Chapter 70
Elizabeth's POV
As soon as I finished speaking, Cleo's face lit up with obvious delight, but she quickly looked away when our eyes met.
As if afraid I'd notice something, she lifted her head proudly, "I'm warning you, don't get too cocky. I never said I'd definitely let you come back."
Watching her act like she was so important, I felt physically sick.
So even now, they still thought my goal was Aiden?
Couldn't they just open their eyes and look properly? Which eye of theirs saw that she still cared about Aiden?
The commotion from the inner courtyard kept coming. I was eager to watch the show and didn't want to waste time with them, so I cut them off, "Can we not talk about this right now? Your family's about to have someone die, and you're still going on about this with me?"
My attitude stunned them both. For a moment, they couldn't find any words to argue back, so they could only let me through.
As soon as I reached the inner courtyard, I saw Aiden and Bianca surrounded in the middle.
Bianca, who had failed at hanging herself, had tears all over her face, leaning on Aiden - her usual trick.
Aiden had the same heartbroken expression as before, comforting her.
"Alright, let's not talk about these things. Bianca, I just want you to be okay."
Hearing this, I couldn't help but laugh.
That laugh broke the silence in the air, and everyone turned to look in my direction.
The first to look confused were the Smith family's maids, who used to follow Cleo's orders.
Plus, with Aiden ignoring me, they naturally didn't treat me well.
Now that I suddenly appeared, they were the most puzzled.
Aiden seemed to just realize I was still there. Thinking of what was said at the coffee shop, he asked me, "So what exactly is going on?"
Just as I was about to speak, Bianca suddenly started coughing, her whole face full of pain.
Aiden's attention was drawn away again, shouting with concern.
"Aiden, I feel terrible. Can you take me to the hospital? It's all my fault. I'll never make you worry again."
Bianca's tears fell, her whole body trembling with fear.
"Aiden, don't you want to continue our earlier conversation? Don't you have any other curiosity about Bianca?"
When I brought this up, Bianca seemed to completely tear off her mask, shouting at me, "Aiden doesn't want you anymore! Why are you still here, bothering him?"
"Bothering?" I laughed out loud, walking closer to her, looking her up and down with examining eyes.
Then I said, "Bianca, I think you have a guilty conscience. Is there some secret you don't want him to know?"
In the eye contact that only the two of us could understand, I saw intense fear.
Bianca was indeed scared. She was worried I would expose everything.
I laughed directly and said, "You don't look that seriously ill to me. If that's the case, then let's all three talk together."
"No!" Bianca almost screamed, glaring at me hard, "Stop putting on an act here. I don't want to see you. Get out of here!"
Bianca got so worked up that she completely forgot Aiden was right beside her at that moment.
Seeing her expression, Aiden, who had been holding her, suddenly let go.
"Why would you say something like that?"
Watching Aiden's shocked expression, I just felt satisfied inside.
All along, Bianca had been pretending in front of Aiden.
Even though she hated me to the bone, she could maintain a calm surface, so Aiden always thought she was the kindest person.
Now, because she was afraid I'd expose the secrets in her heart, she became hysterical - a side of her Aiden had never seen.
I saw that Bianca finally realized this too, her whole face turning pale.
"It's not like that." She shook her head, denying herself, then cried out, "Aiden, I'm just too scared. I'm worried you'll be taken away by her. Don't leave me, okay?"
Aiden still looked like he hadn't recovered from the shock. He stared at Bianca intently, observing her expression.
"Bianca, you're not at all the fragile person I remember. Are you afraid of something?"
Seeing this scene, I didn't say anything.
Aiden was indeed slow in some ways, but he could still read the situation.
There wasn't a trace of illness about Bianca, let alone looking like someone with a terminal disease.
Plus, with her constant dramatics, it would only deepen others' suspicions.
Now, with Alexander backing me up, Aiden didn't dare do anything to me.
"Aiden, are you really going to listen to her? In your heart, who do you actually love?"
Bianca's eyes were red, gasping for breath, with a hint of desperate threat, "Fine, if you don't believe me, I'll leave. From today on, we have nothing to do with each other."
Aiden was stunned again, instinctively grabbing Bianca's hand, saying, "Don't go..."
Hearing that softened voice, Bianca knew she'd bet right, and said, "I don't want to argue about these things with you. From beginning to end, I only know I love you. I haven't done anything wrong, but if you don't believe me and believe her instead, I'm leaving."
Hearing these words, I couldn't help but want to applaud her.
No wonder Bianca could keep Aiden firmly in her grasp - she really had skills!
"Don't go."
Aiden turned back to face me, waving his hand at me, "You leave now. I don't want to hear any more of that stuff from you."
Seeing him like this, I raised an eyebrow without speaking.
This was new - I came with secrets to tell him, and Aiden was so soft-hearted he didn't want to know anything.
But hadn't he thought about it?
"Aiden, I never wanted to continue anything with you. I just think some things need to be made public."
"After all, you're the one who wants me dead."
I couldn't wait any longer. Coming here today, I had to make everything clear. At the very least, starting today, I needed to remove the threat to my life.
As long as I revealed that Bianca didn't need my life to survive, even if Aiden kept bothering me, at least my life wouldn't be in danger.
"Shut up!" Bianca got more and more worked up, rushing straight at me.
I looked at her twisted face and didn't think about dodging at all.
The bodyguards Alexander gave me were outside. As long as I sent a signal on my phone, they'd rush right in.
Bianca looked truly crazy, but if she actually hurt me, it would only provoke Aiden.
It would make her disguise fall away bit by bit.
Just based on this, I was confident enough that she wouldn't really dare do anything to me.
Sure enough, I just stood there straight, and her raised hand ultimately froze in mid-air.
