her own father.
And the poison in Benjamin's body—Lachlan was behind that, too!
Three hours ago, Lachlan had gone to the White Manor, and she had heard the entire conversation between him and Preston.
At that moment, she could hardly believe it and could only cover her mouth to keep from making any sound.
It wasn't until Lachlan left that she slowly came out.
She still couldn't believe it was true and kept asking Preston, "Grandpa, everything I just heard was fake, right? Tell me!"
But Preston remained silent.
Which meant he was confirming it.
At that moment, Celestia felt her whole world collapse, and the beliefs she had held for so many years were destroyed.
When Magnus came to the White Manor to take Preston away, she took the initiative to step forward, wanting to come along.
The whole way, she kept silently praying that none of it was true.
But when she saw Lachlan being escorted out by the police with her own eyes, her heart went cold.
She took a few steps forward, her eyes red as she looked at him, "Why? Why did you do this?"
Lachlan frowned and scolded her, "Go back. This isn't a place you should be."
At this point, Lachlan had nothing left to hide.
However, when facing Celestia, his own daughter, he couldn't help but feel a pang in his heart.
All these years, he had been blinded by hatred, focused only on revenge, but in the end, it was all fake.
His identity as an illegitimate son was fake.
The story about Magnus causing his mother's death was also fake.
He had no right to face the White family anymore, and even less courage to face Celestia.
Celestia stubbornly stood her ground and shouted at him, "I won't! When you did all this, did you ever think about Mom and me?"
Lachlan still stood there, lips pressed together, saying nothing.
He kept his eyes lowered, and no one knew what he was thinking at that moment.
Benjamin just glanced at him briefly before looking away.
He quickly dropped the gun in his hand and walked toward Sophia.
Watching him get closer and closer, Sophia's lips curved slightly. Before she could say anything, she was pulled into his arms.
He held Sophia tightly, wishing he could merge her into his very bones. His body was still trembling slightly.
While waiting outside, though he appeared calm on the surface, his heart had long been in chaos.
He was afraid something would happen to Sophia. As long as there was no news of her, his heart couldn't settle down.
Fortunately, she was okay.
Sophia smiled and hugged him back, gently patting his back.
"Alright, alright, I'm fine now."
"Don't ever take such risks again. You really... scared me to death." Benjamin's arms around Sophia tightened again and again.
It wasn't until Sophia could barely breathe that he reluctantly let her go.
Sophia nodded at him and obediently replied, "I'll be more careful from now on."
Actually, when she was confronting Lachlan earlier, she hadn't felt that scared.
Now that everything had settled, thinking back to those dangerous moments, the fear slowly crept up on her.
She had been scared too—afraid something would happen to her, afraid she'd never see Benjamin again.
But the situation had been too dangerous at the time, leaving no room for her to think.
Everything she did was purely instinctive.
"Oh, right, those children are still upstairs," Sophia suddenly said.
