Chapter 354 Robert Is Actually Will

Chapter 354 Robert Is Actually Will
When Laura regained consciousness, the first thing she saw was James.
Her eyes widened in disbelief.
“James?” she gasped. “We almost—what’s going on? Was this Robert’s doing?!”
James gave a bitter smile. “Most likely. I couldn’t move in the hospital, but I was awake. I heard Robert ordering his men to bring us here.”
Laura’s stomach dropped. “Then… he’s behind all of this? But why? What about him and Will?”
James cut her off with a shake of his head. “Don’t ask me. I don’t know either. But I think someone will be along soon to explain everything.”
He looked at her, concern flickering in his tired eyes. “How do you feel?”
Laura took a deep breath, trying to steady her nerves. “I’m okay. He must’ve used a standard anesthetic—it’s wearing off. There’s no one else here, right? Let’s get out of here while we can.”
James gave a weak chuckle and gestured to her legs. “Sure. If you can run.”
She blinked. Then looked down.
Only then did she realize she wasn’t just lying on a couch—her ankles were bound with colorful wires, and her legs were shackled. Though her hands were free, her lower body was completely restrained.
“What the hell is this…?” She reached out instinctively.
“Don’t touch them!” James shouted, startling her. “They’re connected to a power source. If you pull them, they’ll shock you.”
Laura froze, her hand hovering in mid-air. She let out a cold laugh. “If Robert wanted us here, he could’ve just asked. What’s the point of all this? Wires, restraints, double locks? And why aren’t you tied up?”
James sat across from her—untied, unchained, but clearly exhausted. He slumped slightly, breathing unevenly.
“Just because I’m not tied up doesn’t mean I’m better off,” he said wryly. “I don’t have the strength to stand, let alone escape. I can barely speak.”
“That… that doesn’t make sense.” Laura’s brow furrowed. “Michael’s anesthetic should’ve completely knocked you out. How are you conscious? Unless—”
James nodded weakly. “Robert must have neutralized the original dose. Whatever he gave me this time—it’s different.”
Laura glanced around the room. “Do you know where we are? What time it is? Can David or the others find us?”
James shook his head. “No idea. Honestly, I hope they don’t. What I want… is to know what the hell is going on between Robert and Will. I didn’t even know they knew each other.”
“You’ll find out soon,” a cold voice said.
Robert entered, calm and composed.
He settled onto the armchair at an angle from the two of them—close enough to speak, far enough to dominate the space. His suit was immaculate. His posture, elegant. But his eyes were sharp, ruthless… burning with hatred.
He looked at James and gave a mocking laugh.
“Surprised?” he asked. “I caught on to your little plan.”
James didn’t flinch. “I’ll admit—I didn’t expect it to be you.”
“So you knew your plan wouldn’t fool me?”
“I suspected as much.” James’s tone was steady, almost resigned. “When you had Laura lure me out, and I just happened to get into a car accident… Your first instinct must’ve been that it was a setup. But I also knew—even if you knew it was a trap, you’d still show up. That was all I needed.”
Robert’s lip curled slightly. “You’re right. Trap or not, I’d come. If the crash had been real, I’d have killed you myself. If it was fake, I’d take the opportunity to end this on my terms.”
James sighed. “Out of all the people I suspected… I never imagined it would be you.”
Robert’s expression twisted. “So all this—just to drag me out? Why? To let me kill you faster?”
“I wanted to talk,” James said, quietly. “To clear things up. I’m not afraid of revenge. But I won’t confess to something I didn’t do.”
Robert’s laugh was sharp and bitter. “Clear things up? You think I’m stupid enough to believe anything you say?”
He leaned forward, eyes blazing.
“I don’t care what you claim. I don’t want explanations. I believe only one thing—the facts.”
