Chapter 4
Panic welled up in her chest as she looked at the table she had set with so much care.
Was it a date if two people who regularly fucked sat down and ate a meal together? Dates were against the rules. But it didn’t matter anyway when she knew the conversation she intended to have was definitely breaking the rules.
“No, not a date,” she answered. “It’s my dinner time. Since you said you were coming at six, I just... Never mind.”
“You know the rules, Evelyn.”
The disappointment in his voice squeezed her chest. Yes, she knew all the fucking rules.
“If you’re not pregnant, and I’m not here to fuck you, then what else is there to talk about.”
Her shoulders sagged. Nothing. There was nothing to talk about. Sex was clearly just sex for him if he couldn’t fathom talking to her about anything else.
“Nothing, I guess,” she answered.
“I have work to do, Evelyn, and you’re saying you called me over for nothing?”
She dared to look back at him and saw the anger in his blue eyes. Why would anyone be so angry when all she had done was cook him a meal?
“I’m sorry I wasted your time,” she murmured.
“This life you’re living doesn’t come cheap. I can’t stop working on your whims, Evelyn. This isn’t a relationship; I shouldn’t have to remind you of the rules.”
Roman had always been an intimidating man. He was cold and ruthless, according to some of the things she had read about him. But with her, he’d always seemed different. Though she was essentially his whore, she hadn’t felt like one until recently because he had never treated her like one.
Now she felt very much like a whore.
She had been stupid to think she could talk to him about their future when he saw her as nothing more than a bed warmer. Property he owned that he could discard at any time. The cracks in her heart widened.
She was numb when she looked away from him.
“I apologise,” she said again. “I’ll see you out and then have my dinner before it gets cold.”
She made to walk past him when he grabbed her arm to stop her.
“I’m here now, Evelyn. Maybe do the job I’m paying you to do before I go back home.”
She didn’t look up at him as he spoke. The lyrics to an old song played back in her head. ‘Once a whore you’re nothing more...’ It was true. She would always be a whore to him. If he ever got a girlfriend or a wife, it would never be her or someone like her.
“Okay,” she murmured.
She made to leave the room but he pulled her back.
“In here,” he said.
Roman pulled her over to the other side of the big dining table and then pulled a chair out of the way before he bent her over on it. In front of her, the candles still flickered, mocking her with the stupid idea that she had had. Her dress was lifted above her waist, and then she felt the breeze as her knickers were lowered.
Whore.
She squeezed her eyes shut when she felt his hands caressing her, moulding and squeezing her cheeks.
“Exquisite,” he said quietly.
He spoke more to her body parts than he did to her. That should have been a sign.
When his fingers gently rubbed against her, she felt her body responding without her consent. It always responded, no matter what he did or how she felt. Her eyes were still closed when he slipped a long finger in and curled it inside her so it dragged against her walls when he pulled it out. He repeated the motion several times before he added another finger.
She whimpered as she pushed herself back against him.
“Grab onto the sides of the table,” he commanded.
She did as she was told even as her mind screamed at her for what she was doing. Then Roman used his foot to open her legs wider.
“You’re always so wet, Evelyn,” Ramon said, his voice deeper as it always became when he was caught up in this. “So fucking wet...”
And when he removed his fingers, she knew he was tasting her. He always did. She had never met anyone so addicted to eating her out as this man was. And she was right. His magic tongue replaced the fingers and she was lost.
Just like that.
She swore as the wave carried her over but his tongue continued working. Lapping everything up, sucking, nibbling, probing. She didn’t know where he had learned to do this, but fuck... Probably the best she would ever have. She didn’t realise she had started rocking her hips, and that she was putting pressure on her pebbled tits against the table until his hands grabbed onto her hips and stopped her.
“Move when I tell you to, Evelyn.”
Her muscles tensed as she felt herself start to fall again, but before she could, Roman stopped. She knew better than to complain. There was the sound of his zipper and the rustling of a foil packet and almost immediately she was filled to the brim.
He didn’t start slow, he gave it to her hard and fast as if he could read her mind. He always knew how she wanted it. The cutlery clinked together as the table shook. The empty wine glasses fell over. The flowers vibrated with every powerful thrust. And then all too soon it was over. She tumbled and tumbled. And kept on tumbling as Roman pressed into her and spilt his seed.
She was still lying over the table trying to catch her breath when she heard the sound of his zipper again.
“I’ll see you on Friday,” Roman said from behind her.
And then he walked out without another word. She was still in the same spot when she heard the front door open and close. Still there when she heard his car start and then drive away.
Still there even when she smelled that her food had started to burn.
Minutes. He’d shown her he owned her in minutes. And her own body had betrayed her because it was true, he did own her.
She didn’t know when she started crying but the tablecloth was soaked when she finally lifted herself from the table. She was still crying when she pulled her knickers back up and made her way to the kitchen to switch all the appliances off.
She couldn’t do this anymore. It was too painful. She had already broken his biggest rule and fallen in love with him but he would never love her back.
She had to leave.
