Chapter 375 Matthew Can't Do It
Sophia tilted her head back, looking at him with calm eyes.
Finnley, who had just been so fierce in defending him, now looked like a child who had done something wrong, head lowered, not daring to meet her gaze.
For some reason, a bitter feeling suddenly welled up in her heart.
She pressed her lips together, reached out to cup Finnley's chin, and made him look at her.
"Finnley! I'm angry! And the consequences are serious!"
"Sophia, I'm sorry, I..."
Finnley's eyes flickered as he tried to move closer to Sophia.
He didn't know what was wrong with him. Just the thought of Sophia being coveted by another man made him feel terrible.
In his subconscious, he had already marked Sophia as his territory, a treasure he wanted to protect for the rest of his life.
Now that his exclusive treasure was being eyed by someone else, he naturally felt panicked.
Sophia glared at him fiercely, reached out to open the door, and pushed him out.
"I think you need to cool down. Until you figure things out, you're sleeping in the study."
With that, she closed the door.
Before Finnley could say anything, the door was already shut.
He stared at the closed door, a trace of panic rising in his heart.
Was Sophia really angry with him this time?
But he didn't think he was wrong.
He had just said what was on his mind, not wanting any unnecessary misunderstandings between them because of a third person.
They had already lost two years because of his disappearance. If they didn't clear things up in advance, it would definitely deepen the misunderstandings later.
He knocked on the door and said to the person inside, "Sophia, can you open the door? I really didn't mean anything else..."
"Sophia..."
But no matter how much he called, there was no sound from inside the room.
Finnley pressed his ear against the door and listened carefully, but still heard nothing.
He stepped back a few paces, considering whether he would get beaten if he kicked the door down.
In the end, he gave up. If he really kicked it down, he was sure it wouldn't be as simple as just sleeping in the study.
He leaned against the door and sighed deeply, explaining to himself, "Sophia, I'm not doubting you. I'm just too scared, scared of losing you."
"Sophia, can you please open the door?"
Inside the room, Sophia had been standing behind the door the whole time.
She slowly slid down along the door and crouched on the floor, unable to help feeling a bit wronged.
He had just called her his treasure, and how long had it been before he started doubting her!
Jerk, stay outside!
If she didn't teach him a lesson, he'd really think she had no temper.
A few minutes later, when there was finally no movement outside, Sophia slowly stood up and pressed her ear against the door to listen.
There was no sound outside. Had Finnley actually left?
He said he wanted to apologize, but he had no persistence at all.
Sophia turned the doorknob indignantly and quietly opened the door a crack.
She looked outside through the gap, scanning around but seeing no one. She couldn't tell if she felt angry or disappointed.
"Finnley, Benjamin! Jerk!"
Sophia angrily grabbed the doorknob, about to close the door, when suddenly a slender hand reached out and blocked her from closing it.
Then, a low groan suddenly sounded.
Sophia's pupils contracted, and she hurriedly opened the door. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?"
She grabbed Finnley's hand, the concern in her eyes completely undisguised.
Finnley lowered his eyes, his gaze fixed on her without blinking, a hint of amusement seeping into his eyes.
"Yes, it hurts a bit."
Hearing him say it hurt, Sophia panicked even more. She grabbed his hand, wanting to roll up his sleeve to take a look.
Finnley just leaned against the doorframe, letting her do as she pleased.
It wasn't until Sophia rolled up his sleeve and found not a single mark on Finnley's arm that she finally realized she'd been tricked.
She looked up at Finnley. "Is it fun to trick me?"
Finnley's lips curved into a smile. "I didn't trick you. It really did hurt just now, but it's much better now."
"You..." Sophia was so angry she couldn't speak. She pointed outside the door. "Since you're fine, get out. I've decided—you're banned from the bedroom for a month."
Jerk!
Go regret it!
Finnley's smile froze. "Isn't a month a bit too long?"
"I think the timing is just right." Sophia's eyes curved as she made a "please" gesture toward him.
Finnley looked at her for a moment, then softened his tone and moved closer. "Sophia, I know I was wrong. Can you forgive me?"
Sophia glanced at him sideways. "Really? Then where did you go wrong? Explain in detail."
"I shouldn't have randomly doubted your relationship with Matthew."
"And?"
"...I shouldn't have pretended to be pitiful to trick you."
Finnley sneaked a glance at Sophia. Seeing her calm expression, he breathed a slight sigh of relief.
But his heart was still hanging high, waiting for Sophia's judgment.
Sophia nodded casually. "Okay, I got it. You can go now."
With that, she made a move to close the door, about to shut Finnley out again.
Finnley hurriedly reached out to stop her. Having learned from the previous lesson, Sophia didn't dare use too much force when closing the door, which gave him an opportunity.
He braced one hand against the doorframe and held the door with the other, pleading in a low voice, "Sophia, I really know I was wrong. Can you let me in?"
Sophia released the doorknob, crossed her arms, and stared at him leisurely.
It wasn't until Finnley felt uncomfortable all over that she asked lightly, "Didn't you never actually kneel on the keyboard last time?"
Finnley: "..."
He suddenly had an ominous feeling.
Sure enough, the next second, he heard Sophia continue, "Perfect timing. You can make up for last time along with this time."
Looking at the keyboard Sophia had pulled out from the closet, Finnley's lips twitched slightly.
He asked uncertainly, "Really have to kneel?"
"If you dare to do it, you have to face the consequences. Come on." Sophia threw the keyboard on the floor and casually stuffed the knee pads that came as a gift from the seller back into the box.
Finnley looked at Sophia, then at the keyboard with its sharp edges, feeling both helpless and amused.
He never thought that in his lifetime, kneeling on a keyboard would happen to him.
But it seemed he had no other choice.
Kneeling on a keyboard? So what?
No knee pads? So what?
A real man doesn't need knee pads to kneel on a keyboard.
Today he would show Sophia that her husband could be tough even while kneeling on a keyboard.
Make him surrender?
Impossible!
Finnley gritted his teeth and was about to bend down and kneel.
At that moment, Sophia suddenly spoke up, "Don't kneel here, it'll disturb my sleep. Go kneel in the study, and remember to send me a video. I'll check."
Finnley immediately deflated, looking at Sophia with a wronged expression. "Honey, isn't this a bit too cruel? Don't you feel bad for me?"
Sophia's expression didn't change. "No. When you doubted me just now, weren't you pretty decisive? Why are you backing down now?"
Finnley defended himself, "I'm not backing down. I was just discussing with you. Our Sophia is gentle, cute, and understanding... It's normal for people to like you, but Matthew can't."
"Why can't he?" Sophia asked, puzzled.
Finnley took a deep breath and slowly began to explain, "Because he's a different kind of existence to you."
Sophia and Matthew had grown up together since childhood. That was a natural advantage.
On this point, Matthew clearly had the upper hand compared to him.
Yes, he had now completely positioned Matthew as a romantic rival.
Whether this was true or not, he had to eliminate all possibilities.
