Chapter 28 Nervous

“I'm sorry, if I really want to eat, even if I have to break an arm, I believe Nicholas will feed me mouthful by mouthful. If you don't believe it, you can ask him. I believe the man I love won't be so heartless."

Caroline really couldn't understand why there were always people who wanted to interfere in their lives and make them extremely annoying. But for a white lotus like Eva, there was no need to be kind.

"If you don't mind sharing good fortune and hardship with me, then I don't mind teaching you what it means. I trust my man and myself too. Ms. Eva has anything else to say?"

Looking at Caroline's current appearance, Nicholas was speechless and laughed when he heard the phrase "my man". At the same time, his impression of Eva became worse and worse.

"If this meal can't be eaten well, we don't mind leaving first with Nicholas. What do you think about that Mr.David? Also, I hope Mr.David can manage his daughter well. You certainly wouldn’t want your daughter interfering in other people's relationships right? Although Nicholas and I are not married yet our feelings for each other are strong just like how much faith I have in myself."

James was confused; he never knew Caroline could be so domineering before - is this considered as potential being stimulated? For Caroline herself though maybe because she knows her mother’s situation which made her become so aggressive now.

"Okay let's not get angry anymore. If you don’t feel like eating here we'll leave instead. I'll cook something delicious for us when we get home. As for those whom we do not wish to see, I promise they will never appear again in front of us. Do trust me, hmm?"

Nicholas's "trust me" made Caroline instantly calmer. She didn't know when this man had become so important in her heart, which also surprised her greatly.

"Nicholas, I'm not angry. I will finish this meal well. While I trust you, you must also trust me. I will become stronger and make those who look down on me receive the punishment they deserve."

Caroline's words were directed at Nicholas but were heard by everyone present, but more importantly, it was said for herself to hear.

If I had been a little braver at the beginning, I wouldn't have been pushed down the stairs by Stella. If I had been a little braver at the beginning, I wouldn't have carried the burden of being accused of murder. If I had been braver at the beginning, my family wouldn't treat me differently.

I don't know why, but Caroline blames everything on herself. She stubbornly believes that all of this is caused by her own cowardice and even hates herself now.

"Be good, you will definitely become strong. I believe in you and you should believe in yourself too, right? As long as Nicholas stands by your side, no one will dare to hurt you. Don't worry."

At that moment, David finally regained his senses. He knew very well that his daughter would never have a chance again; even if she was outstanding in every way possible, she could not stand beside Nicholas for her entire life.

With obstacles like Caroline who only wanted money out of their lives completely defeated and his daughter losing completely - even all women lost to him - it was simple: because in Nicholas's eyes and heart, there was only Caroline alone; there would be no one else.

Although Eva was unwilling to accept what happened before her eyes, she could do nothing about it either. For such an unreasonable woman like Caroline who made trouble out of nothing, instead of getting angry with her actions towards him or anything else he patiently coaxed her which might just be how men love women most.

"Dad let's go; things are resolved now so we don’t need to stay here anymore but there is something I must say: "Caroline, I envy you for having everything any woman wants- a man and love."

Caroline didn’t understand why Eva said this but she could see that the man in front of her had given her everything, even every grain of rice was the best.

Watching David and Eva leave, James finally breathed a sigh of relief and left for his company leaving two people behind who didn't know what to do.

"Um, did I cause trouble today? Have you finished your work? Mr. David has already left; what should we do?

After venting her anger, Caroline finally realized the problem. She had been playing games with full concentration and hadn't thought much about how far the collaboration between those two people had gone.

"Now you remember me? When you were venting just now, why didn't you think of me? You're such a silly girl. If we don't finish our work, how can I let James serve the dishes? Besides, there are so many people in this city waiting to collaborate with me. It's my choice to pick them. Don't worry, fool."

Yes, because she was in a hurry, Caroline forgot the true identity of the man in front of her. Although she disliked Eva, what she said was correct.

In this city, too many people want to climb into Nicholas's bed at any cost. If she doesn't work hard enough, one day she may not deserve to be by his side.

Thinking of this made Caroline a little nervous but more determined to win. She believed in herself and also believed that Nicholas would handle everything well.

Looking at her firm face and clenched fists made Nicholas unable to help but smile and say: "What are you thinking about? So focused."

Startled by his suddenly speaking up like that, Caroline turned her head and glared at him for no reason. Nicholas wasn’t angry either. He reached out and hugged her. When he saw that Caroline wanted to break free from his arms again, Nicholas tightened his embrace around her even more tightly.

"These dishes are all cold. I'll have James take them away and bring some hot ones." Nicholas was about to raise his hand when he was stopped by Caroline.

"Why? We haven't eaten these yet. Don't waste food."After saying that, Caroline picked up a piece of delicious-looking braised pork and stuffed it into her mouth, eating while urging him to eat too.

Caroline's chubby cheeks looked more and more like a little squirrel as she ate. Nicholas suddenly leaned forward and stole a bite of the steamed bun, as if he was stealing from Caroline herself.

After finishing the meal, Caroline felt both satisfied and exhausted. Nicholas acted like an immature child who insisted on feeding her. If she didn't eat, he would use what she said to Eva earlier to tease her.

She never thought that the man rumored outside would be so childish. But she felt that her heart was gradually opening up to him. She was happy but also afraid of being hurt.

The next day when she woke up, Caroline found that Nicholas had already gone to work. Looking at the time, she realized that she was almost late for work. The breakfast had been placed on the table in haste.
