Chapter 104

Chapter 104

Elizabeth's POV

I felt entirely trapped by Aiden. Though he had handed over the phone, my calls and messages to Alexander went unanswered.

Desperation gnawed at me as I scoured online gossip, hoping to glean any insight into Alexander's whereabouts.

Yet, nothing beyond the initial news had surfaced—no updates, no follow-ups.

A disturbing intuition unfurled within me, an eerie suspicion that although Aiden had given me the phone, the information I accessed was severely limited, as if someone had curated what I could see.

I looked at Aiden, who was busy cooking outside, and this strange thought grew stronger, so I dialed his number directly.

I hid in the corridor and watched him secretly, confirming that the call had gone through, but Aiden's phone showed no response at all.

Sure enough, the call simply wouldn't go through!

Staring at the bizarre result in front of me, I couldn't help but gape.

Just as I thought! Aiden had deliberately handed me this phone, fully certain that I would never be able to get any information from it!

He wasn't worried that I would contact Alexander—he had completely cut off that possibility! All while making me lower my guard as much as possible.

No wonder Aiden had acted so unnervingly calm, as if he didn't care at all.

After reaching this conclusion, the strange feeling in my heart grew stronger and stronger.

Just then, Aiden appeared in front of me at some point, smiling at me, "It'll be ready soon. Are you hungry?"

I almost dropped my phone. I quickly stood up straight, looked him straight in the eyes, and went on, "You haven't answered my previous question. Dare you let me see your chat records with Bianca?"

Ever since I confronted him bluntly last time, Aiden had acted as if he were playing dead, resolutely ignoring all of this.

He looked at me, but the very next second, he looked away.

"Elizabeth," he sighed, "Trust is the cornerstone of any relationship. Your doubt hurts me."

I stood firm, undeterred. "Then show me your phone. Prove there's nothing to hide."

The call I just made to him didn't go through, which meant my phone was most likely tampered with.

Aiden's phone should be working fine. If I could find a way to get his phone and then contacted Alexander with it, I might be rescued directly.

When I just realized it was the phone's problem, I also felt a subtle sense of joy.

It's the phone's issue, which meant Alexander probably tried to contact me too; I just didn't receive his calls.

"Elizabeth," Aiden coaxed gently, "Let's eat first. I don't want you to be hungry. It pains me to see you upset."

I turned away, my voice steely. "No. Not until you show me your phone."

I stretched out my hand toward him and spoke to him firmly.

Even when we were together in the past, I had rarely made demands of him like this.

I was even a little unused to it myself.

His expression hardened, and he pushed my outstretched hand back. "Elizabeth, don't take advantage of my love for you. I don't like this side of you."

Hearing him say such things, the corners of my mouth couldn't help twitching.

"Aiden, if you can't even do this little thing, how can you talk about loving me? I think you're just bragging—you don't care about me at all, do you?"

I said whatever came to mind; I didn't want to argue with him too much.

But if he couldn't give me an answer, I was thinking of sneaking into his room to steal his phone tonight.

I had to get in touch with the outside world; I absolutely couldn't be trapped in this place.

I made up my mind secretly, snorted coldly, and walked to the dining room.

Aiden had cooked dinner himself, and he looked completely different from usual. So I decided to take this chance to enjoy myself.

After all, he had never waited on me like this before.

"Elizabeth, you only need to know that I love you. How could I ever let you get hurt?"

"I don't want to hear this from you," I took a bite of food, making no effort to hide my bad temper.

Yet even after all that, he actually listened to me. Not only did he not argue back, but he even looked as if he enjoyed it.

The corners of my mouth twitched uncontrollably, and I cursed him furiously in my heart.

This kind of Aiden made me feel even more disgusted.

After dinner, I went to wash up early, listening closely to every sound outside.

As soon as I heard the sound of running water coming from the bathroom, I tiptoed toward Aiden's bedroom.

If he was taking a shower, it was the perfect time to strike. If I could find his phone and send a distress message at this moment, I might be rescued soon.

After slipping into Aiden's room, I glanced toward the bathroom and hurried inside.

It wasn't on the desk, nor by the bed.

I searched the entire bedroom quickly, but found nothing.

I looked toward the bathroom again, my heart sinking little by little.

Could Aiden have taken it into the bathroom with him? That was why I couldn't find it.

Just then, the bathroom door opened without warning, and Aiden, wrapped in a bath towel, looked over at me.

The water was still running, but Aiden appeared suddenly as if he had been waiting for me, staring straight into my eyes, his face almost expressionless.

I was startled, but quickly forced myself to stay calm. Watching his face darken more and more, I gradually understood.

He did this on purpose. He must have known I would come looking for his phone, so he took it inside with him, just to expose me on the spot.

"Aiden, I just want to know what your relationship with Bianca really is right now. If you don't tell me, this isn't over."

I struck first, my hands clenched so tightly they were sweating.

Luckily, this was the excuse I had prepared earlier; otherwise, I might have exposed my real intention.

Aiden turned off the water, then slowly walked toward me.

As the distance closed, I instinctively stepped back, but my hand was suddenly seized.

Aiden's face loomed large in front of me, and his voice drifted over slowly: "Elizabeth, coming here late at night... can I take that as an invitation?"

A dangerous aura closed in on me. I shoved him away violently, instinctively protecting my lower abdomen, and glared at him fiercely.

"Are you crazy? I'm pregnant!"

Was Aiden planning to do something terrible to me at this moment? Only then did I suddenly realize the danger I was in.
