Chapter 27 THE PROTECTOR
POV: PATRIK
I patiently waited until Elisabeth's body completely relaxed, surrendering to deep sleep. I've always admired her strong personality and innate talent, which have impressed me since our first meeting during her interview at the company. Her exceptional professional trajectory was just part of the fascination; her insightful gaze into the future also earned my admiration.
As I descended to investigate possible intruders in the kitchen, I noticed that the doorknob had been forced from the outside, indicating a forced entry. Amid the search for any sign of danger in the house, the hypothesis of a thief or intruder who imagined the property as deserted and vulnerable emerged.
Despite Lis believing we were isolated, Greg and his team remained camped nearby, vigilant, while strategically positioned cameras in the trees ensured our safety. I could not afford any negligence, especially when my enemies planned to harm both me and my company.
I sighed deeply, stroking the hair of the beautiful woman resting in my arms, seeking comfort in my chest.
“Who caused you such fear?” I murmured, absorbing the scent of her hair.
Although it was inappropriate to get emotionally involved, I knew I should focus on preparing Elisabeth for her imminent future. Our thorough research confirmed her reliability, but after that book and that story were in my hands, something stirred within me. The interest in getting to know her intriguing and, surprisingly, malicious mind more deeply grew. I found out that she had not had pleasant experiences, which increased my determination to guide and educate her in all unimaginable aspects.
As Elisabeth softly moaned in her sleep, drifting away from my chest, I smiled as I observed her newly revealed curves. I carefully covered her, got up silently, and, grabbing my phone, went downstairs, examining the environment again while dialing Greg.
“Have you identified the intruder?” I went straight to the point, manifesting my impatience.
“We are not amateurs, Mr. Patrik...” Greg began to explain, but I was abrupt in my response.
“However, you allowed an intruder to pass. This is not acceptable from professionals of your caliber!” I exclaimed, visibly irritated.
There was a brief silence as Greg assessed my tone before responding.
“Was there any direct issue with you or Miss Elisabeth?”
“Fortunately, no, but it left her shaken. I want you to investigate Elisabeth's past again. Find out why this beautiful woman was so terrified at the possibility of an intrusion, as if she were being pursued by someone!” I growled, expressing my irritation.
“The man who broke in was a known drifter in this area, sir. We escorted him to a safe location. As for Miss Elisabeth's past, I will personally take care of the investigation and return shortly with the results,” Greg explained, trying to dispel my concerns.
“Also, talk to her grandmother; even in her illness, she may reveal something that helps us unravel the mysteries of her past,” I sighed, glancing at the stairs and pondering. “I need to ensure that my investment of time is not in vain with her.”
“Do you suggest that Mrs. Elisabeth is a Heloise infiltrator?” Greg questioned, reflecting. “I do not believe that to be possible; our team has thoroughly analyzed her history.”
“Even so, something slipped through, like the incident with the drifter today. I will not tolerate any more failures!” I pressed the phone, hearing movements upstairs. “I await a complete report as soon as possible.”
“Yes, my lord...”
As I hung up the phone, the door opened, and Elisabeth cautiously approached the stairs, holding a lamp in her hands.
“Wow, you were really serious about killing your boss, weren't you?” I smiled, startling her, as I turned on the light.
“Mr. Patrik, what are you doing awake at this hour? Why are you down here? Did another creature invade the cabin?” Her voice trembled, and subtle spasms ran through her body. Elisabeth stared at me with wide, teary eyes. “I'm sorry for making you sleep with me; I didn't mean to be inconvenient.”
I smiled at her comment, determined to tease her:
“You can take me to your bed whenever you want, Mrs. Lis. It's an invitation I will never refuse!” I winked, moving towards her, taking the lamp from her hands, and wrapping my arm around her waist, bringing our bodies closer. “I came down to get some water, but you woke up before. I didn't want to make any sudden movements to scare you again.”
“I...” She bit her lip, slightly blushing, becoming even more charming with her teary eyes. “I'm sorry.”
“Stop apologizing; it's annoying...” I pressed her hip against my body, feeling the warmth envelop us. I brushed my lips against hers before resting our foreheads together. “So, do you want?”
“Do I want?” Elisabeth widened her eyes, showing shyness, while her face turned a deep blush.
“What a mischievous mind, Miss Elisabeth.” I smiled provocatively. “Do you want water?”
“Water... Yes, please!” She remained still and close to me, showing an evident fear of moving away.
Caressing her chin with my thumb, I slid my hand down her neck, reaching her shoulders, and gently pulled her.
“Let's go get it together... Who knows, maybe the ghost is in the kitchen!” I stared at her, making her smile, feel more relaxed.
“You're not afraid of intruders, but you're scared to death of ghosts?” She stopped at the kitchen door, crossing her arms and raising her eyebrows challengingly, trying to disguise the slight tremors running through her body.
“Well, I can drive away or confront intruders… Now, spirits?” I ran my hands through my hair, catching her attention. “What could I do? Leave the cabin for them?”
“Mr. Morgan, are you suggesting you would leave me here alone if they were spirits?” Elisabeth might not have realized, but her nightgown, with its spontaneous movements, made her more sensual under the soft moonlight streaming through the kitchen windows.
In a quick gesture, I pressed her against the wall, smiling, while holding her face in my hands and admiring her features. She was a unique beauty, with hazel eyes that were piercing and seductive.
“No, I would be incapable of leaving you alone in danger.” The words escaped in a whisper, and I was surprised by a smile as she leaned forward, touching our lips in a soft, pleasurable, and delicate kiss.
I ran my hands down her back and up to her neck, gently pulling her hair and deepening our kiss, exploring every corner and savoring her. Between the spaced-out sighs to breathe, Elisabeth moaned, intensifying my desire to consume her.
I bit her lower lip, sliding the strap of her nightgown off her shoulders, leaving it half-hanging and revealing her beautiful, erect breasts, ready to be explored. I licked my lips, pulling away slightly to look into her eyes. Despite her usual shyness, there was no sign that she wanted to interrupt the moment. I returned to her lips, dragging the kisses to her neck and reaching her breasts, playing with the tip of my tongue on them, provoking delicious sensations.
Elisabeth grabbed my hair, pulling me closer, and smiled, teasing her even more. My hands roamed her skin eagerly, sucking and nibbling, alternating between caresses and passes of the tongue.
“Mr. Morgan...” She moaned breathlessly, lifting one leg and writhing in desire.
With a firm movement, I removed her nightgown, leaving her completely naked. Her body reacted to the cold, shivering subtly, but the softness of her skin was a delight as I kissed all over her body, wanting to turn her on the wall and invade her with intensity.
