Chapter 383 It's Only Right That I Treat My Wife Well
The three of them took the private elevator downstairs together. Just as they reached the entrance, a figure suddenly rushed over.
Finnley reacted quickly, pulling Sophia aside to dodge.
Matthew didn't have time to react and got hit head-on.
He frowned and looked down at the person in his arms, meeting Celestia's face full of joy.
"Matthew, I'm so glad I ran into you. My grandfather wants to send me abroad. Please help me."
Celestia felt wronged. She never expected Preston to be so heartless.
She thought this time would be like before—no matter how much she made a fuss, Preston would just scold her a bit and then let it go.
But when she got home, she found that Finn had moved all her belongings back from the White Manor.
He even wanted to send her abroad to study, forbidding her from returning for three years.
Benjamin had already cut off her allowance. Now sending her abroad—wasn't that leaving her to fend for herself?
She frantically begged Finn, "Finn, Grandpa couldn't possibly treat me like this. You must have gotten it wrong!"
"Ms. White, Mr. White said he already gave you a chance, but you didn't cherish it. So don't blame him."
"No way, Grandpa couldn't be that cruel to me! Did Sophia tell you to do this?" This was the only possibility she could think of.
She had always been against Sophia. In the family, only Sophia had a motive to want her gone.
Finn sighed helplessly and reminded her, "Actually, Mr. White has always cared about you. That's never changed. Mrs. White has never deliberately targeted you. On the contrary, it's you who has hurt and insulted her again and again."
Now she was completely desperate, not knowing who to turn to for help.
In her panic, she thought of Matthew.
Only Matthew could help her now.
"Sorry, I can't help you." Matthew took a step back, looking at Celestia coldly.
Hearing that Preston was sending Celestia abroad, he was surprised too. But then thinking about how Sophia said she moved out of the White Manor today, he immediately guessed what had happened.
Celestia was spoiled and willful, always targeting Sophia.
He had advised Sophia to move out before, but she said she didn't want Preston to worry.
He couldn't persuade her, so he let it go.
He didn't expect Celestia not only failed to restrain herself but got worse.
So he had no good feelings toward Celestia.
Celestia looked at him with teary eyes, begging desperately, "Matthew, you just need to say a few words for me to Grandpa. Please."
Actually, she wasn't just here to ask Matthew for help—she had her own plan.
If Matthew agreed to help her, Preston would definitely know that she held a special place in Matthew's heart.
Then when she went to plead with Preston, she could not only stay in the country but maybe even get Preston to arrange an engagement between her and Matthew.
It would kill two birds with one stone.
Unfortunately, her plan was about to fail.
Matthew ignored her pitiful look, his calm voice carrying extreme coldness, "Sorry, I have no obligation to help you. You're nothing to me."
Celestia quickly grabbed Matthew's sleeve, her eyes burning with infatuation, "Matthew, I like you. As long as you agree to help me talk to Grandpa, I'll agree to anything."
Matthew disgustedly shook off her hand and sneered, "Just because you like me means I have to respond? Instead of coming to me for help, you should reflect on where you went wrong."
He believed that Preston's harsh words didn't necessarily mean he was set on sending Celestia abroad.
Rather, Preston hoped to make Celestia recognize her mistakes through this approach.
Unfortunately, Celestia was too stubborn and never thought about seriously reflecting.
Being rejected by Matthew repeatedly, Celestia felt disheartened and embarrassed, wishing she could find a hole to crawl into.
She had been pampered all her life. When had she ever suffered such humiliation?
Just then, she caught sight of Sophia standing nearby, and anger immediately surged in her heart.
"Sophia, it's all because of you that I've fallen to this state! I'll fight you!"
She charged at Sophia furiously, wanting to tear off that fake mask.
She had fallen to this state all because of Sophia!
Not only did Sophia show no remorse, she stood there watching her make a fool of herself!
Seeing the fierce figure rushing at her, Sophia instinctively stepped back, trying to dodge Celestia's attack.
Finnley moved before her, pulling her wrist and placing her behind him. He grabbed Celestia's swinging wrist and forcefully threw her off.
Celestia wasn't prepared. With that throw, she fell hard to the ground.
A sharp pain spread from her tailbone through her whole body. She couldn't help but scream. She looked up at Finnley in disbelief.
"Benjamin, I'm your sister, and you hit me for this bitch?"
"You tried to hit my wife first. You're not capable but still asking for a beating—you're the stupidest person I've ever seen." Finnley sneered, showing no mercy.
Celestia knelt on the cold ground, utterly shocked.
She knew before that Benjamin was cold by nature, but she never thought he could even abandon blood ties.
Except for Sophia, it seemed no one in the world could catch his eye.
Matthew was the same. He seemed cold but had a soft spot only for Sophia, wanting to give her all his tenderness.
Celestia completely broke down, holding her head and crying loudly.
She shouted, "Why? Why does everyone revolve around Sophia? What's so good about her?"
Matthew's face darkened, his tone matter-of-fact, "I've watched Sophia grow up since she was little. If I don't care about her, who should I care about? You?"
Finnley wasn't backing down either, looking at Celestia like she was already dead.
"Being good to my wife is perfectly natural."
Celestia was so shocked by their attitudes she couldn't speak.
Her anger had nowhere to vent. Like a deflated balloon, her eyes dimmed.
She struggled to get up from the ground and left in embarrassment.
Matthew gave Finnley a meaningful look, the hostility in his eyes lessening a bit.
Good thing Finnley's amnesia didn't make him lose his mind—he knew to protect Sophia.
Actually, given his position, he had no right to interfere with who Sophia married. He just hoped she could find a man worthy of spending her life with.
After observing him all day, Finnley barely qualified.
Finnley didn't know what Matthew was thinking and stared back defiantly.
Matthew and Finnley's gazes met in the air. In that instant, sparks flew, and invisible tension filled the air.
