Chapter 285 Not Looking for Me?
Chapter 285 Not Looking for Me?
"Because we have a common enemy." Ruben looked straight at Hannah, his tone serious.
"Ms. Nguyen, I've seen the reports online. That idiot Ember..." He paused, not continuing further.
"Ember used to control Kyrandor's management, but later Grandfather took it back."
"If she becomes the heir of the Stone family, she'll only focus on men. The Stone family will really be at risk then."
He leaned forward slightly, his expression tightening.
"Ms. Nguyen, I saw your Instagram. Your new drugs have a clear price advantage. Give me exclusive sales rights in the Kyrandor market, and I'll help you deal with Ember's problem."
"Help me?" Hannah smiled and shook her head.
"Sorry, poor choice of words." Ruben immediately corrected himself. "Help us."
"The Stone family has been in pharmaceutical trade longer than the Lawson family, with more channels. Working with me will benefits both sides."
"As for Ember, she's our common opponent."
Hannah didn't respond. She picked up her coffee, the warmth and sweetness sliding down her throat and into her stomach.
She set down the cup before speaking. "For market expansion, I want thirty percent of the profits."
"No problem." Ruben agreed readily.
Now it was Hannah's turn to be surprised.
Her demand wasn't low. The profit margins on those two new drugs weren't that high—taking thirty percents was already close to the upper limit. Usually the other party would definitely negotiate the price down, but Ruben neither haggled nor hesitated.
He seemed to have read her thoughts, looking at her with a hint of helplessness.
"Ms. Nguyen, Ember and I have always been competitors. I don't have parents backing me up, I can only prove myself through performance."
"I finished reading Lumora Biotech Inc.'s materials on the way here. Your prospects are very promising."
"Ethan is also your partner. I have to fight for future partnership opportunities."
As soon as he finished speaking, someone walked up to the table.
"Fight with me? Are you sure?"
Ethan stood by the table, his gaze unfriendly.
After leaving the old mansion, he'd rushed straight to the hospital, only to come up empty. He called Cordelia and found out Hannah had been taken away by Ruben. Now, hearing that Ruben wanted to steal the partnership made him even more unhappy.
He sat down next to Hannah, staring at Ruben.
"Mr. Stone, what are you doing back in the country?"
"Work."
"Huh? What work do you have domestically?"
"Company confidential, can't disclose."
No matter how much Ethan pressed him, Ruben answered calmly. Hannah gained more respect for his composure.
Ethan was about to ask more when Hannah raised her hand to stop him.
"Mr. Stone came to discuss a partnership with me."
"I can partner with you too." Ethan's tone turned cold.
He knew clearly that Hannah's medical records had been exposed after she got hurt because of him. Now she was in trouble, and instead of coming to him, she was seeking cooperation with Ruben?
He picked up the cup on the table and drank the coffee.
Hannah's ears turned a bit red. She didn't explain in the end, but her expression had already been caught by Ruben.
So these two weren't a couple yet.
Ruben smiled and poured Ethan another cup of coffee. "Do you want anything else?"
"No." Ethan's voice was cold.
"Lumora Biotech Inc.'s pharmaceutical partnership in Kyrandor will be handled by the Lawson family. We don't need your channels."
"But you can't make that call right now, can you?" Ruben was still smiling.
"Daniel is dead, and I heard Ryan has been arrested too. You'll probably have to stay in the country."
"As for the higher-ups in Kyrandor, how many will listen to you?"
Ethan's expression darkened.
Ruben was indeed different from those born with silver spoons. Supposedly, he'd started doing business in college, building up his achievements step by step before gaining his family head's recognition. He understood better what benefited the family and how to win people over.
Seeing Ethan's silence, Ruben added, "Mr. Lawson, you should sort out your family matters first. Other partnerships, we can discuss later."
His gaze fell on Hannah's calm face.
"Ms. Nguyen, what do you think?"
"Tell me your plan then." Hannah got straight to the point.
Ruben immediately understood she was asking how he'd deal with Ember.
"Her advantage in the Stone family is that she's the family head's granddaughter, with her parents backing her. But she hasn't contributed any actual results to the family."
"The Stone family has invested in quite a few hospitals these past two years, including the one you're currently at. What if leaking patient privacy wasn't the first time for this hospital?"
Hannah's eyes lit up—this was exactly her line of thinking. She'd had the Harvey family investigate. The only way Ember could get her medical records was through the hospital. And the Stone family had been heavily investing in the medical sector these past few years, investing in several domestic hospitals with consistently good reputations.
But what if the Stone family's hospitals' reputations collapsed because of Ember?
"Some internal materials would take time to access, even for us."
Ruben's attitude was frank. "Public opinion has the biggest impact. They suppressed Daniel's matter immediately. This can't be dragged on."
Hannah looked at Ruben seriously.
Ruben and Ember did share some similarities—both had beautiful noses and mouths. Ember's eyes were big and round, making it easy to soften people's hearts when she played innocent. But this Ruben... she couldn't quite read him yet.
Only a few hours had passed, and he'd already figured out her situation with suppressing the trending topics for Ethan and the Lawson family's circumstances. This person was not someone simple to deal with.
She glanced at her phone. Lumora Biotech Inc. and Harvey Corporation's stock prices were still being affected.
"Mr. Stone, you have five hours."
She pressed her phone screen. "If the goal is achieved, come to Silverlight City headquarters tomorrow to sign the contract."
"No problem."
Ruben stood up. "Time is tight, so I won't disturb you two any longer."
"The food's already been ordered, this meal's on me." He gestured toward Cordelia and Sophia. "Including those two ladies."
Cordelia looked at him helplessly. She was wearing sunglasses and a mask—Ruben wouldn't recognize her, would he?
Sophia looked at Ruben and mentally gave him five stars: reliable, hardworking, capable, detail-oriented, and—on top of that—ridiculously good-looking...
Wasn't this exactly the type Hannah fell for easily?
Bang! The table shook. Sophia suddenly slapped the table hard, startling Cordelia.
"What's wrong?"
"Oh, no!" Sophia lowered her voice. "This is the same type of man as Nicholas was."
Hannah wouldn't fall for this type again, would she?
She turned to look at Ethan. Ethan's face was tense.
"Hannah, what do you take me for? Something this big happened, and you go to him instead of me?"
