Chapter 123 Who Did You Ask to Leave?
Magnolia's soft and gentle voice came from outside the door, and Sophia shuddered hard.
Yesterday it was a respectful title, today it's already become "sister"?
That changed really fast!
Thinking of Magnolia's intentional and unintentional targeting, Sophia let out a deep sigh.
Who says troublemakers are all women?
Men are just as bad.
Fortunately, Benjamin was faithful and wouldn't give other women a second glance.
Otherwise, wouldn't she be disgusted to death?
"Come in."
The door was pushed open from outside.
Magnolia walked in slowly, a faint smile hanging on her delicate, fair face.
When her gaze fell on the figure leaning against the headboard, a flash of jealous hatred crossed her eyes.
"Sister, do you sleep in this late every day? When I was at the White Family, I never dared to get up this late!"
Sophia raised an eyebrow. "Really? I heard the entire White Family treated you like one of their own. I didn't expect you had such a hard time back then?"
Magnolia froze.
She was just trying to mock Sophia for sleeping in and having no manners. How did this get turned back on her?
She secretly gritted her teeth and forced out a shallow smile. "Sister, you're joking. I had a great time at the White Family. How could I have had a hard time? Getting up early is just my habit!"
She hadn't expected Sophia, this woman from the countryside, to be so sharp-tongued.
Before returning to the country, she hadn't taken Sophia seriously at all.
Just a girl with no class and no background.
Taking her down would be as easy as lifting a finger, right?
But facts proved she had thought too simply.
Sophia was far from as innocent as she appeared on the surface.
Sophia laughed lightly and reminded her, "Ms. Belle, Mrs. White values manners and upbringing the most. As her adopted daughter, I am your brother's wife. You should be more mindful of this. Just call me Sophia."
Brother's wife?
How could Sophia have the nerve to say that!
If she hadn't been lucky enough to marry Benjamin, someone of Sophia's status wouldn't even be worthy of carrying her shoes!
However, facing those clear, bright eyes, Magnolia felt the words stick in her throat.
After a long moment, she said through gritted teeth.
"Sophia!"
Watching Magnolia's extremely unpleasant expression, Sophia's lips curved slightly, and she immediately felt refreshed.
"Is there something you need from me, Ms. Belle?"
Reminded by her, Magnolia finally remembered why she came.
She quickly handed over the gift box in her hand.
"Sophia, this is a welcoming gift from me. I specially brought it back from abroad. It's my favorite luxury jewelry brand. I hope you'll like it."
Sophia's gaze swept lightly over the bag.
This brand's clothes weren't easy to buy.
It seemed Magnolia had spent a lot of money.
However, this brand's clothes and jewelry all leaned toward a mature, sexy style.
And Sophia's appearance was more youthful and fresh, making it hard to pull off this style.
Sophia couldn't help but sneer inwardly.
So that's what Magnolia was up to.
If she actually wore this jewelry out, she'd definitely be mocked for trying to copy someone beyond her ability.
Deliberately imitating Magnolia.
If she wore it well, she'd naturally get lots of praise.
But if she couldn't pull it off, she'd just look ridiculous.
Magnolia laughed secretly to herself and said, "Sophia, this jewelry cost me all my savings! You must accept it!"
"Okay."
Sophia reached out and took the gift.
Seeing her seemingly eager manner, the mockery in Magnolia's eyes deepened.
"This jewelry is really expensive. If you want to wear it out later, you'll need to buy some decent clothes first. Otherwise, people will laugh at you!"
Magnolia's voice was gentle, her tone full of concern, as if she were genuinely thinking of Sophia's best interests.
"Magnolia, you don't know yet? Sophia has been living in the countryside all along. She's probably used to wearing cheap stuff and can't change her habits right away."
At that moment, a mocking voice suddenly came from the doorway.
Sophia looked up to see Celestia standing at the door with her arms crossed.
Her eyes were full of mockery and disdain.
As if Sophia were some worthless trash not even worth a second glance.
Sophia glanced down at her wardrobe.
Although her clothes were simple in style, none of them were cheap.
Any random scarf she pulled out would cost more than this jewelry set.
Where did they get the confidence to think she was poor?
However, Sophia didn't plan to tell them how wealthy she was.
After all, she understood the principle of not flaunting one's wealth.
She said coldly, "What clothes I wear is none of your business. Ms. Belle, if you sincerely came to give me a gift, I naturally welcome it. But if you came to mock me, then please leave."
Magnolia bit her lip, her expression turning ugly.
She explained in a low voice, "Sophia, you really misunderstood me. I really didn't mean any harm!"
As she spoke, Magnolia's eyes instantly reddened.
Tears pooled in her eyes, looking wronged and pitiful.
Seeing her like this, Celestia couldn't help but get angry.
"Sophia, you bitch! Magnolia kindly brought you a gift, what right do you have to insult her?"
Watching Celestia's furious appearance, Sophia just found it funny.
Wasn't she the one being insulted?
"Celestia, do you need me to repeat what you just said? If you don't know how to speak properly, I don't mind teaching you." Sophia leaned lazily against the headboard, her eyes slightly narrowed.
A sharp gleam flashed in her eyes, making Celestia shudder hard.
She patted her chest nervously, thinking she had seen wrong.
How could Sophia have such a fierce look?
For a moment, Celestia almost thought the person in front of her was Benjamin.
Their eyes were too similar.
Like a beast releasing a dangerous signal.
Making people involuntarily feel a chill down their spine.
She fearfully looked away.
When she looked again, Sophia had already withdrawn her gaze.
"Don't change the subject. Magnolia is the White Family's adopted daughter. What right do you have to bully her?"
Celestia seemed to be protecting Magnolia, standing in front of her.
She snorted coldly in anger, her icy gaze wishing it could bore a hole through Sophia.
"Bully her? Is she worth it?" Sophia smiled contemptuously.
Her dismissive attitude stabbed at Magnolia's nerves.
Magnolia clenched her hands into fists, a dark gleam flashing in her eyes.
"Sophia, Celestia said the wrong thing. I apologize on her behalf. But you shouldn't talk about me like that."
"So you're admitting she was mocking me?" Sophia asked back.
Magnolia: "Well... regardless, I've already apologized to you."
"I don't accept your apology. Whoever does something wrong should take responsibility. Your apology is worthless to me."
Sophia didn't want to be aggressive, but they were really too annoying.
If she didn't fight back, they'd probably think she was easy to bully and could be pushed around at will.
Celestia clenched her fists, like a cat with its fur standing on end.
"Want me to apologize to you? Impossible!"
"Everything I said is the truth. If it weren't for you, Magnolia would have already married Benjamin! A lowly woman like you doesn't deserve to marry into the White Family!"
"Sophia, if you had even a shred of self-awareness, you'd pack your things and leave on your own!"
"Who are you telling to leave?"
A cold, bone-chilling voice suddenly rang out.
Celestia froze hard, her eyes full of shock.
"Benjamin?"
