Chapter 97 CHAPTER 97

Chapter 97 CHAPTER 97
Callum’s POV

I text Aurora discreetly, asking her to have lunch with me. She accepts and I drop my phone on the table with a grin. Seated in front of me is Flora, the girl I mean to use to achieve my aim with Andrew.

“Do you want to order?” Flora asks. We were in a restaurant after all.

“You can order after the discussion is over. I didn’t come here just to have a meal with you,” I reply rudely. She looks away as I continue talking, “You will work to do considering Andrew. I have succeeded in leaving a crack between him and…”

“He and who?” Flora asks curiously.

“No, never mind. You don’t need to know,” I reply coldly.

“Andrew has another girl, doesn’t he?” Flora asks suspiciously. “That’s the reason behind all these. You wish to break them apart by involving him.”

“I don’t need you to be so intelligent,” I say. “But since you know it already, I might as well say you’re right about it. Now that you know what I want, you should help me achieve it as soon as possible.”

“Of course, I should. That way, I will get paid faster,” Flora says, her tone stinking of motivation. “So tell me, did you manage to drive a wedge between them?”

I nod, “I believe I did but it won’t last.”

“Why not?” she asks curiously.

“They are bound by proximity. They see each other a lot and that will result into their hearts softening. That’s why we have to attack right now when there is still unresolved tension between them,” I explain calmly.

“Both of us have separate targets but you want us to strike at the same time?” Flora asks curiously.

“Exactly!” I affirm. “I am seeing the other target this afternoon. Your job is to meet with Andrew tonight. I’m sure he is heartbroken right now so it might be easy to get into his head.”

“It depends. Right now, do you think he is angry at her or not?” she asks.

“How does that matter?” I ask in reply.

“It is one of two things,” Flora says, sounding like an expert. “If he isn’t angry at her, it is highly possible what he would want is comfort. That way, I will play a perfect role. However, if he has anger inside him, it is possible all he would want is someone to unleash his fury upon.”

“It doesn’t matter which one it is. Just play your part well,” I tell her firmly.

“No, if he is angry, I do not wish to be the person he releases his pent-up frustration on. You might not know but the fury of a woman…” she was saying enthusiastically.

“They say a patient woman can pluck hair from a wild lion successfully. There is a tale like that,” I try to motivate her.

“Except this is real life not a fucking tale!” she shouts at me.

“And Andrew is human not a fucking lion!” I reply firmly. “You will have to make it work, Flora. That is what I pay you for.”

“Except you intend to pay me only when the whole thing is over. Who knows? This whole affair might be a scam,” Flora mutters in doubt. I might have to make a compromise here.

“Alright, you pull this off, you get a bonus. Unlike the real payment, it will be paid right away,” I tell her calmly. A smile appears on her face the moment she hears it. Indeed, money is great motivation for everyone, more so for a woman like Flora.

“You are here… and alone,” I mutter, looking at Aurora on the other side of the table.

“Yeah, I almost had Jayden tag along,” she replies with a grin. “Even now, all I can think about is if he is fine.”

“Where is he right now?” I ask curiously.

“With Professor Alaric,” she replies. “I can trust him. He has helped me so many times. He loves Jayden.”

I look into her eyes and I can sense her uneasiness.

“Even though you say you trust him, a part of you is anxious. You keep on saying it, hoping you would believe it yourself,” I tell her calmly.

She sighs, “I really trust Professor Alaric, I mean it. But I find myself thinking these negative thoughts. What if kidnappers attack while I’m absent, beat the professor up, and take Jayden away? I don’t know what I will do if that happens and who knows? It might be happening right now.”

It was this moment I realize how much I have scarred her. It will probably take a while for her to recover.

“I’m sure nothing is happening right now,” I say confidently. “If you are that worried, how about you give them a call?”

“May I?” she asks but doesn’t wait for a confirmation before she pulls out her phone. She speaks to Professor Alaric for about two minutes and at the end of the call, she has a smile on her face. She turns to me, “I feel better now.”

“Then we should order,” I suggest.

Aurora has a hard time ordering and in the end, she picks the same thing I ordered. We do not talk much as the meal was the highlight. Tasty food like this wasn’t found everywhere.

We wrap it up with a conversation and all that while, I wait for updates from Flora. She finally confirms that Andrew has appeared at the bar and she was about to approach him. It is time I make my move.

With a smile on my face, I ask Aurora to have a drink with me at the bar. The plan is simple. I will have Aurora see Andrew flirting with another woman and that way, she will realize that Andrew is only a scumbag and she will abhor no more thoughts about having him.

But Aurora stuns me with her reply.

“No, I can’t go. I will spend the evening with Jayden.”
