Chapter 200

Chapter 200

Nathaniel felt the same way. At his age, having been through several relationships, love wasn't that important anymore.

A thirty-year-old man valued a suitable family background.

He'd already experienced impulse and passion in his youth; there was nothing new about it anymore.

So initially, Grace's parents decided to have Lyric give birth to the child, then give Lyric some compensation.

But when they actually met Lyric, they just couldn't bring themselves to say it.

Grace's parents kept passing the responsibility back and forth, and finally wanted Grace to say it.

Lyric's young face looked almost like a minor's. Making Lyric give birth was one thing, but then separating her from her own child, and paying her money to humiliate her on top of that?

If they couldn't say it, how could she?

So she just said directly, "Lyric, why don't you marry my brother and give your baby a complete family?"

Though things didn't go as planned, at least both sets of parents didn't seem too opposed.

The Lawson family really couldn't bear to treat Lyric that way.

"So, do you think Nathaniel can convince Lyric to come back?" Layla asked.

"I think it'll be pretty hard? I mean, I tried for days and couldn't get her to come back, how could he possibly..."

Before Grace could finish, she heard sounds outside the window.

"Layla, wait a second..." She got off the bed with her phone and walked to the window to look out.

She was immediately stunned that Nathaniel had actually brought Lyric back.

And Lyric and Nathaniel looked pretty close?

Lyric looked thin and delicate, so even at just four months, her belly was already quite noticeable; anyone could tell she was pregnant.

Her features and age made her look really young.

So Lyric was wearing a white dress with a pullover sweater, her long hair braided, making her look even more childlike.

Seeing this, Grace couldn't help but mentally label Nathaniel a bastard.

"Nathaniel?"

Hearing her voice, Nathaniel looked up.

But Nathaniel had already taken Lyric's hand and entered the villa.

Layla on the other end of the phone obviously heard too and asked. "Nathaniel's back?"

"He's back, and he brought Lyric with him! They're holding hands!" As she was speaking, someone knocked on her door.

"Ms. Lawson, Mrs. Lawson wants you downstairs."

"Got it." Grace headed for the door, saying into the phone, "I gotta go, my mom's calling me down, probably about my brother."

"Okay, bye."

"Bye."

When Grace came downstairs, she saw Lyric sitting pitifully next to Nathaniel, looking nervous and uneasy.

She looked so pitiful, no matter how Grace looked at her.

And Nathaniel? Nathaniel was sitting next to Lyric, playing with her braid.

"Dad, Mom, Nathaniel..."

Lyric looked up at her when she heard her voice. "Ms. Lawson..."

Grace smiled at her slightly. "Lyric, you're back?"

Gregory and Harper looked at Lyric's vulnerable appearance, then glanced at the casual Nathaniel beside her.

They'd had some doubts initially about whether Lyric had used some tricks or schemes.

But looking at her now, even a blind person could see how pure Lyric's intentions were.

Just mentioning marriage had scared Lyric away.

Harper cleared her throat. "Lyric, do you not like Nathaniel?"

Lyric froze for a moment at the question. She turned to look at Nathaniel beside her in confusion.

Noticing her gaze, Nathaniel looked at her face. He curved his lips, leaned close to her ear, and even pinched her earlobe, saying in a low voice. "Why are you looking at me? Mom asked you a question. Do I need to answer for you too?"

Grace watched from the side, somewhat dumbfounded. 'Wait, are you two flirting right now?' She thought.

Obviously, Lyric was also embarrassed by his intimacy, her face turning red. She quickly shook her head. "No, no no..."

Nathaniel saw her so nervous she could barely speak, and he himself felt nervous and anxious, his neck flushing red.

His memory suddenly pulled him back to that night four months ago.

In his memory, there was also a tearful face, begging him so pitifully, unable to even speak a complete sentence.

Nathaniel looked at Lyric beside him, his eyes darkening imperceptibly.

His gaze swept over her slightly swollen belly, and after a few seconds, he smiled and said. "You don't like me?"

Lyric's body instantly stiffened, and she quickly shook her head to explain. "No, it's not that..."

"Then what is it?" Nathaniel's hand followed her braid down to rest on her lower back.

Four months pregnant, and her waist was still this thin?

It really was thin; in bed, he could grasp it with one hand.

Nathaniel had only officially dated three girlfriends, but he hadn't only been with three women; when single, he'd had regular female companions.

But his taste was consistent; he liked women with thin waists.

It was because Lyric's waist was so thin that it drove him to lose control that night, which was why they conceived after just one time.

Grace watched Nathaniel and Lyric and couldn't help but grab a cushion and throw it at Nathaniel. "Nathaniel, that's enough!"

Couldn't Grace see that Nathaniel was deliberately teasing Lyric?

Lyric was so nervous and anxious; how could he bear to keep teasing her?

Men really had that innate flaw in their nature!

She'd seen Nathaniel's previous girlfriends; he was gentle, considerate, and gentlemanly with them. How did he become a different person with Lyric?

Lyric was startled and shrank back.

Nathaniel simply pulled Lyric into his arms, glanced at Grace, and said calmly, "You scared Lyric."

"I..." Grace was almost furious at his twisting of the facts.

Gregory and Harper looked at Nathaniel and Lyric's intimate posture and exchanged glances.

"Nathaniel, so you and Lyric, you two..."

Nathaniel looked down at Lyric, so docile and heartbreakingly obedient in his arms, and remembered the couple who had burst into his office that day.

They pointed at him and accused him harshly, saying their always obedient and sensible daughter was pregnant.

They didn't dare tell anyone, quietly arranged for her to take a leave from school, and determined to have the baby.

Lyric's first act of defiance against her parents was refusing to have an abortion.

Lyric's second rebellion was actually leaving on her own, pregnant?

The Lawson family was now in chaos. Layla sat in the car, her stomach churning violently. After dry heaving for a while, she finally squeezed out through gritted teeth. "Seth, you bastard, I'm not done with you!"

Seth helped pat Layla's back. "I told you that you might be pregnant, and you didn't believe me. Now you can't worry less about Betty and Grace's affairs; our daughter is most important."

"Who said I'm having a daughter for you?" Layla playfully hit him.

Seth just curved his lips slightly and tapped the partition to the driver's seat. "To the marriage registration office."

The driver didn't dare say more and pressed hard on the gas pedal.

Layla angrily pinched Seth's arm. "Stop the car, who said I'm remarrying you."

The End
