Chapter 20 Misunderstanding

"Come in."

Nicholas didn't expect to meet Stella in the company. He frowned imperceptibly until he realized that Stella was the same person who had deliberately accused Caroline at the banquet last time. He then remembered that he had met this woman at the Collins house before.

"Mr. Nicholas, this is the chicken soup I stewed..." Stella saw Nicholas staring at her and smiled coyly. She walked to Nicholas's desk and placed the chicken soup on it.

"Where's Caroline?" Nicholas frowned. He remembered that this woman had accused Caroline several times before, and Caroline's imprisonment was also somewhat related to her. Her intentions were so obvious that Caroline would not let her in.

"My sister went to help me get something. Mr. Nicholas, please try the soup I stewed myself. You'll definitely like it." Stella pretended to be unaware and bent over, exposing more of her chest.

Nicholas frowned and looked towards the door. He didn't see Caroline and was about to go out to see, but he was grabbed by Stella's arm when he stood up.

"Let go." Nicholas rebuked sternly.

Although Stella was a little scared, she saw the indifference and impatience in Nicholas's eyes. She made up her mind and leaned on Nicholas.

"Get out." Nicholas disgustedly pushed Stella away, patted his sleeve, and glanced at the chicken soup Stella had placed on his desk. He walked over slowly, picked it up, and poured it into the trash can.

Stella's eyes lit up again, but she soon saw Nicholas walking coldly towards the trash can and dumping the soup.

"Mr. Nicholas..." Stella didn't give up and stuck to him, tears about to fall. Every time she did something wrong at home, her mother would feel sorry for her. It was the same with John, so she thought this trick would work on Nicholas too.

"Get lost!" Nicholas pushed Stella to the ground and accidentally bumped into a nearby table. The vase on top fell to the ground with a clear and piercing sound.

The high-level executive standing at the door was intimidated by Nicholas's aura and dared not speak, just standing in place in amazement, watching what was happening in front of him.

When Nicholas looked up, he saw Caroline standing unaffected in the crowd, with a calm expression. Nicholas's heart ached a bit, as she seemed to be indifferent to her sister's blatant attempts to seduce him.

"Security, drag her out and never let her into Johnson's company again!" Nicholas's anger surged, and it was only then that the other high-level executives reacted and quickly went to inform the security.

"It's all your fault! You took my place, and I was supposed to be standing here! I was supposed to be the one marrying him, not you! You took everything away from me!" Stella's eyes turned red as she saw Caroline, ignoring the redness and swelling on her leg, pointing at her and cursing.

"You should know better than anyone else how things have developed to this point," Caroline slowly walked to Nicholas's side in her high heels.

In fact, Caroline had a moment of uneasiness and bitterness in her heart when she saw Stella, but she also wanted to know what Nicholas would do. Caroline did not think much about that moment of feeling, blaming it on Stella's words.

She needed to be independent now, and did not want to depend on anyone, letting anyone into her heart and finding a chance to hurt her.

"It's all your fault! Give it all back to me! Ah...let go of me! Don't touch me!" Stella shouted, and the security rushed in and dragged her out while she was still throwing a tantrum.

"Report delayed," Nicholas coldly glanced at them before slowly saying four words.

The group dispersed, and the office finally returned to its usual calm. Caroline stood by Nicholas's side, not knowing whether to stay or go. She wanted to say something, but only sighed when she opened her mouth.

"I'm sorry, I let her in." Caroline hesitated for a moment before apologizing.

"Darling, it's never been about that which makes me upset. You really..." Nicholas lifted his hand and embraced Caroline, his heart still aching in waves.

"Never mind, you'll understand later." Nicholas sighed, he still needed time to slowly enter her heart, and he had been investigating what exactly happened to Caroline. The relationship between the two that had finally warmed up a while ago seemed to have returned to its previous state.

Feeling the change in Nicholas's emotions, Caroline slowly raised her hand and responded to his embrace, placing her hands on his back.

This was already the second person that had been thrown out of the Johnson family by the security guards since Caroline arrived, which had never happened before, and this time it was her own sister who was thrown out. The front desk staff didn't react for a moment.

"Mr. Garcia is looking for you to discuss business later, Mr. Nicholas." James reported to him with the CEO's schedule in his hand.

"I know, get him ready to come up." Nicholas adjusted his tie and said.

The office that was a mess just now had already been cleaned up by the cleaning staff, as if nothing had happened.

"Mr. Garcia?" Caroline frowned, a bad feeling slowly rising in her heart. When it came to the surname Garcia, the first person she thought of was John. It seemed that she hadn't seen him since that day at the restaurant.

"Yes, Mr. John." James looked at Caroline's puzzled expression and continued speaking. Even James was not sure why Nicholas had agreed to meet with John, after all, he had asked James to investigate him not long ago.

"Then you can talk to him, I'll go out for a while. I don't want to be around him for now." Caroline straightforwardly expressed her thoughts to Nicholas.

Nicholas had been observing Caroline's expression all along. Except for the surprise she showed when James mentioned John earlier, she had remained calm and emotionless. He investigated and found out that John was Caroline's ex-boyfriend and had fallen in love with Stella. It wasn't difficult for Nicholas to find out about these things, and seeing John's attitude towards Caroline at the restaurant last time had made him very uneasy.
