Chapter 379 Two-Person World
Preston was already seated at the dining table, just waiting for everyone else.
Sophia and Finnley were the last to arrive.
As soon as they sat down, Preston instructed Finn behind him, "Bring out the food."
Finn nodded and headed toward the kitchen.
The servants brought out the dishes one by one and placed them on the table.
Preston looked at them with satisfaction, picked up his utensils and said, "Go ahead and eat."
Just then, Finnley suddenly spoke up, "Grandpa, Sophia and I have discussed it. We want to move back to Maple Grove Villas."
Preston's hand holding the utensils paused slightly. He looked at Finnley in surprise, "Why do you suddenly want to move back to Maple Grove Villas? Isn't it good living here?"
After speaking, he glanced toward Celestia with a stern face, his eyes full of displeasure.
Everything had been fine before Celestia came. Ever since she arrived at the White Manor, there hadn't been a moment of peace.
"It's not that, Grandpa. I just want to have some private time with Sophia."
Finnley held Sophia's slender, fair wrist tightly, his eyes full of tender affection.
Sophia also turned to look at him, a hint of smile in her eyes.
Her hand hidden under the table grasped Finnley's hand back, their fingers intertwining.
Watching the interaction between Finnley and Sophia, Preston couldn't tell if he felt more comforted or reluctant.
Finally, he sighed helplessly, "Alright, you're already married. You should indeed have your own private space. It's right for you to move back."
As soon as he finished speaking, a sharp, piercing voice suddenly rang out at the table, "No, I don't agree!"
Celestia stood up from her chair abruptly, looking at Finnley and Sophia with disbelief in her eyes.
They couldn't leave!
How could they leave?
If they left the White Manor, Matthew would definitely stop coming.
Then all her efforts would be wasted!
No way!
Sophia looked at her in confusion, not understanding why she was reacting so strongly.
If there was anyone in the White family who would want her to move out, it would definitely be Celestia.
So Celestia's reaction today was too abnormal.
Preston's face darkened terribly as he scolded harshly, "Celestia, what are you making a fuss about?"
She was the one who said Sophia should leave the White Manor before, and now that Sophia was leaving, she was the one disagreeing.
Celestia was startled by the sudden scolding, and her momentum instantly weakened.
"Grandpa, I don't mean anything else. I just hope Benjamin can stay."
Although she didn't like Sophia at all, she had to admit that Sophia still had use value to her.
She couldn't pass up any opportunity to see Matthew.
She had fallen for Matthew at first sight two years ago.
But Matthew's attitude toward her had always been cold and indifferent. No matter how she tried to win him over, he remained unmoved.
Sometimes he would even show disgust toward her.
She wanted to get close to Matthew, but she didn't even have his contact information.
She had secretly gone to the Lumina Group before, but she didn't even get to see Matthew and was thrown out by the receptionist.
She had never dared to tell anyone about these things, especially not Sophia.
Finnley laughed coldly, looking at Celestia with mockery in his eyes, "Hope I stay? Are you sure?"
Finnley's deep eyes flashed with sharp, cold light, like a blade just drawn from its sheath, sharp and icy.
Meeting his gaze, Celestia shivered violently, all her words stuck in her throat, unable to say a single word.
"Enough, Celestia, do you know what you're doing? After you finish eating, go back to your room and reflect." Preston angrily threw his fork on the table.
He had no appetite to eat anymore.
"Grandpa, you can't treat me like this..."
Celestia's eyes immediately reddened, countless grievances welling up.
She turned her pleading gaze to Sophia, bit her lip, and begged desperately, "Sophia, I won't target you anymore. Please, can you not leave?"
Her attitude changed so suddenly that Sophia didn't react immediately.
She asked suspiciously, "Celestia, why do you want me to stay?"
Celestia suddenly choked, not knowing how to explain.
In the end, she couldn't come up with any reason.
Sophia looked at her calmly, then slowly shook her head, "If you won't say, forget it. I'm not that interested in hearing it anyway."
"Wait! I'll tell you—"
Celestia panicked and blurted out, "Sophia, please, I like Matthew. Can you help me arrange to meet him?"
Sophia looked at Celestia in shock, thinking she had heard wrong, "You want me to arrange a meeting with who?"
Celestia was so embarrassed she wanted to find a hole to crawl into.
But thinking this was her only chance, she said it out loud.
"Matthew! I like Matthew. Sophia, I'm your sister after all. You'll help me, right?"
Cillian, who had been silent all along, suddenly burst out laughing.
Celestia was deeply stung by his sudden mockery. She asked coldly, "What are you laughing at? What's so funny?"
"Laughing at how ridiculous you are. Celestia, before, you called Sophia a bitch at every turn, and now that you need her, you've changed your tune?"
Cillian had always been straightforward, saying whatever was on his mind, never beating around the bush.
He didn't hide his disgust for Celestia at all.
Celestia had been pampered since childhood. When had she ever been treated like this?
The grievances in her heart surged out, and tears fell uncontrollably.
She bit her lip and looked at Sophia stubbornly, expecting Sophia's response.
Unfortunately, she was disappointed.
Sophia didn't want to help her.
Celestia's behavior was even more disgusting than openly targeting her.
Before, she had always thought Celestia targeted her because she held a grudge about Magnolia being kicked out of the White family.
She never imagined that Matthew was also part of the reason.
No wonder Celestia suddenly said in front of Finnley yesterday that she and Matthew were involved.
So Celestia suspected that Matthew liked her.
Sophia looked at her mockingly, "You slandered my relationship with Matthew for your own selfish reasons, and you still want me to help you?"
If Celestia really liked Matthew, she should pursue him openly and honestly.
Not use various means to target her as an imaginary rival.
Sophia felt contempt for Celestia's behavior.
"I... I'm sorry, I apologize to you! Please, you must help me. If it really works out, I'll remember your kindness for the rest of my life."
Celestia bit her lower lip grievously, tears in her eyes.
"Sorry, I can't help you with this." Sophia stood up, pulled Finnley along, and left without looking back.
Watching Finnley and Sophia's departing figures, Celestia's legs suddenly went weak, and she collapsed into her chair.
