Chapter 301 Benjamin is Back
After leaving the hotel, Sophia hailed a car on the street and gave the driver her home address.
As soon as she got in, she closed her eyes and leaned back against the seat to rest.
She'd had drinks last night, and her head was still pounding.
Finnley's appearance had been too sudden, stirring up chaos in her heart that had been dead and still.
For a moment, she didn't know what mindset to use when facing him.
As soon as she returned to the White Manor, Sophia heard a mocking voice reach her ears, "Oh, you actually know to come back? Out all night, who knows where you've been fooling around?"
She lazily lifted her eyelids and looked upstairs.
There stood Celestia on the steps, arms crossed, looking down at her from above.
Those fairly delicate and pretty eyes were filled with disgust and contempt.
Sophia's head was foggy and heavy. Not wanting to deal with her, she walked up the steps on her own, planning to go back to her room to rest.
However, Celestia suddenly reached out her hand, blocking her way. "What? Feeling guilty?"
"Move aside." Sophia's voice was cold, her gaze at Celestia seemed coated with a layer of ice.
Celestia unexpectedly met those almond-shaped eyes full of coldness and instinctively took a step back.
Realizing she'd actually been scared by that bitch Sophia's look, the resentment in Celestia's heart grew even stronger.
"I'm talking to you. Are you deaf? No wonder you grew up in some backwater village - you have no manners at all! I have no idea what Benjamin saw in you!"
Sophia glanced at her lightly. "No matter how bad my manners are, I'm still better than you openly yelling at your elders at home."
"You!"
Celestia was left speechless. Suddenly changing tactics, she looked Sophia up and down.
"Dressed so slutty - people who don't know might think you went out to be a prostitute! Don't go around saying you're the White family's granddaughter-in-law. The White family can't afford to lose that much face!"
Sophia looked down at her outfit - a slip dress that went down to her ankles, with a white chiffon cardigan over it.
She'd specifically chosen a conservative style. Basically nothing was showing.
She pulled back the foot she'd stepped forward with and stared at Celestia with interest. "I can't compare to you White family daughters. Even if I went out to be a prostitute, I probably wouldn't have any customers."
Celestia paused for a moment before catching on to what Sophia meant.
Sophia was actually saying that even if she became a prostitute, no man would want her!
"Sophia, you bitch, how dare you insult me! I'm going to tear that mouth of yours apart!" Celestia was so angry her chest heaved violently. She raised her hand and lunged at her.
Sophia felt a gust of wind rushing toward her face. Before her eyes was Celestia's twisted face full of hatred.
She frowned, quickly grabbed Celestia's wrist, and forcefully pushed her away.
To maintain her refined and elegant image at all times, Celestia wore high heels even at home.
Now standing on the steps, when Sophia forcefully pushed her arm away, her body fell backward.
Her breath caught, and her heart nearly stopped.
Just when she thought she would fall down the stairs, a soft, delicate hand grabbed her wrist again and pulled her back.
She'd almost been scared to death just now, nearly falling down.
Even though Celestia had now steadied herself, she was still shaken.
She clenched her teeth and glared at Sophia, the fury in her eyes almost bursting out. "Sophia, you actually dared to push me! Who gave you the nerve? Isn't killing Benjamin enough for you? Do you want to kill me too?"
Benjamin's death was Sophia's sore spot. Her eyes suddenly turned cold. "Shut up! He's not dead!"
"The funeral's already been held. Are you refusing to admit the fact that you killed him? I really don't know what Grandpa was thinking, actually keeping an unlucky person like you in the house. Will you only be satisfied when everyone's been killed by you?" Celestia questioned with a dark expression.
Sophia was quite angry at her words. Just as she was about to retort, a low voice tinged with anger suddenly came from the doorway.
"Who did she kill?"
Hearing the familiar voice, Sophia instinctively turned her head toward the door.
With this look, Sophia froze.
It was Benjamin back!
No, he should be Finnley now.
Wasn't he supposed to still be at the hotel? How did he end up here?
Celestia also noticed Finnley's presence.
Seeing that face identical to Benjamin's, Celestia's eyes filled with disbelief.
"What, what's going on? Are you, are you human or ghost?"
Finnley walked toward the stairs with his long, straight legs.
Hearing Celestia's stuttering question, his thin lips curved up almost imperceptibly. "What do you think?"
Though he was smiling, those deep, dark eyes revealed a bone-chilling coldness.
Celestia suddenly felt a cold wind blow up her spine, shooting straight to the top of her head.
There was an indescribable eerie darkness about Finnley.
Celestia stared at him blankly, instantly feeling like she'd fallen into an ice cave, her legs beginning to tremble uncontrollably.
As Finnley's footsteps drew closer, Celestia suddenly collapsed to the ground, her face turning deathly pale.
Then, an ear-piercing scream echoed throughout the entire villa.
Sophia stared blankly at Finnley in front of her. The next second, her ears were covered by a pair of warm palms.
That piercing scream was blocked out, and in her ears seemed to remain only the increasingly rapid sound of her heartbeat.
Finnley impatiently frowned and pulled Sophia tightly into his arms. "Shut up. You're too noisy."
Finnley's face darkened, his body radiating a cold, powerful aura. Celestia was badly frightened and screamed even louder.
"Don't come near me, go away! Go away! You're not Benjamin. Benjamin is already dead! You're not..."
Before Finnley could make a move, Celestia scrambled up the stairs on her own.
Her entire heart was now occupied by fear. She couldn't even care about the image she usually valued most.
One of Celestia's high heels fell off as she ran, but she didn't bother picking it up. She just limped back to her room like that.
She looked completely disheveled, frightening the servants who had come out to check what was happening after hearing the commotion.
They'd been busy the whole time - some cleaning, some preparing food in the kitchen.
When the servants heard Celestia's scream, thinking something had happened, they rushed out to look.
With this look, they froze.
"Mr. Benjamin White?"
Was it really Benjamin?
One of the older servants pointed at Finnley, her voice trembling. "Is, is this really Mr. Benjamin White? Mr. Benjamin White, is that you?"
Suddenly facing so many pairs of reddened eyes, Finnley felt somewhat uncomfortable and instinctively looked down at Sophia.
Sophia leaned close to his ear and asked in a low voice, "Why did you come? Didn't I tell you to stay at the hotel?"
"Of course I came to back you up." Finnley also lowered his voice, his long, deep eyes brimming with amusement. "What? Am I that unseemly?"
