Chapter 148 The Lady Was Pushed Down
Benjamin's tense body suddenly went limp, and he collapsed onto the bed, his face even paler and weaker.
"Benjamin!" Alaric nervously rushed to the bedside to carefully check his condition.
Chase frowned, suddenly feeling a wave of panic and helplessness.
"Mr. Alaric White, why did Mr. Benjamin White pass out?"
Alaric: "...He's overwhelmed with anxiety and anger, but it's nothing serious. Sophia said his poison can be cured, so it definitely can be. It's just that Benjamin can't get past this mental block."
Anyone would have trouble accepting something like this, right?
Especially Benjamin, who loves Sophia so much.
Benjamin on the hospital bed was pale as a sheet. Even with his eyes tightly closed, it couldn't hide his handsome, cold features. The blood on his lips hadn't dried yet, staining them a strangely eerie color.
The vivid red and extreme white formed a sharp contrast.
He looked more like an evil spirit just crawled out of hell, making people afraid to approach.
Chase let out a big sigh of relief, patting his chest and silently thanking God by the window.
"Mr. White has survived a great disaster - he'll surely have good fortune!"
"That's enough. Why don't you go to church and pray for your Mr. White?" Alaric gave him a disgusted look.
Chase: "A mental thank you is enough."
Alaric laughed helplessly and teased, "Didn't you say you'd work yourself to death for Benjamin? Can't even do this small thing?"
Chase felt there was something odd about Alaric's smile, and even felt a chill down his spine.
So what kind of weirdos surround Benjamin?
He chuckled and shook his head, instructing, "You stay here and look after Benjamin. I'm going to the lab first."
"Okay, I guarantee I'll complete the mission."
After Alaric left, Chase stayed by the bedside without moving an inch.
Benjamin on the bed was restless even in his sleep.
His brows were tightly furrowed, his thin lips pressed into a straight line, his handsome face full of pain.
Chase could clearly hear Benjamin muttering in his dreams, calling Sophia's name.
"Sophia..."
"Sophia..."
Chase was moved by their love again.
Benjamin showed off their love when he was awake, and now he's thinking about Sophia even in his sleep!
Is this a collapse of morals or a distortion of human nature?
Chase felt he'd been working hard and doing his duty during this time.
If Benjamin doesn't give him a raise, it would be unfair to how dedicated he's been!
Looking at Benjamin's pale face, Chase silently hoped he'd get a promotion and raise soon!
He still needs to save money to get married!
He'll definitely marry a girl as beautiful and kind as Sophia in the future.
Thinking this, Chase couldn't help but smile, and his heartbeat inexplicably quickened.
Maple Grove Villas.
The tall and upright Matthew sat by the bed, his deep eyes staring intently at the sleeping Sophia on the bed.
Sophia lay on the soft bed, only her fair and delicate face showing.
Her features were exquisite, her lips as pink and delicate as cherry blossoms. Her skin was white as snow, smooth as cream, though the paleness gave her a sickly beauty.
"How long has Sophia been asleep?" Matthew asked.
The servant behind him thought for a moment and respectfully replied, "About twenty hours. She hasn't woken up once."
Matthew leaned down, gently touching Sophia's forehead with the back of his hand, then checked all her vital signs again.
Only after confirming Sophia was fine did he slowly breathe a sigh of relief.
After a while, he stood up and walked toward the door.
He instructed the servant behind him, "Take good care of Sophia. If she wakes up, call me immediately."
The servant said "okay," and Matthew left.
He drove back to the company and finished all the documents on hand, tiredly rubbing his temples.
There was suddenly a knock at the door. Matthew lowered his hand, his voice cold: "Come in."
Oscar pushed the door open, walked to the desk, and said, "Mr. Moore, Benjamin woke up once, but now he's unconscious again."
The corners of Matthew's lips pressed down, and he sneered, "Using Sophia's life-saving medicine, yet he sleeps so peacefully."
The Lumina Group and the White Group weren't exactly rivals, but they had very little business dealings.
The entire Silverlight City was the White Family's domain, but Matthew had developed the Lumina Group into a powerhouse in just a few years, even able to stand equal with the Whites - that definitely wasn't just luck.
He had enough impressive credentials.
Oscar lowered his eyes and asked, "Mr. Moore, I just investigated and found that Ms. Brown accidentally fell into the lake at Ronin's birthday party. I checked the surveillance - Ms. Brown was pushed in."
"What?" Matthew's face changed dramatically. He slammed his hand on the desk. "Speak! What happened?"
Even from a distance, Oscar could feel the icy aura emanating from Matthew.
He nervously swallowed and roughly explained what happened.
"When Ms. Brown was pushed into the lake, her poison must have flared up, which gave someone the opportunity."
Matthew sneered, his lips curving into a mocking arc. "Can't even protect a woman - what right does he have to be Sophia's husband?"
Oscar hesitated, then continued, "When Ms. Brown fell in the water, Benjamin's poison also flared up. He probably couldn't attend to her in time..."
Matthew's face darkened, and he sneered, "What? Did you take benefits from Benjamin? Why are you speaking up for him today?"
"No! Absolutely not! Mr. Moore, I'm completely loyal to you!" Oscar immediately pledged his loyalty, smiling especially earnestly.
Matthew scoffed, "You better not dare! Did you find out who pushed Ms. Brown into the water? Daring to touch Sophia in Silverlight City - they're asking for death!"
Oscar clearly felt the oppressive pressure on him disappear.
He raised his hand to wipe the sweat from his forehead, handing him a USB drive. "Found her. It's the White Family's adopted daughter, Magnolia Belle. I heard that when Ms. Brown married into the White Family..."
Halfway through, Matthew's cold, deadly gaze swept over.
Oscar stumbled over his words and immediately corrected himself: "During Ms. Brown's time living with the White Family, this Ms. Belle has always been at odds with Ms. Brown. I heard she even tried to seduce Benjamin three years ago."
A loud crash suddenly rang out, startling Oscar.
Looking carefully, he saw Matthew's phone had been thrown to the ground, instantly shattered into pieces.
