I adjusted my suit and gently made my way up to the stage while applause was so loud it filled the air. A man came up and adjusted the microphone, I cleared my throat and took a hold of the microphone finally standing under the spotlight and wallowing in what I’ve been working hard for for the longest time now, finally the time had come.

I darted my eyes around the room and noticed the familiar faces in the crowd including Isadora and Langford and dumbass Oliver. I cleared my throat and then I started, “Good day everyone, I’m glad to announce that I’m standing here as the newly appointed chief executive officer of all business affairs being handled in the state, it is my pleasure and of course an honor to my person.”

I shot a smile at the crowd and they all applauded once more. I begin by expressing my deepest gratitude to the board of directors for seeing me as someone who is capable of carrying the duties and responsibilities that come with this role.

Their vision and confidence is more than I can fully express. To the entire team,” I featured. “thank you especially my beautiful, trusting and loyal assistant, Sloane.” I turned to her and shot a smile at her and watched as her face grew flushed as everyone else turned to her.

I turned to Isadora who had a look of disgust on her face and in a second murmurs filled the air. I cleared my throat once more before continuing, "Not just her but the rest of the employees too have been a backbone to the organization and in one way or another have contributed to this great win.

The volume of the music playing in the background increased and murmurs filled the air.

“Your speech was perfect sir.” Sloane said to me without looking me in the face.

“That’s courtesy of you, Sloane.” I smirked at her. She looked up at me, “Thank you sir … for the compliment.” She cleared her throat.

“So what next now?” I asked starting around when Isadora walked right passed me, “”err what’s next is —“

“When do they leave?” I interrupted Sloane.She turned away from her iPad, “Who?” She looked around.

“Kade and the rest of his family. Don’t they have a wedding to prepare for or something?”

“Sir, you asked me to invite them so that’s why they’re here honoring your invitation. The bunch of paparazzi people outside are waiting for them to step out so they would confirm if they were actually in attendance and ask questions, questions like how Kade feels after his position was given to you—“

“Okay fine. I get it now.”

“Sir, it’s time for you to exchange pleasantries with the guests. Some of them have already started leaving so …”

“Private? S- sir.” She stuttered. I stepped closed to her and grabbed her waist, gently pulling her closer to me, she immediately looked down at my hand, “S-sir.” She stuttered.

“I know what you’re about to say,” I looked down at her, “You’re literally about to tell me how bad this is and all that, Sloane…” I lowered to her ear level and whispered to her, “Sloane, just one night, I’m tired of being so official and serious and work-y”

“Sir I— I don’t understand what you’re asking me.” She scrolled through her pad, “It doesn’t say that anywhere around your itinerary."

I gently pulled her iPad away and tossed it on the table of food, I pulled her way closer to me, having her boobs pressed against my chest, “Sir…” she resisted and whisper shouted at me, “There are people watching!”

“That’s the reason why I’m seeking a private room, Slone just one night without all this drama, don’t you think it’ll help us —“
