Chapter 381 Doing Things That Were Not Done in Time
On the other side, the car drove into a villa district and stopped in front of the villa in the very center.
Chase got out first and opened the back door. "Mr. White, Mrs. White, we're here."
Finnley let Sophia hold his hand as they walked inside, his eyes scanning around the villa's courtyard.
The moment he stepped in, a floral fragrance hit him. A section of the yard had been turned into a flower garden.
Looking around, it was full of colorful blooms, very vibrant and lively.
Behind the flower garden was an artificial lake with clear water. Occasionally koi fish swam by, and the wind rustled through the trees along the shore.
There was an indescribable sense of comfort and ease.
Sophia pointed at the flower garden and introduced, "I planted all of these. I had someone specially fix up that glass house over there - that's where I usually spend my time."
Finnley looked in the direction she was pointing and saw various gardening tools inside.
This place didn't feel like a villa - it was more like a hidden paradise.
Walking into the living room, a familiar feeling washed over him. Finnley suddenly felt fragments flash through his mind.
Those scattered images came and went so quickly he couldn't catch them.
Then, a sharp pain shot through his head, and his mind went blank again.
He took a deep breath, forcing himself to control the headache. He closed his eyes hard, and it took a while before he recovered.
Sophia held his hand and went straight upstairs, opening the bedroom door.
Although she didn't come back often, she had people maintain it regularly, so even though no one had really lived here for two years, it was still spotless.
"I had someone put on fresh sheets and clean the room," Sophia said to herself.
Finnley stood at the doorway, his eyes scanning the bedroom, and finally smiled helplessly.
The bedroom's decor was clearly done according to Sophia's taste - whether it was the wardrobe or the sofa, everything was in light colors.
On the balcony, as usual, there was a lounge chair and a small table. The midday sun happened to be streaming through the window, making everything feel warm and cozy.
It was clear how much he used to care about Sophia.
Sophia followed him over and looked out from the balcony railing, pointing outside. "This used to be a rose field, but I thought it was too plain, so I had them move it."
As Sophia spoke, she leaned her head out the window.
Suddenly, a cool hand hooked her collar and pulled her back.
Finnley's deep voice sounded by her ear, "Do you have a death wish?"
Sophia's back hit straight into Finnley's chest. Ignoring the pain, she quickly looked up at him. "You - you remembered?"
Sophia's heart jumped to her throat, waiting for his response.
Finnley looked down, a faint smile crossing his eyes. "No, but just now some fragments flashed by, and I said that instinctively."
He paused, then raised an eyebrow and asked, "Did I really say that before?"
Sophia's nose tingled. She turned around and buried herself in his arms, her voice muffled. "Yes, the first time I came here."
Her answer was within Finnley's expectations.
He nodded slightly, reaching out to ruffle her fluffy hair, coaxing, "Maybe Clifton's method is right. Going to familiar places can stimulate the brain and help restore memory."
"Looks like moving back was the right choice."
Sophia hugged his strong waist tightly, nuzzling against him.
Who knew how much that one sentence affected her - she thought he had already recovered his memory.
Although she selfishly hoped Finnley would recover his old memories, she also couldn't bear to see him suffer through the painful treatment process.
Sophia comforted herself, "Things are pretty good now. We'll take it slow, no rush."
Finnley hugged Sophia back, his lips slowly curving into a smile.
Chase was dragging two suitcases behind them. As soon as he walked in, he saw Sophia and Finnley hugging.
His breath caught, and he instinctively stopped, looking inside with surprise and curiosity.
Two years had passed, and Finnley still doted on Sophia as always.
Turns out romance novels aren't all reliable.
Despite his strong hints, not only did Finnley and Sophia not have any conflicts, their relationship had actually progressed by leaps and bounds.
This was all thanks to him!
Looks like he should find a chance to hint to Alaric about giving him a raise.
Chase silently marveled to himself - dedicated employees like him were hard to find these days!
Just as he was lost in his daydream about a raise, Chase suddenly felt a cold, dark gaze looking his way.
He shivered and looked toward the room, only to see Finnley squinting at him, his eyes releasing a dangerous cold glint.
Chase: !!!
Chase laughed awkwardly, put the suitcases down, and quickly ran off.
If he stayed any longer, he was afraid Finnley might silence him for good.
"What's wrong?" Sophia had her back to the door, so she didn't see Chase.
She sensed the coldness coming from Finnley and looked up at him in confusion.
The moment she spoke, Finnley reined in his coldness. When he looked at Sophia, he was back to his gentle self.
"Nothing. I haven't looked around inside yet. Let's go check it out." He held Sophia's slender, soft hand and walked toward the bathroom.
"What's there to see in the bathroom? The layout is the same as the White Manor - I barely changed anything."
Although she said this, she still let Finnley pull her into the bathroom.
The counter was covered with various skincare products, mostly bottles and jars, with no clear brands visible.
But he had already heard from Chase that all the skincare products under the Lumina Group were developed by her and her team.
These must be them, right?
Finnley glanced around briefly and noticed his things were pitifully few.
He only had a cup for brushing teeth and a razor.
The toothbrush had been sitting too long to use, but it was still hanging next to Sophia's, as if he had never left.
Finnley hugged Sophia tightly from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder, his voice low and lonely. "Sophia, I'm sorry..."
He had made her wait so long.
"It's good that you're back." Sophia's eyes were moist, but her lips curved in a smile.
Her rosy lips looked beautiful and alluring.
Finnley held her even tighter, wishing he could merge her into his very bones.
After a long while, he finally spoke, "Remember the wish list from before?"
Sophia nodded. "I remember. Why?"
"It recorded all the things we didn't get to do two years ago. Starting today, let's make up for all those regrets, okay?"
At this moment, he felt more urgently than ever the need to recover his old memories.
He didn't want to see Sophia cry for him anymore. It broke his heart.
