Chapter 420 Pretending to Be a Kind Mother
Isabella couldn't believe that Amelia would actually expose her in front of everyone!
Feeling the complex, contemptuous looks from the guests around her, she was instantly furious.
She glared at Amelia, half threatening, half provoking.
"Amelia, didn't you invite me here? How could you forget?"
She thought that by saying this, Amelia would understand her hint.
But she never expected that Amelia wouldn't even bother to look at her.
Amelia had been mentally confused these past few days, with a dull headache, and was even more impatient dealing with Isabella.
"Ms. Brown, you need an invitation to attend the party. You didn't receive one but insisted on coming, and now you're accusing me of inviting you. What exactly are you up to?"
Tobias already disliked her.
If she admitted it in front of so many guests, wouldn't everyone think she had no manners?
She always cared most about saving face, so naturally she wouldn't let that happen.
Isabella's face turned red with anger. "Amelia, how can you say that? I'm here representing someone else."
"Have you forgotten what that person told you?"
To complete her mission, she couldn't care less about being exposed.
After all, coming to the Martinez Villa today was Bodhi's order.
If she didn't fulfill Bodhi's requirements, she'd probably end up dead.
She didn't want to die!
Amelia's hand, which was adjusting her clothes, paused slightly, a flash of surprise in her eyes. "What did you say?"
Isabella lifted her chin proudly. "I said, that person specifically told me to come."
Now do you understand?
Amelia glanced nervously in Tobias's direction, then quickly looked away.
Afraid that others would notice something unusual, she quickly came down from the staircase and pulled Isabella aside.
Sophia and Benjamin, who had been watching from the side, exchanged glances and raised their eyebrows.
Looks like someone couldn't wait to make their move.
But they were curious about what the person behind Isabella really wanted to do.
And Isabella was really confident enough to think they couldn't understand her hints?
Two years had passed, and Isabella was still as stupid as before.
Benjamin caught the cunning look in Sophia's eyes, and his lips curved slightly.
Benjamin stepped forward and said to the guests, "That was just a misunderstanding. Isabella was indeed invited by Amelia, but in the rush, she forgot to give her the invitation."
Adelaide also chimed in, "Yes, everyone can go back to what they were doing."
The guests had mixed thoughts but didn't dare show it, waving their hands and saying they didn't mind.
Meanwhile, Amelia pulled Isabella to a corner of the living room and demanded sharply, "Bodhi sent you here. What exactly do you want to do?"
Isabella shook off her hand in disgust and sneered disdainfully, "It's because you're too useless. You can't even handle Benjamin and Sophia."
After returning to the country, she had contacted Amelia several times following Bodhi's instructions.
She used to think that as Benjamin's biological mother, it should be easy for Amelia to deal with Sophia and Benjamin.
But she never expected that she couldn't even complete a simple task.
The original plan was for Amelia to approach either Sophia or Benjamin.
Start with one and break them down one by one.
But Amelia couldn't even do this simple thing right.
And these past few days, Amelia had even gone missing!
Bodhi had no choice but to send her over in person.
Her purpose in coming to the birthday party was to find an opportunity to drug either Sophia or Benjamin.
She heard that Sophia was very skilled in medicine, so she would definitely see through ordinary drugs right away.
So she spent a lot of money to buy a colorless, odorless drug.
No matter how skilled Sophia was, she couldn't possibly detect it.
Of course, she wouldn't do it herself.
So she had to get Amelia to help her.
She quietly looked around, and seeing no one was paying attention to them, she immediately leaned close to Amelia's ear.
In a voice only the two of them could hear, she said a few words.
Amelia's face changed dramatically. "No! I don't agree!"
"Today is my dad's birthday party, not a place for you to cause trouble."
"Isabella, I'm warning you, if you dare do that dirty thing at the party, I will never let you get away with it!"
If she let Isabella drug Benjamin at the party, it would be the Martinez family and the White family who would lose face in the end.
Although she hated Benjamin, when it came to major principles, she knew what should and shouldn't be done.
Being firmly rejected, Isabella's face immediately darkened.
She sneered, "Amelia, don't you always wish Benjamin would die? Why are you playing the caring mother now?"
Those secrets of the White family were known to everyone in Silverlight City.
Amelia remained unmoved and insisted, "Any day except today. Whenever you want to make your move, I won't stop you."
But not today.
This was her bottom line.
Isabella laughed sarcastically, "So someone like you still has a bottom line? Amelia, are you really willing to accept it? Willing to be kicked out of the White family, willing to let Sophia crush you?"
Her words were like a sharp dagger, stabbing hard into Amelia's heart.
Amelia's hands hanging at her sides clenched into tight fists, her eyes full of hatred.
How could she be willing to accept it?
But whether it was the White family or the Martinez family, everyone said she was wrong.
Was she really wrong?
But she was also a victim.
Isabella smiled smugly and continued, "Bodhi said today is the best opportunity. Don't you want revenge?"
Amelia's eyes flickered, her heart somewhat tempted.
...
In another corner of the banquet hall.
Adelaide said worriedly, "I always feel Isabella has bad intentions. You two be careful tonight."
She heard Isabella had just returned to the country not long ago, but unexpectedly she was already involved with Amelia.
And she had seen clearly just now that when Isabella looked at Sophia and Benjamin, her eyes were full of resentment and malice.
This made her feel uneasy.
Sophia gently patted her shoulder and softly reassured her, "It's okay, we'll deal with whatever comes."
She wasn't afraid of Isabella's schemes; she just wanted to know what she was going to do.
Adelaide nodded. "As long as you know what you're doing. I'll go greet the guests now."
"Okay."
Sophia smiled and waved at her.
After she left, Sophia whispered a few words in Benjamin's ear, then took out a delicate little porcelain bottle from her bag and handed it to him.
"Take one first, just in case."
A small black pill was held between Sophia's fair, delicate fingertips and offered to Benjamin.
Benjamin took it without hesitation and swallowed it, not even asking what the medicine was for.
Because he knew clearly that Sophia would never harm him.
Seeing him take the medicine, Sophia smiled with satisfaction and turned to help Adelaide greet the guests.
If she continued to stay with Benjamin, Isabella probably wouldn't find a chance to make her move.
Since she appeared here, she must have come prepared.
Adelaide was right. Whether Isabella was coming after her or Benjamin, she had to be prepared in advance.
If Isabella dared to provoke her, she should bear the consequences.
This time, she wouldn't let Isabella off easily.
