Chapter 361 Wedding Room
After the group left, someone who had been hiding in the shadows eavesdropping slowly emerged.
"They really came back? Mr. White's information was spot on."
When Chase received the news, he thought Finnley was joking with him.
Back then, he was the one who personally arranged for Hayden to get addicted to gambling. The last time he heard news about them was a month ago.
He'd heard that Hayden and Isabella had long been dirt poor, living each day on the run from debt collectors.
He figured Hayden and Isabella wouldn't pose any threat anymore, so he withdrew the people monitoring them.
Who would've thought that in just a month, they'd actually returned to Novaria?
You really can't judge a book by its cover.
He had underestimated Hayden and Isabella.
Staring at their retreating figures, Chase waved his hand at his subordinates behind him, "Follow them. Be careful not to get spotted, and report to me constantly."
"Yes, sir."
Meanwhile, Isabella was pulled into the car and fell heavily onto the back seat, her head spinning.
Hayden wasn't much better off, but to survive, he could only grit his teeth and bear it.
Soon, the car drove into an upscale villa district and stopped at the innermost one.
"You'll stay here for now. Someone will be assigned to take care of your daily needs."
Isabella and Hayden's eyes lit up, and the gloom that had built up in their hearts instantly vanished.
Such a luxurious villa—even the Brown Villa from two years ago couldn't compare to a third of it.
After living in a dark, damp, cramped rental for so long, when Isabella got out of the car, her feet felt soft and unreal.
Was this really for them to live in?
"What are you standing there for? Get inside!" The lead man barked, startling Isabella and Hayden. They hurriedly grabbed their few belongings and headed toward the villa.
Once inside, the man spoke: "Don't think this house is yours just because you're staying here. From now on, you must follow my orders. If you don't do well, I can kick you out anytime."
The man's critical and disdainful gaze swept over Hayden and Isabella, his lips curling into a mocking smile.
If Isabella and Hayden weren't still somewhat useful, he wouldn't bother dealing with these two idiots.
Hayden snapped to attention and bowed obsequiously to the man, "Don't worry, we'll definitely do our best to complete the task."
"That's better."
The man coldly dropped that line and left without looking back.
Not far from the villa, under the shade of trees, a black Maybach was parked with someone inside constantly looking out.
Seeing those stern-faced men in black suits emerge, he immediately tensed up.
He called Chase to report: "Chase, they're in the car now. Should we keep following?"
"Follow them. Don't get too close. Send more people to watch around the villa. Let me know immediately if Hayden and Isabella make any moves," Chase instructed in a low voice.
When he took the call, Chase was standing in the hallway. Alaric happened to pass by and caught that last sentence.
He paused, his brow furrowing slightly. After Chase hung up, he asked, "What happened? Didn't Hayden and Isabella leave the country ages ago?"
"Just got back, and they've hooked up with people from GeneCipher Society."
Alaric's expression darkened, a cold glint flashing through his deep eyes. "Hayden and Isabella really won't give up. Keep people on them."
"Will do."
Chase silently marveled—brothers indeed, Alaric and Finnley were completely in sync.
"By the way, Mr. White, isn't the White family dinner coming up in the next few days? Do you need me to adjust your schedule?"
The White family held a dinner every month—basically just having a meal with Preston, a family gathering.
Whenever there was a family dinner, Lachlan's family, who had long since moved out, would come back and stay for a few days.
Now Arabella and Celestia had learned to be smart, hiding their claws in front of Preston, but they still secretly targeted Sophia behind the scenes.
Last time Finnley returned to the White Manor, it happened to be when that mother-daughter pair was staying there.
After Finnley moved back, Arabella and Celestia—probably guilty from all their scheming—used to want to stay at the White Manor as long as possible, but that night they actually volunteered to leave.
Just thinking about it felt satisfying!
Alaric nodded. "Cancel my schedule for that day."
"Mr. White, you're getting better and better at managing the company," Chase said, following behind Alaric, unable to help but comment.
Alaric used to be very resistant to taking over the company, only wanting to focus on research.
At first, he'd been worried Alaric wouldn't be able to handle many things, but his concerns turned out to be completely unnecessary.
Alaric shot him a sideways glance. "Cut it out. You'd better convince Finnley to come back soon. I don't want to suffer here."
He didn't enjoy business at all—dealing with so many people every day, having to weigh every word.
It was exhausting.
When he focused on research, he didn't need to think about anything else—just being focused enough was sufficient.
Chase chuckled. "Mr. White, Finnley's busy building his relationship with Sophia right now. You'll have to bear with it a bit longer."
Finnley had made it clear to him that he absolutely wouldn't return to the White Group until he recovered his memory.
On one hand, he had no recollection of the White Group's business; on the other, he was worried people from GeneCipher Society might use him against the White Group.
Of course, the most important reason was that he wanted to free up more time to spend with Sophia.
So Finnley really couldn't return to the White Group anytime soon.
Alaric rubbed his temples and waved him off. "Alright, alright, get going. Didn't Finnley ask you to pick him up? Go on."
These two were treating him like a doormat.
Chase left with a grin, driving back to the White Manor to pick up Finnley and take him to his own company.
M was busy with other matters lately and had no time for company business, so he'd dumped the whole mess on Finnley.
"Mr. Benjamin White, do you need any help? Mr. Alaric White gave me the day off, so I'm all yours today!" Chase said while driving, glancing at the back seat through the rearview mirror.
Finnley was currently leaning against the back seat, his deep eyes fixed on his laptop screen.
Hearing this, he looked up and gave Chase a brief glance. "Alaric's not busy?"
"Not too bad. He mainly has two meetings today, everything else is minor stuff."
Finnley nodded knowingly, then asked, "Found out where Hayden and Isabella are staying?"
"Over at Lakeview Villa, very close to your and Mrs. White's marital home."
"Marital home?" Finnley raised an eyebrow. How come he didn't know about a marital home?
Chase explained quietly, "It's not really a new house. It's where you lived when you moved out of the White Manor. After you and Mrs. White got married, you renovated it."
"Then why has Sophia been staying at the White Manor all this time?"
"Actually, at first Mr. Preston White didn't quite trust Mrs. White's medical skills. He was worried something might happen to you, so he made up an excuse to have you both move back to the White Manor."
"Later you did move back, but after your accident, Mrs. White locked herself in her room drinking, completely dejected. Mr. Preston White was worried something would happen to her, so he had her move back."
Finnley lowered his eyes, a dense, throbbing pain spreading through his chest.
