Chapter 150 What Stupid Thing Did You Do Again
"Magnolia!" Benjamin gritted his teeth, staring hard at the woman on the screen.
After pushing Sophia into the lake, Magnolia took a couple of steps forward, seemingly checking whether Sophia could swim.
A slight smirk of triumph played on her face.
The video ended there.
Benjamin lowered his eyes, making it impossible for anyone to see what he was really feeling.
Oscar leaned back on the sofa, legs crossed, radiating an aura almost equal to Benjamin's.
"Sophia is precious to all of us brothers. What gives the White family the right to let her suffer like this? If you don't give me a satisfactory explanation today, I'll handle this myself."
With Matthew's status and position, dealing with an orphaned girl would be a piece of cake.
Right now, he wanted to know Benjamin's attitude more.
If Benjamin disappointed him even slightly, he'd never see Sophia again in this lifetime.
"Don't worry, I definitely won't let her off easy."
After a long silence, Benjamin's thin lips parted, his low, hoarse voice carrying bone-chilling killing intent.
Chase, standing behind him, couldn't help but feel a chill down his spine, his shoulders shrinking slightly.
Based on his understanding of Benjamin, he was very angry right now—extremely angry, the kind of angry where he wanted to kill someone.
"Better be." Oscar's lips curved slightly, though the smile didn't reach his eyes.
He said, "Sophia will be recovering at my place during this time. I hope the White family won't disturb her. Also, besides Magnolia, there's your mother too."
"Sophia, is she okay?" Benjamin's hands at his sides clenched into fists, his lips trembling slightly.
"No! She's been unconscious for three days and nights. If it weren't for saving you, she couldn't have held on alone for so long. Benjamin, she just has delayed pain sensitivity, but when she feels pain, it's ten times worse than normal people!"
Mentioning Sophia, Matthew's smile immediately dropped. "She's well-behaved, but that's not a reason for people to bully her!"
He forcefully suppressed the urge to beat Benjamin up, saying coldly, "Don't change the subject! I know everything your mother did to Sophia."
Benjamin clenched his hands, veins bulging on his pale knuckles, his heart feeling like it was being stabbed repeatedly by countless needles.
He lowered his eyes and laughed bitterly.
How stupid he was. It wasn't like he hadn't experienced attacks himself. That kind of pain—he thought he was the only one in the world who could experience it.
Turns out, Sophia had been enduring it too, without him knowing.
It was all his fault.
He knew too little about Sophia.
How did such a delicate, soft girl manage to hold on?
How much suffering must she have endured?
Benjamin couldn't imagine, and didn't dare to think further.
After a long while, he said in a deep voice, "I won't let anyone who hurt Sophia get away with it."
"Better be. I'll wait for your results." Matthew sneered, stood up from the sofa, and left without looking back.
Oscar picked up the laptop, expressionlessly nodded at the White family members, and quickly followed him out.
After Matthew and Oscar left, the living room fell into an eerie silence.
Benjamin's handsome face was dark.
"What else happened while I was unconscious? Did Amelia do something stupid again?"
Chase's heart jumped.
He quietly moved, stepping backward, wanting to distance himself from Benjamin.
Because he knew better than anyone that Benjamin was on the edge of rage right now, just barely holding onto a thread of rationality.
In a little while, that might not be the case.
"Chase."
Chase's steps paused slightly, almost tripping over his own right foot. Luckily he grabbed the back of the sofa, preventing himself from falling.
Benjamin slowly turned his head, his voice dropping to freezing point. "Speak. What did Amelia do while I was unconscious?"
Chase glanced at Alaric beside him, looking hesitant.
Alaric met his gaze and nodded slightly.
Only then did Chase finally make up his mind and recount what happened that night.
After hearing it, Benjamin lowered his eyes, hands tightly clasped together, saying nothing, eerily quiet.
Chase couldn't figure out what Benjamin was thinking for a moment and continued, "I've seen those photos. They were taken when Mrs. White met Mr. Moore at the coffee shop. The person who took them was probably Ms. White Celestia."
"Birds of a feather." Benjamin's lips slowly curved into a mocking smile. He stood up from the sofa and headed upstairs.
Chase quietly looked at Alaric, but saw that Alaric also looked confused, not knowing what Benjamin intended to do.
"Follow him first. Benjamin's emotions probably aren't very stable right now." Alaric spoke first, walking in Benjamin's direction.
Benjamin went straight to the third floor, to Amelia's room.
He didn't knock, just barged right in.
When pushing the door, he deliberately didn't control his strength, so the door slammed hard against the wall, making a deafening noise.
At that moment, Amelia was sitting on the balcony drinking coffee.
She wore an elegant dark blue dress with night-blooming flowers decorating the front, making her look even more refined and elegant, with a touch of dignified grace.
She was kneeling, with freshly brewed coffee in front of her, steam rising.
Hearing the door open, her hand holding the coffee paused, a flash of surprise in her eyes.
"Benjamin? You're awake?" Looking at Benjamin slowly approaching, Amelia suddenly felt uncomfortable.
Actually, Sophia and Alaric were right—her resentment toward Benjamin did have an element of self-deception.
But she had hated for so long. Resenting Benjamin had almost become her motivation and support for living. How could she just change that?
She scolded in a deep voice, "Who told you to barge in here? Get out! You have no manners at all. How did I give birth to a son like you?"
Benjamin walked forward with steady steps, not retreating because of Amelia's words.
He walked straight up to Amelia, looking down at that face that resembled his somewhat, his lips curving into a cold, bloodthirsty smile.
"Amelia, didn't I tell you to stay away from Sophia and stop provoking her?" Benjamin's voice was cold and hoarse, the slightly rising tone at the end full of danger.
Amelia's expression stiffened for a moment, then quickly returned to normal.
She snorted coldly and leisurely took a sip of coffee. "Did that little bitch Sophia come to complain to you? I knew she..."
Before she could finish, a large, powerful hand gripped her throat tightly, squeezing hard.
She screamed, a trace of panic rising in her heart, but more than that was anger.
