Chapter 194

Chapter 194

Seth glanced at her, "Sure you want to play?"

Layla nodded, "I might not lose."

Seth raised an eyebrow, "Alright, let's do it."

Coralie was the first to raise her hand, "Me, me! I'll go first!"

The question Coralie came up with was pretty simple, but after a round, Layla realized this game was harder than it looked.

Because at the moment, she couldn't think of that many words.

Beatrice got stuck once and cheerfully drank a glass.

Layla also got stuck once. Just as she was about to drink, Seth blocked her.

Seeing this, Beatrice quickly said, "If someone drinks for you, it has to be double!"

Hearing this, Layla tried to drink it herself, "I can drink it."

Seth had already picked up the glass and downed two drinks.

Beatrice immediately applauded, "Come on, keep going!"

Layla glanced at Seth and said, "You don't need to drink for me."

Seth looked at her sideways. He saw her whole body was flushed and soft, probably from soaking in the hot spring. Even her speech wasn't as cold as before.

Layla's soft tone sounded like she was acting cute.

His throat moved slightly, "Aren't you afraid you'll get drunk?"

Layla was of course afraid she'd get drunk, but she shouldn't be unlucky enough to lose every time, right?

However, facts proved she was just that unlucky.

She could follow along with the words others said, but when it was her turn, her mind went completely blank.

But Seth kept drinking for her. Otherwise, with her alcohol tolerance, she'd probably be drunk by now.

By the end, Seth had basically finished that bottle of red wine.

Layla quickly waved her hand, "Forget it, my vocabulary is too limited. I'm out. You guys play, I'll just watch the fun."

So after she dropped out, Seth easily turned things around.

Beatrice became the one who lost.

Layla saw that her cheeks were bright red, her eyes starting to look unfocused. She needed Beckett to hold her to stand steady, and with slurred speech, she was still trying to organize another round.

Beckett looked at her through gritted teeth, "You're really bad at this, but love to play."

"Want to play! Whose turn is it? Hurry up!"

Beckett wanted to drink for her, but Beatrice wouldn't let him, no matter what.

Actually, Beatrice's alcohol tolerance was pretty good, but because everyone was in the hot spring pool, blood circulation was fast, and the alcohol took effect quickly too.

Until Beatrice couldn't fight anymore and passed out drunk, Beckett finally carried her out of the pool with a dark expression.

After leaving the pool, he glanced at everyone and said, "You guys take your time. I'll take her back to the room to rest first."

Layla also felt it was about time, because she felt a bit dizzy herself.

"I'll head back too." As she spoke, she slowly swam toward the edge.

But because her bathrobe had gotten wet when she came down, Seth said in a low voice behind her, "Wear mine."

Layla didn't refuse. They'd already done intimate things together, so what was wrong with wearing his bathrobe? She wasn't that uptight.

The moment Layla emerged from the water, her figure was still clearly visible.

But she quickly grabbed Seth's bathrobe and put it on, then turned to look at the people in the hot spring pool. "I'll get you a new one."

Seth said, "Just leave it at the door."

Layla nodded and turned to leave.

Coralie in Adrian's arms suddenly felt something was off about the atmosphere.

She couldn't help but sneak a glance at Seth. This man, whom all her classmates wanted to marry, was indeed extremely outstanding.

Although Seth was divorced and had a child.

But after watching for so long, she could tell that Seth hadn't forgotten his ex-wife at all.

"Wait for me first."

Hearing this, Coralie immediately nodded, "Then I'll go back to the room first."

After Coralie left, only Adrian and Seth remained in the huge pool.

After Layla got out of the pool, she went to ask the staff for a bathrobe.

When she returned and placed the bathrobe on the chair by the door, just as she was about to remind Seth, she heard a conversation coming from inside.

"Violette's death anniversary is coming up. You're not going this year?"

It was Adrian's voice. Death anniversary, Violette?

Were they talking about Violette? That woman who died young?

She stood up and held her breath. Somehow, she didn't turn and leave but stayed.

She knew this counted as eavesdropping.

"You going every year is enough," Seth spoke in a flat tone.

"Your ex-girlfriend, and you're not going to see her? You want me to go for you?"

"You don't have to go either."

Adrian looked at him with lowered eyes for a while before curling his lips, "Now all you have in your heart and eyes is Layla. You've completely forgotten about Violette, haven't you?"

Seth looked at him too, "Otherwise, should I remember her for the rest of my life?"

After saying this, he wanted to leave, not wanting to continue this boring topic.

Adrian glanced at the doorway and suddenly said, "Did you ever really love Violette?"

Seth paused. He looked back at him and said flatly, "When did I ever say I loved her?"

Adrian's eyes immediately darkened. His jaw tightened slightly as he sneered. "You didn't love Violette, yet you still competed with me for her?"

"Competed?" Seth asked flatly, "Was the person she liked you?"

Adrian narrowed his eyes, "If you didn't love her, why did you date her? If it weren't for you, she wouldn't have died. Seth, you're fully responsible for her death!"

Hearing this, Layla couldn't help but frown.

Seth's eyes darkened, "You found out?"

Adrian's expression grew colder, "Found out what? That you made Abigail and Violette destroy each other over you?"

Layla's heart jumped. Destroy each other?

Seth's jaw tightened slightly. He didn't speak for a moment.

Because this was indeed his miscalculation. If he had known Abigail was a lunatic who could harm even her own blood relatives, he would never have had any involvement with Abigail or Violette.

Adrian picked up his glass and drank it all. He spoke in a low voice. "To get you, Abigail didn't hesitate to tamper with Violette's car, wanting to harm her own sister. She probably didn't expect their parents would be in the car too."

Hearing this, Layla couldn't help but cover her mouth. She looked toward the curtain in shock.

Violette's death was caused by Abigail, and their parents were victims along with Violette?

Layla slowly clenched her fists. She felt that Abigail was truly a complete and utter lunatic!

"Three lives from one family, yet now you're telling me you never loved Violette? So why did you date her? If you hadn't dated her back then, Abigail wouldn't have gone crazy and hurt people because of you!"

After a long silence, Seth only said one sentence that Adrian couldn't understand. "I just wanted to know if I could ever love her."

Layla's eyes contracted sharply. If she had heard Seth say this before today, she definitely would have been very confused too.

But knowing he had emotional deficiency disorder, this sentence seemed easy to understand.

So he chose to be with Violette back then, not because of love?

But as some kind of experiment? He wanted to prove whether he could be cured, whether he could love someone?
