Chapter 194 Do Not Cause Trouble
Benjamin's eyes darkened, and his gaze suddenly changed.
His eyes fell on Sophia's innocent little face, and he chuckled softly, "Can't walk straight? Sooner or later, I'll make sure you truly understand what that feels like."
Benjamin deliberately lowered his voice when speaking, making it sound more like he was muttering to himself.
Sophia didn't catch what he said and asked curiously, "What did you say?"
"Nothing. Food's ready downstairs, go eat." Benjamin cleared his throat and headed downstairs with his long strides.
Sophia immediately followed.
Noticing that Sophia wasn't keeping up, Benjamin immediately slowed down, waiting for her.
Sophia ran over, grabbed his arm, and looked up at him with a bright, charming smile.
Looking at that smile, Benjamin's heart skipped a beat. He reached out to ruffle her hair and led her to the dining table.
After breakfast, Benjamin drove Sophia to the hospital.
Francis was already waiting there. Seeing Sophia appear, he immediately broke into a smile, "Sophia, you're here so early?"
Sophia walked over and looked around at the people who had almost all arrived. She smiled helplessly, "Francis, you're the one who's really early. You probably didn't rest well last night."
"It's fine, this is just normal for our work. But you shouldn't stay up late too often. You need to take care of yourself—you're the treasure of our Oasis University Medical Research Institute!"
Sophia felt a bit embarrassed by the praise. She scratched her head, and her cheeks flushed slightly.
The morning sunlight fell on her face, coating it with a glow that made her look even more radiant and captivating, impossible to look away from.
Many patients who had come early to the hospital stopped in their tracks, their eyes fixed on Sophia.
Benjamin noticed their stares and slowly narrowed his eyes, shooting them an icy look. Everyone shivered.
They rubbed their arms—it was clearly hot summer, yet they felt an inexplicable chill.
When they met Benjamin's murderous gaze, they finally realized what was happening.
They glanced in Sophia's direction, as if seriously weighing their options. In the end, fear of danger took over their hearts, and they ran off.
Only after they had run far away did that cold and threatening gaze from behind disappear, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
So scary!
Thinking back to those eyes they had just met, they all had the same illusion of being close to death.
Sophia had no idea that Benjamin, standing behind her, had scared off several groups of people with just his gaze. She just felt something was strange.
Yesterday there were so many people lining up to see her, but today the number had dropped by more than half.
And quite a few people would rather go to Francis than come to her.
Sophia rested her chin on her hand, feeling curious.
Sophia noticed that the people in line were looking at her strangely, which confused her even more.
She frowned and followed the patients' gazes to look behind her.
Mystery solved.
Benjamin looked fierce and menacing. He was just standing there expressionless, yet somehow made people feel afraid.
Sophia rubbed her forehead helplessly, finding it a bit funny. She tugged at Benjamin's sleeve.
Benjamin had a dark expression on his face, looking at those people who kept staring at Sophia. His face looked frighteningly grim.
Just then, someone tugged at Benjamin's sleeve. He lowered his eyes and met a pair of clear and bright eyes.
"What's wrong?" Benjamin asked.
"Your expression is too scary, you're scaring away all my patients. Go find somewhere else to hide." Sophia hooked Benjamin's pinky finger, her soft tone sounding like she was acting cute.
Benjamin felt like his heart had been scratched by a kitten—it tickled.
If it weren't for all these people around, he would definitely bend down, pick Sophia up, and kiss her thoroughly.
However, since Sophia cared about saving face, Benjamin put away all these little thoughts. He pulled over a chair from the side and sat down, his expression softening considerably. "Is this better? Not scary anymore?"
"Doesn't your company have anything to do? You've been here for several days now. Don't you need to go back and check on things?" Looking at Benjamin sitting next to her, Sophia couldn't help but find it funny.
She didn't expect Benjamin to have such a childish side.
But it was also kind of cute in a way.
"Not going. Eldon's handling things at the company. It doesn't matter if I don't go back for a few days. This place is in the middle of nowhere—I'm not comfortable leaving you here alone." Benjamin rarely spoke so much at once, but every sentence was particularly serious.
Sophia met those deep eyes, and her heart couldn't help but tremble.
She smiled and looked away. "Fine, then just sit here quietly and don't cause me any more trouble."
Benjamin restrained his cold aura, and quite a few people gathered the courage to come over.
A young man in his twenties stepped forward, glanced cautiously at Benjamin, and asked timidly, "Excuse me, can you see me?"
"Of course. What's bothering you? Just briefly describe your symptoms." Facing the first patient brave enough to come see her, Sophia had extra patience.
She smiled, her clear eyes looking at him, serious and sincere.
The young man looked at Sophia, and his face instantly flushed. He started stammering, "My... my stomach doesn't feel well."
Sophia nodded and said, "Let me examine you first."
The young man glanced at Benjamin but still gathered his courage and did as told, rolling up his sleeves to reveal a wrist that was somewhat too pale.
Benjamin extended his own wrist, casually placing it on the table in front of him. After a simple comparison, he scoffed inwardly.
A man with wrists as thin as bamboo sticks, no strength at all.
After comparing, Benjamin calmly withdrew his hand, the corners of his mouth curving into a slight smile, even feeling a bit smug inside.
His Sophia still preferred his type of man.
Sophia had no idea about his little actions. She asked, "Have you eaten leftovers recently? Have you been vomiting and having diarrhea for several days?"
The young man nodded, a glimmer of hope appearing on his pale face. "Doctor, my stomach has been uncomfortable these past few days, but I couldn't figure out why. Now that you mention it, I think I really did eat leftovers."
When the heavy rain first came, he didn't take it seriously and didn't think to stock up.
His place was empty, and when he tried to order delivery, no restaurants would accept the order.
That morning he was so hungry that he had no choice but to eat a bowl of leftovers to barely fill his stomach.
He didn't expect to start having diarrhea after that.
From that day until now, several days had already passed.
