Chapter 236 The Smith Family of Harmony City
Eldon said, "Mr. White, we found out. It was the Smith family who bailed Isabella out."
"The Smith family? Which Smith family?" Benjamin asked in surprise.
"Which other Smith family has that kind of power? The same Smith family that stole our business a while back and nearly caused us huge losses."
The Smith family of Harmony City, one of the three major wealthy families in Harmony City.
How could the Smith family be connected to Isabella?
Benjamin frowned deeply, then heard Eldon continue, "Mr. White, I specifically looked into the Smith family. Guess what I found?"
"Eldon, you actually know how to keep people in suspense in front of Mr. White now? That's not your style. After a few months away, you've picked up bad habits." Chase raised an eyebrow and teased with a smile.
Eldon glared at him, his eyes full of menace.
Chase touched his nose and awkwardly shut his mouth.
"I'm just kidding, just kidding... Hurry up and tell us what you found out."
Eldon snorted coldly. If he weren't so bad at making people happy and so inflexible in his approach, Benjamin wouldn't have sent him abroad to handle business deals.
"Mr. White, according to my investigation, Mrs. Brown's last name is also Smith. And these past few days, someone saw Mrs. Brown go to Harmony City. I'm not exactly sure what she went there for."
But clearly, there must be some connection between these two things.
Chase thought for a moment, then suddenly stood up, slapping the table. "I remember now!"
Eldon was startled by his sudden movement and couldn't help complaining, "If you're going to talk, just talk. Why so loud?"
Chase ignored Eldon's disdain and spoke on his own, "Mr. White, I remember the Smith family used to have a daughter. For some reason, there was no news about her after that. Could it be... Mrs. Brown is that daughter of the Smith family?"
Chase couldn't help but click his tongue.
The Smith family was a wealthy family in Harmony City. Olivia's taste was pretty poor to have fallen for a jerk like Hayden.
Benjamin leaned back in his chair, lost in thought.
If things were really as Chase guessed, then it made sense for the Smith family to get involved.
At the same time, Sophia also received the news.
Because it concerned Sophia, Sean was paying extra attention to what was happening there, afraid something unexpected might occur.
And something unexpected did happen.
Sophia was still in the lab when she got the call.
After Sophia showed up, the atmosphere in the lab was no longer as gloomy as before. Everyone was very interested in where Sophia had been during this time.
They asked questions one after another.
Sophia patiently shared with them, and the atmosphere was quite lively.
Alaric was also listening nearby, laughing along when she mentioned something interesting.
The lab was usually quiet, with everyone immersed in their experiments, so most of the time it was silent and peaceful.
After Sophia came, she seemed to bring a lot of laughter.
Halfway through the conversation, Sophia's phone suddenly rang.
Everyone quieted down at the same time, waiting for Sophia to answer the call.
"Ms. Brown, something's happened!" Sean's tone was very urgent.
Sophia frowned slightly and asked, "What's wrong? Speak slowly."
Sean took several deep breaths to calm himself down. "There's good news and bad news. Which do you want to hear first?"
Without hesitation, Sophia replied, "You don't want this month's bonus? I can give it to someone else."
Sean's eyes widened in shock, and he quickly told her what happened. "The good news is that the costume photos Joshua posted caught the attention of a very famous magazine photographer in the country. He wants to ask if you'd let him shoot a set of photos."
What kind of good news was that?
"Turn it down. I'm not interested in magazine shoots."
Sean didn't expect Sophia to be so decisive and quickly reminded her, "Ms. Brown, do you know who that photographer is?"
"Who?"
"It's Tyrell Smith! The country's top photographer. Celebrities in the entertainment industry fight to have him shoot their photos and still might not be able to book him!"
Sophia responded coolly, without a ripple of emotion, as if she didn't care about any of this at all.
In fact, she really didn't care.
Sean felt a pang in his chest but continued, "I heard this big shot is from the Smith family in Harmony City, but these are all just rumors."
Sophia made another sound of acknowledgment and said with little interest, "Anything else? If not, I'm hanging up."
Sean: "..."
For some reason, hearing Sophia's tone gave him the illusion that he was the one who hadn't seen much of the world.
But there was no way he would say that out loud.
"Don't hang up! I have more to say! Ms. Brown, here's the thing - I just got word that Isabella has already been released from the police station."
"What happened?" Sophia's tone changed instantly, no longer as casual as before.
Sean explained, "I heard the Smith family from Harmony City bailed her out. I haven't had time to investigate exactly what happened."
Sophia sat in her chair, her pale fingertips lightly tapping on the desk, looking thoughtful.
Harmony City, the Smith family?
When did Isabella get connected with the Smith family? Why was there no hint of it before?
Given Isabella's personality, if she really knew people from the Smith family in Harmony City, she would definitely broadcast it widely and even use that connection to gain benefits for herself.
But she never had.
Didn't this mean that the person who knew the Smith family might not be Isabella at all?
"The magazine shoot you just mentioned - I'll take it."
"What?" Sean suddenly froze, not reacting for a moment.
But Sophia had already hung up.
Sophia was in a bad mood. If Isabella hadn't hurt Benjamin, maybe she wouldn't care so much.
But she shouldn't have hurt him.
Sophia didn't want to tolerate it anymore, and she wasn't willing to.
"What happened?" Alaric asked with concern, and the others also looked over.
Meeting their concerned gazes, a warmth rose in her heart. Sophia briefly explained what happened.
Hannah was the first to speak, "That's too much! This is Silverlight City, the White family's territory! How dare they!"
Silverlight City was the White family's territory, but the Smith family's influence in Harmony City was also not to be underestimated.
But to reach into Silverlight City without asking the White family was indeed a bit much.
For the Smith family to go this far for Isabella - what was their relationship exactly?
Sophia shook her head and said, "I've already had someone look into it. We should have results soon."
As soon as she finished speaking, Alaric said, "No need to investigate. Benjamin already found out. The Smith family has an only daughter who broke ties with the Smith family over some guy and followed that man to Silverlight City."
"What do you mean?" Steven didn't understand. He scratched his head, his eyes full of curiosity.
Alaric glanced at Sophia, and seeing no unusual expression on her face, explained, "That daughter of the Smith family is Mrs. Brown."
Everyone suddenly understood.
This explained everything.
The reason Isabella could get out was because Olivia went to the Smith family for help. The Smith family was a prominent family in Harmony City - how could the police station not give them face?
So Isabella was released just like that, quite naturally.
