Chapter 31 The accident

In the confusion, someone pushed her and she almost fell, she was held by the waist by Nicholas beside her, shielding her behind. Nicholas's sharp and dangerous eyes were staring at the reporter in front of him, and she was about to make a sound when she tugged on his sleeve.

Caroline shook her head at him, now that the news that someone had been injured at the construction site had leaked out, everyone was very concerned about how the workers were doing and how the company would handle them, as the CEO of the company, if he spoke out to warn the reporters at this time, he would immediately be caught by people with ulterior motives.

"Don't be anxious, journalists, we don't know the details yet, we will solve any problems in time."

The person in charge of the construction site rushed over with someone before the two was able to get away, "Mr. Nicholas, I didn't expect such a thing to happen either." "What the hell is going on?" Caroline didn't expect what she was worried about to actually happen, and she was filled with self-blame inside, if she had informed the person in charge in time maybe it wouldn't have happened.

The person in charge turned his gaze to Nicholas, it looked like this secretary was more valued by Mr. Nicholas than he thought, after he left Nicholas intended to take Caroline to the person in charge's office to rest.

"Mr. Nicholas, where are you going, take me with you." Seeing that the man was leaving, Eva immediately pouted in a delicate tone, her body leaning over obediently trying to squeeze Caroline out of the way.

The intolerable Caroline decided to fight back, fiercely dragged Nicholas, head leaned towards the shoulder, "Miss Eva, I am a person with a small heart, can't allow others near my man, please respect yourself." He just sat down and started looking at the worker's profile, learning about the family, and rushing over to the hospital after determining which one he was in.

By the time the worker's surgery had been completed and there were only two elderly people at the bedside, Caroline gathered himself and walked up and identified himself.

"Uncle and auntie, we will bear the money needed for the surgery and the post-operative care, plus we will compensate a sum of money for the damages to your son, and the company will also arrange for his job in the future." She had discussed these with Nicholas on the way here.

"We are sorry for the accident." He said and bent down and bowed to the two elderly people.

Although both elderly people are from the countryside, they are reasonable, Caroline and sincerity of attitude, also protect the son's work, and the doctor said that if the operation is successful it will not have much impact on the future, after discussion, they both accept the result.

When he came out of the hospital and had to rush to the press conference, he fell asleep in Nicholas's arms, unable to resist the sleepiness.

The sleeping Caroline was unusually well-behaved, rubbing herself into Nicholas's arms from time to time, her arms wrapped around his waist at some point, Nicholas liked the feeling of being relied on by her, and kept this action all the way.

At some point a light drizzle fell outside again, and all the dust settled in the rain.

After showering, Nicholas carefully got into bed and put his arm around the sleeping girl, "Good girl, good night."

She woke up in the morning to a noisy alarm. She rolled over to turn it off and tried to go back to sleep but felt her body suddenly become heavier, something was weighing her down and she opened her hazy eyes to find a pair of smiling eyes staring at her.

The two arms of Nicholas were propped up at her sides for fear of crushing her, but she didn't expect the reflex to raise her feet and stomp on them, but Nicholas reacted quickly and held them, "Caroline wants to murder her husband." The hand slowly traced down the calf to the root of the thigh, seeing that the restless hand was going to probe further in.

"Rascal, you let go of me." She shrank back further Nicholas also let go with the force and sat up straight, he said he wouldn't force her, but he still had to take advantage of the love.

Caroline also lost her sleep and got up from the bed to pull the curtains open, it was a rare sunny day, "How did things go yesterday?"

"It's all taken care of, I've asked James to hold the press conference." Knowing that she was worried about this, Nicholas had already prepared his computer and replayed the press conference for her to watch.

She got up and changed her clothes and went to the office with Nicholas, intending to go and see the worker sometimes.

The time was not available but Avery took the initiative to approach her, "Caroline, this week is my birthday, I booked a restaurant, can you come back for dinner? Anyway I am still your mother, I still hope you can come."

Avery deliberately lowered her stance and her tone carried some caution, knowing that she would refuse to come up with the words in advance, she expected that with Caroline's character, she would definitely come, and after she finished she quietly waited for Caroline to agree.
