Chapter 327 Sophia is the White family's Lucky Star
Thaddeus was silent for a moment, then asked, "You just said the recording mentioned Celestria and Wilford?"
"Yes."
"Take it to the tech department and have them analyze that conversation carefully. If Wilford is really involved, we can't just let this go."
"Okay, I'll go right away."
After receiving the instruction, Sidney turned and headed to the tech department.
Just then, Cillian limped over, clutching his injured arm.
Cillian wanted to call out to Sidney, but realized he didn't actually know his name, which made things awkward for a moment.
Fortunately, Sidney didn't make a big deal of it. He stopped and looked over questioningly, "Cillian, what's up?"
"Thank you guys for saving me. If it weren't for you, I would've been kidnapped."
Thinking back to that heart-stopping scene, Cillian couldn't help but feel shaken.
Sidney shook his head lightly, his tone casual, "If you really want to thank someone, thank Sophia."
Remembering what Thaddeus had said, Sidney felt more curious about Sophia.
If Sophia hadn't specifically made that request to Thaddeus, Cillian would probably have been kidnapped already.
"Sophia?" Cillian's eyes widened in shock. "What's going on?"
Sidney glanced at his watch and, seeing there was still time, briefly explained, "Sophia probably figured out early on that this group would target the White family, so she had us secretly protect them."
After speaking, Sidney left without looking back.
Cillian stood there stunned, Sidney's words echoing in his mind, unable to react for a long time.
So Sophia knew someone would deliberately target the White family?
That meant the people who kidnapped him weren't after him specifically—their target was actually the entire White family?
Cillian's heart jumped, and he immediately went to find Thaddeus to get his phone back.
As soon as Cillian got his phone, he called Alaric, but no one answered.
Hearing the busy signal, Cillian felt even more uneasy.
"Thaddeus, can I leave now?"
He just wanted to get back to White Manor as quickly as possible and figure out what was really going on.
Thaddeus thought for a moment, then nodded, "Yes, just sign over there and you can go."
"Okay, thank you for today." Though Cillian was usually carefree, he understood the other person's status was unusual.
He signed his name and prepared to leave the NSA.
As soon as he walked out the door, he saw a familiar car slowly stop in front of him.
Preston got out with his cane, his face full of worry. "Cillian, are you okay? Are you hurt?"
"Grandpa, why did you come? I'm fine." Cillian quickly stepped forward to support Preston's arm, speaking softly to comfort him.
Preston sighed deeply. "As long as you're okay, that's all that matters. When I saw your message, I knew something was wrong. Good thing you were smart enough to leave a clue."
"That's why I'm your grandson! I inherited all these good genes from you!" Cillian praised generously, making Preston laugh heartily.
After Preston and Cillian returned home together, Preston brought Cillian to the study.
Cillian described what happened in general, then voiced his confusion. "Grandpa, we really have Sophia to thank this time. Sidney said the NSA had people watching near our house for several days."
"You're right, we really have Sophia to thank this time. Sophia is truly the White family's lucky star!"
Harmony City.
Sophia walked out of the study and sat down in the pavilion.
Dane's yard was filled with flowers everywhere, and a rich floral scent wafted over.
Suddenly, her nose tickled and she couldn't help but sneeze twice.
A hearty laugh came from outside the pavilion. "Do you have a cold?"
"Dane!"
Sophia stood up from her chair and walked toward the old man.
Dane looked well. Ever since Robert came back and resolved the conflict from over twenty years ago with him, Dane had let go of what was weighing on his heart.
Dane had been depressed before, but now his whole state was much better.
"The last time you came here was half a year ago."
Dane couldn't help but sigh.
Sophia helped him sit down, feeling a bit guilty. "Sorry, Dane, that was my fault. I'll come visit more often with Finnley from now on."
"I'm happy whenever you come visit, no matter when. You're always welcome." Dane patted Sophia's shoulder, his eyes full of affection.
Sophia's eyes curved into a smile, a gentle expression on her face.
She looked completely well-behaved.
After a moment of silence, Sophia suddenly asked, "Dane, if the person you love doesn't remember you anymore, what would you do?"
Dane paused, then thought of the rumors he'd heard about Benjamin.
He considered carefully before speaking. "Sophia, not everyone in this world is lucky enough to have smooth sailing their whole life. The same goes for relationships."
"I understand the logic, but when I face him, I still can't help feeling sad."
They used to be so good together, so good...
It seemed like everything had vanished with the explosion and fall into the sea two years ago.
"Sophia, actually, when it comes to love, there's no standard answer. The real answer is in your own heart."
"In... my heart?"
Sophia lowered her eyes and placed her hand over her heart, a trace of confusion flashing in her eyes.
Dane nodded. "Losing memories isn't such a big deal. As long as he's still himself and you still love him, isn't that enough? Life is long and short at the same time. Instead of worrying about things you can't change, you might as well live in the present."
Hearing Dane's words, Sophia suddenly felt enlightened. "Thank you, Dane. I know what I should do now."
Dane smiled. "Actually, the real answer was already in your heart. You just needed someone to tell you that your choice is right."
Sophia always knew what she wanted, so she didn't really need other people's opinions.
What she needed was someone standing behind her, firmly supporting her and her choices.
Sophia laughed helplessly. "Dane, I'm just a bit scared..."
"Scared of what?"
"I'm afraid that getting close to him will hurt him. Robert said he was hypnotized, and whenever he gets near me, his head hurts."
She couldn't bear to see him in pain, but she couldn't bear to leave him either.
Dane was silent for a moment, then asked, "Does he know his headaches are because of you?"
"Yes, Robert already told him." Sophia lowered her eyes in disappointment.
"So you're afraid he'll leave you because of this?"
"Yes."
She'd already experienced the pain of losing him once. She didn't want to go through it a second time.
