Chapter 23 Medical Skills Absolutely Not Inferior to Mine
Even if Sophia was Robert's apprentice, there was no way her medical skills could surpass Elijah's, right?
After all, Elijah had over fifty years of medical experience.
That was something Sophia simply can't compete with.
At that moment, Elijah and Alaric hurried in.
As soon as they entered, they saw Sophia treating Benjamin.
This girl was absolutely reckless!
Elijah was so furious that his hands trembled. Pointing at Preston, he exclaimed, "Are you outta your mind? How could you let such a young girl treat Mr. Benjamin White? What if something goes wrong?"
Preston remained silent.
He had been so desperate that he agreed to let Sophia try.
Now he was terrified, fearing that any mishap would be disastrous for Benjamin.
"Dr. Martinez, please go in and take a look! Don't let Sophia mess around anymore! If this continues, Benjamin might not make it!" Amelia seized the moment, looking extremely anxious.
"Shut up!" Preston's temple throbbed violently.
He scolded, "Benjamin is your son, can't you be more considerate with your words?"
For years, Preston had been most averse to hearing words like "death," "dying," or "passing away."
Every time he heard them, it felt like something was gripping his heart tightly.
It hurt so much he couldn't breathe.
Hearing this, Elijah's expression turned grim as he walked into the bedroom.
He was just about to interrupt, but paused when he noticed Sophia's skillful techniques.
Although this girl was young, her movements were very fluid, as if she had treated Benjamin many times before. Her techniques were proficient.
There was a certain effortless grace to her methods.
The more Elijah watched, the more astonished he became.
This treatment method... why did it seem so familiar?
"Is this Robert's masterpiece?" Elijah realized he had spoken his thoughts out loud.
Alaric whispered to Elijah, "Robert's masterpiece? Dr. Martinez, what is that? I've never heard of it."
Elijah, filled with excitement, waved his hand at Alaric, signaling him to be quiet.
Then, he instinctively took a step closer to observe Sophia's techniques more closely.
Without getting an answer, Alaric scratched his nose and stood quietly to the side.
He wasn't very familiar with this treatment method.
But Robert's medical skills were extraordinary and unfathomable.
Alaric looked at Sophia and suddenly recalled Preston's call from a few days ago, saying Benjamin had gotten married and brought his wife home.
It seemed this was Benjamin's wife.
Sophia didn't notice the onlookers around her.
All her attention was on Benjamin.
Seeing the redness in his eyes gradually fade and him slowly falling asleep, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.
It looked like the symptoms of the poison had been controlled.
With the effects of the Revival Elixir, Benjamin shouldn't have another poisoning episode anytime soon.
Sophia put away her medical tools and exhaled slowly.
She sat down on the edge of the bed, exhausted, her forehead covered in fine sweat.
When she looked up, she saw an older man in a white coat, around fifty or sixty years old, staring at her with excitement.
Behind him was a tall, handsome man with features somewhat similar to Benjamin's, also wearing a white coat.
This must be Benjamin's older brother, Alaric.
"Hey there, I'm Elijah Martinez," said Elijah, usually stern and ill-tempered, but now extending his hand to Sophia with a look of excitement.
Sophia politely greeted Elijah.
Exhausted, Sophia's face was pale, but her exquisite features couldn't be hidden.
Elijah, excited but cautious not to overwhelm Sophia, lowered his voice and asked, "Is this treatment method Robert's masterpiece? Do you know him? What's your relationship with Robert?"
Sophia answered truthfully, "You have a good eye. The treatment method I just used is indeed Robert's masterpiece. He taught it to me."
Elijah's eyes widened in shock, "Robert took on an apprentice? Didn't he vow never to take on a student?"
Robert had been a sensation in the medical community back in the day.
Twenty years ago, he was still a free-spirited man.
But something happened, and overnight, Robert seemed to become a different person.
He said goodbye to all his friends and vanished without a trace.
Many had been searching for Robert's whereabouts over the years, but there had been no news.
Sophia blinked in confusion, "You know my teacher?"
Elijah replied, "Of course! I used to frequently exchange medical knowledge with your teacher. But then he left without a word, and I've been looking for him for over twenty years!"
Talking about this made Elijah angry.
They had promised to explore medical knowledge together, but Robert disappeared without a trace, not even a word.
Standing not far away, Alaric cleared his throat, interrupting Elijah and Sophia's conversation.
He pointed to the sleeping Benjamin and asked, "How is Benjamin?"
At that moment, Amelia suddenly rushed in, her eyes filled with sorrow. "Dr. Martinez, please check Benjamin's condition. Sophia insisted on showcasing her medical skills at such a critical time. She's young and inexperienced compared to you. What if something goes wrong? How will we live with that?"
As she spoke, tears welled up in her eyes.
Elijah felt a bit awkward as Amelia tugged at his sleeve.
If he didn't already know the White family's situation, Elijah might have been fooled by Amelia's act of a concerned mother.
Everyone in Silverlight City knew Amelia wished for Benjamin's early demise.
Moreover, her words clearly framed Sophia's treatment of Benjamin as childish recklessness.
Feeling uncomfortable with how Sophia was being belittled, Elijah cleared his throat and said, "Mrs. Amelia White, rest assured. The poison in Mr. Benjamin White's body has been controlled. Your family is incredibly fortunate this time. Sophia may look young, but her medical skills are definitely on par with mine!"
With that, Elijah suddenly burst into laughter, his voice full of joy and relief.
Amelia was stunned, looking at Elijah in disbelief. She asked, "Dr. Martinez, are you joking? There are only a handful of doctors with skills surpassing yours. How could Sophia be one of them?"
"I never joke about medical skills, Mrs. Amelia White. Shouldn't you be happy that Mr. Benjamin White has a chance to recover?" Elijah looked at Amelia with a serious expression.
