Chapter 30 INVOLVED
“Let this part be my responsibility; focus on your work and locate the aggressor. I want to gather all possible information about him!” I sighed, somewhat breathless.
“Don't overexert yourself, my friend!” Greg cautioned. “I'll take care of all the details and will contact you soon.”
“Greg, if there's a gap in Elisabeth's existence, that doesn't rule out a possible connection between her and Heloise. She might not even know who my ex really is.” I maintained a firm tone. “Stay alert!”
“Yes, sir!”
Finally, we ended the call. Minutes later, Elisabeth knocked on the door, carrying a stack of paperwork, with a serious and professional expression.
“Mr. Morgan, the more detailed investigations on lawyer Phill Cast.” Without looking away from the documents, she spoke, standing up to face me.
I looked at her carefully: smooth skin, average height, a body balanced between not too bulky and not too thin. Fair skin, short black hair, and very full, reddish lips. I sighed. Who would have the courage to brutally assault such a beautiful and sweet woman? Who would harbor such rage towards this charming woman?
“Mr. Morgan? Are you okay?” Elisabeth brought me back from my reverie.
POV: ELISABETH
My body tingled and throbbed in protest at the interruption of the pleasure explosion. Patrick toyed with my desires, and I was frustrated with how my body reacted to his touches. Despite my mind's screams to repel and maintain professionalism, my body surrendered completely.
I couldn't deny that I appreciated the extra attention I received from my boss. It wasn't just because of his looks or the clever way he knew how to touch a woman so pleasurably, but also because of the security he conveyed, something I hadn't experienced in years.
This sense of security was perhaps the reason I allowed myself to surrender like this. I felt protected in his strong arms, as if nothing, not even my past, could reach me. A tremor ran through my body again, and I nervously looked at the door, constantly feeling pursued. Living on alert, it seemed that at any moment, a monster from the past would come through the door, ready to cause irreparable damage.
I shuddered once more, jumping when the phone alarm rang. I turned it off, still trembling with excitement and the subtle fear of reliving my greatest nightmare.
“Anyway, time to work,” I said softly, taking the dishes to the sink.
I picked up the documents about the lawyer from the notebook, staring at them. I quickly hid it, fearing that Mr. Morgan would take it again to read my stories. Furthermore, I bit my lip in anticipation, imagining that this would force him to make me read them aloud to him. The curiosity about his upcoming lessons made my inner self pulse.
“Damn!” I grumbled, rubbing one leg against the other, still feeling the moisture. I ran to clean myself up since my esteemed boss had confiscated all my pants. “A complete and wonderful idiot!”
I ran my hands through my hair and touched up my makeup. It was strange, but I felt the need to look flawless, to be beautiful, and to be noticed by this man, the only one in years who had aroused such desire in me, surpassing even my traumatic barriers.
I knocked on the door, but there was no response from Patrick. I knocked a little harder and entered, still looking down and embarrassed. Furthermore, I continued like this, fearing that he would notice my persistent excitement.
“Damn, I need to stop thinking about these things!” I straightened the papers automatically, talking about the lawyer. With his delayed response, I raised my eyes to look at him. The CEO had a deep gaze, capable of piercing flesh as if he were reading souls. It was sharp and seductive. I bit my lip again, catching his attention until I broke the moment.
“Mr. Morgan, is everything okay?” I said it timidly, trying to regain a professional tone.
“Yes,” He cleared his throat, reaching out to grab the papers. “Thank you for the more thorough research. When did you print them?”
“Before going down for breakfast, sir,. I like to be prepared for the day before work hours begin.” I smiled subtly, feeling my face blush, wishing I were the papers where he wet his fingers on his lips and turned them.
“Miss Elisabeth, if you continue to stare at me like that, I'm afraid I'll have to end our workday earlier than planned and start your lessons right now!” Patrick raised his eyes, which burned my skin, trailing down the middle of my legs as if he were undressing me from where I stood. “What do you prefer?”
I turned my head in embarrassment, putting my arms behind my back. I heard his low laughter until he continued:
“Based on this research, Phill is leaning more towards the Forbs' side, or rather, their CEO.” Rubbing his temples, my boss seemed tired at the start of the day. “Mrs. Lis, did you manage to schedule our trip?”
“Yes, sir, I booked one of the best hotels in Cuba, as per your request and preference. We'll be leaving on Monday morning.” I furrowed my brow, intrigued. “Sorry, but what does the trip have to do with what we found out about Mr. Phill?”
“Put yourself in my place. What would you do?” Patrick raised an eyebrow, leaning back in his chair with his boss-like demeanor.
“With this evidence, Mr. Phill would lose his lawyer's OAB, could no longer practice, and would be indicted, even imprisoned, for passing on our confidential information to another company.” I ran my fingers over my lips, tapping lightly before dragging them through my hair, smiling as I realized where my boss was going. “But, if we do that, we'll miss the opportunity to use the lawyer as bait to find out the real motives of CEO Celdric. So, do you allow me to proceed with the negotiation? You are deliberately leaking some information to Mr. Phill, aren't you?”
“That's my astute apprentice!” He smiled broadly, standing up and coming towards me, stopping inches away, and tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. “Let's give them enough rope to hang themselves, Miss Lis.”
The CEO subtly rubbed his nose against mine, tickling. I smiled at his playful manner before taking a step back.
“But what about the trip? I refuse to believe it's just for cigars!” I crossed my arms, analyzing him.
“Well observed.” Patrick pulled me against his body, leaning on the edge of the table, where he fit me between his legs. Stroking my hair, he whispered in my ear. “It's the perfect opportunity to see you only in a bikini!”
I shivered, feeling my core throb at his husky voice in my ear.
“I've already said I won't wear this piece of cloth!” I argued, trying to pull away but being held in his strong arms.
“I like it when you contradict me, Mrs. Lis...” Kissing my neck, he ran the tip of his tongue from my chin to the start of my lips. “You're becoming quite a distraction, miss!”
