Chapter 424 My Husband Can't Hold His Liquor
Isabella gritted her teeth and stepped forward: "Mr. White, don't be so heartless. I just want to buy you a drink."
Her eyes were red and teary, making her look especially pitiful—hard for anyone to refuse.
But the person she was dealing with was Benjamin, who had always been cold-hearted and only had eyes for Sophia.
Benjamin merely glanced at her briefly before looking away.
A mocking smile crossed his cold lips: "Sorry, I don't drink with any woman except my wife."
He leaned back casually on the sofa, his manner elegant and refined.
Even though his voice was cold and his gaze distant, he still radiated an irresistible charm.
Isabella felt herself almost falling for him.
The more Benjamin rejected her, the more excited she became.
"Mr. White, don't be so cold. After all, Sophia is my sister."
When she said this, her eyes sparkled with seductive intent, creating an indescribable sense of forbidden allure.
Any ordinary man sitting here would probably find it hard to resist.
Benjamin sneered: "Sorry, my wife's mother only had one daughter. Who are you?"
In other words, he didn't acknowledge Isabella's identity.
Isabella's eyes immediately reddened. "Mr. White, did Sophia tell you this? If Dad knew she didn't acknowledge him, he'd be so hurt."
If she remembered correctly, Benjamin hadn't recovered his memory yet.
Which meant... he would believe whatever people told him.
So now was the perfect time to badmouth Sophia.
She wanted Benjamin to know that Sophia was a vicious and calculating woman.
Sophia didn't even want her own biological father!
A woman who didn't respect filial piety—how heartless was that?
How could Benjamin possibly fall for such a woman?
However, while she had calculated everything, she didn't know that Benjamin had already recovered most of his memory.
And he had long ago investigated all the information about the Brown family, knowing them inside and out.
He even knew exactly what she had done to Sophia in the past.
Benjamin suddenly straightened up, his tone icy: "Ms. Brown, watch your words. My Sophia severed ties with Hayden long ago. Everyone knows this. What gives you the right to slander her?"
Isabella was startled by the cold, intimidating aura he gave off, stammering without being able to speak.
"I, I didn't..."
Sophia walked over at this moment and stopped in front of Isabella: "Didn't what? Didn't slander? I just recorded everything. Want me to play it for everyone now?"
From the moment Isabella entered the Martinez Villa, Sophia knew she was up to no good.
She didn't act immediately because she wanted to see what Isabella was trying to do.
As it turned out, it was pretty much what she expected.
First, to drive a wedge between Benjamin and her.
Second, to drug Benjamin and destroy their relationship.
Two years later, Isabella was still as calculating as before.
Unfortunately, the more anxious someone is, the more mistakes they make.
Her plan was full of holes.
Meeting Sophia's clear yet intimidating gaze, Isabella's heart jumped.
Why was she here?
She had clearly seen Sophia go to the restroom, which was why she dared to approach Benjamin.
"Sophia, don't talk nonsense! I just wanted to toast Mr. White. Is this how the Martinez family treats guests?"
"Toast..."
Sophia's gaze fell on what she was holding.
Left and right, two glasses of red wine.
One for herself, one for Benjamin.
Seeing Sophia approach, Isabella instinctively stepped back half a step, her eyes wary.
"What are you trying to do?"
Sophia chuckled lightly and took the glass of red wine from her right hand, sniffing it gently.
Isabella's breathing suddenly stopped, her pupils contracting sharply.
Had she discovered something?
No!
That couldn't be!
The drug she bought was colorless and odorless. Even if Sophia's medical skills were amazing, so what?
But just as she was nervously at a loss, Sophia suddenly tilted her head back and drank all the wine in the glass.
Isabella's eyes widened in shock, and she couldn't help but gasp.
"You..."
"I've already drunk mine. Your turn."
Sophia shook her now-empty wine glass, the smile on her lips deepening.
Isabella looked down at the wine glass in her hand, unable to help but doubt herself.
She clearly remembered the right hand one was the drugged one.
Why did Sophia have no reaction at all after drinking it?
Did this drug need time to take effect?
Her brain raced, carefully thinking about what to do next.
Seeing her dazed and distracted, Sophia spoke provocatively: "What? You don't dare drink? Or do you only want to drink with my husband?"
The commotion they were making wasn't small, and the surrounding guests all looked over.
"How could that be? I'll drink it right now!"
Isabella was now in a difficult position.
If she refused to drink, it would be admitting that her earlier attempt to drink with Benjamin had ulterior motives.
If she drank, she would have a hard time finding another chance to drink with Benjamin.
After weighing her options, Isabella still tilted her head back and drank the wine in her hand.
She glared at Sophia resentfully, "Are you satisfied now?"
Sophia smiled and nodded, "Ms. Brown, if you want to drink next time, feel free to find me. My husband can't hold his liquor well."
That Benjamin couldn't hold his liquor was naturally false.
Many of the guests present had done business with the White Group.
Which of them hadn't witnessed Benjamin's drinking capacity?
Even if all the people present combined their drinking capacity, they might not match Benjamin alone.
Many people silently sighed to themselves—Sophia really loved Benjamin!
Isabella hadn't expected Sophia to embarrass her publicly. She wanted nothing more than to rush up and tear Sophia's face apart.
But just then, a sudden heat surged through her body.
The scenes and figures before her eyes began to blur and even spin continuously.
She tried hard to shake her head, but her consciousness gradually became unclear.
She instinctively wanted to grab onto something to steady herself, but in the end only grasped at air.
Now, what didn't she understand?
"Sophia, you actually set me up!"
She clenched her hands tightly into fists, glaring at Sophia with hatred.
Her reaction clearly showed she had been drugged.
But she clearly remembered putting the drug in the glass in her right hand.
It must have been Sophia who did something behind the scenes!
"Ms. Brown, slander and defamation carry legal consequences."
Sophia looked at her with a smile, enjoying her current state.
"I'm not lying! She drugged me. Please, help me..." Isabella looked desperately at the guests.
She didn't know what drug she'd been given, but her mind was very foggy now.
Her hands at her sides were clenched tightly into fists, nails digging into her flesh, barely restoring a bit of consciousness.
If this continued, she didn't know what would happen, and didn't dare think further.
Those guests, seeing her crazed state, instinctively stepped back, not daring to help.
Isabella's legs went weak and she fell to the ground.
Her body was getting hotter and hotter, a blush rising on her cheeks.
Her mind became increasingly chaotic, even losing the ability to think independently.
