Chapter 57
Elizabeth's POV
A painful cry rang out beside me. I couldn't help but flinch and look over.
Those two muscular bodyguards were both lying on the ground, and the person who had taken them down in an instant was Alexander!
I involuntarily shivered. When I looked at him, he just casually dusted off his hands as if nothing had happened.
"You dare lay hands on my men?" Jasper couldn't stay calm. His hand, pointing at Alexander, was trembling, clearly shaken because he hadn't seen Alexander's moves clearly and now felt wary.
I was also startled, never having imagined Alexander's fighting skills were this good.
But then again, when I first met Alexander, he was almost pushed to the edge.
Someone who could survive that kind of situation must have some real abilities, right?
My gaze toward Alexander became complicated, and an indescribable feeling welled up inside me.
Even Alexander, with all his power and money, couldn't have everything go his way, could he?
"I told you, she's not someone you can touch." Alexander's voice remained calm, yet it sounded like some kind of warning.
The remaining bodyguards standing behind Jasper all showed wary looks in their eyes, not daring to approach us easily.
Alexander alone was holding back all this pressure.
In the silence, I spoke up softly, "Mr. Garcia, we mean no harm. We genuinely want to work with you."
The atmosphere remained tense. I was trying to give him a way out.
Jasper's eyes weren't as fierce as before. He smiled at me, "So you still want my investment, right?"
"Of course, that's why we came here—to reach a cooperation with you."
Jasper crossed his legs. "So my request is simple. Spend one night with me, and the deal is yours."
The words had changed completely from what he'd been saying before.
I sneaked a glance at Alexander and saw his expression was even colder than before.
"Mr. Garcia, let me first introduce the person beside me. His last name is Windsor."
As soon as I finished speaking, the entire room fell deathly silent.
Jasper's mouth hung open, looking like he couldn't process what he'd heard, staring blankly at us.
After a long while, he finally stammered, "Windsor... the last name Windsor?"
Anyone doing business here would know exactly which family that name belonged to.
Definitely not someone he could afford to offend.
Jasper slowly uncrossed his legs. He nervously swallowed, his face full of terror.
"I... I didn't know about this, Mr. Windsor. I didn't know this lady had that kind of relationship with you. I've offended you."
His attitude completely reversed. Without me needing to say anything more, Jasper came over, bowing and scraping.
"Working with The Windsor Family is clearly my honor. I should be the one trying to win your cooperation. This is all my fault. Please forgive me."
Alexander's face showed no emotional change. Even I couldn't read him.
Jasper couldn't figure out what he was thinking either, and all his emotions showed on his face.
Seeing his words get no response, he turned to look at me and bowed deeply, expressing his apologies, "Ms. Spencer, I've offended you. Could you please talk to Mr. Windsor and ask him not to be angry with me?"
The person who had been ordering me around just moments ago was now as humble as a dog. I only felt it was ironic.
So realistic—everyone would become this humble because of Alexander's status and position.
Being by Alexander's side, I would receive respect I'd never had before.
Jasper in front of me was like this, and so was Aiden.
If I weren't staying by Alexander's side now, Aiden would have definitely sent people to forcibly take me away already.
"Mr. Windsor, Mr. Garcia's attitude seems sincere. Why don't we forgive him?" I said to Alexander.
He finally seemed to respond, looking at me with complete focus.
His voice was soft but carried an undeniable sense of power.
"Do you want to forgive him?" He asked seriously, as if he would decide entirely based on what I thought.
My purpose in coming here was to steal Aiden's cooperation deal. With Alexander asking me like this, of course, I would only nod.
"I want the cooperation."
Jasper's gaze turned back to me, but without that offensive look from before.
He was also observing.
He spoke at the right moment, "Ms. Spencer, as long as you agree to the cooperation, I'm certainly willing!"
I gave him a dry laugh and looked back at Alexander, "Let's cooperate. I want to reach this cooperation."
All eyes in the room were now on me, conveying one message, I was important to Alexander, and whether to cooperate or not depended entirely on what I thought.
Sensing this subtle atmosphere, I couldn't help but grip Alexander's hand tightly.
The moment our skin touched, I felt Alexander tremble slightly.
Immediately after, he nodded.
Jasper seemed to breathe a sigh of relief, looking at me and saying, "Ms. Spencer, please let me apologize to you once more. This is all my fault. Please don't hold it against me."
"No need to keep saying these things. After all, you didn't actually touch me."
Although Alexander had stopped him several times, I indeed hadn't been hurt.
Jasper looked at Alexander with relief, carefully asking, "Mr. Windsor, when should we sign the contract?"
Alexander stood up and gestured toward me, "Leave the cooperation matters to her. Work with her."
Jasper looked somewhat surprised and couldn't help but speak, "But our cooperation involves a significant amount. Is it really okay to just leave it to Ms. Spencer..."
His words trailed off at the end. I could understand what he was implying.
He was basically saying that for such a big project, leaving it to me might not be reliable.
Having my abilities questioned, I felt inexplicably annoyed and secretly clenched my fists.
"Mr. Garcia, please rest assured about the cooperation. Don't let my appearance fool you—my sharpness is no less than you men."
My words unconsciously carried some edge. Jasper was stunned for a moment, then nodded half-believingly, "I was inconsiderate. Of course, someone by Mr. Windsor's side would be capable."
"Mr. Windsor, does this arrangement work for you?" After speaking to me, Jasper bowed and scraped to Alexander again.
The cold aura around Alexander finally dissipated somewhat. He looked less icy now.
He responded and extended his arm toward me.
I consciously took it.
"The party isn't over yet. Want to walk around?" Alexander said to me, lowering his head.
Just what I wanted!
Aiden had come with Bianca. After being kicked out, he was definitely still at the party, probably waiting for another chance to pursue the cooperation.
Before things were completely settled, I felt uneasy. I had to see Aiden's complete failure with my own eyes to feel at peace.
