I was awoken to Maximo picking me up. “Let me go.” I groaned. He put me down and I climbed down the plane steps to the black SUV. Tazio was waiting.
“Hello, Fallon, who was your trip?”
“What trip, Tazio? My honeymoon was cut 5 days short.” I said bluntly. He frowned. I could tell he didn’t want to have us back this soon, but there must have not been a choice.
I climbed into the SUV and crossed my arms over my chest. Tazio climbed in behind me. “Maximo will meet you at home later.” Tazio said sorrily.
“Whatever, Tazio.” I said, leaning against the window. I didn’t even care at this point. I could already tell this life was only going to fill me with disappointment. The car soon pulled up to the house. Tazio unpacked out bags as I walked inside, heading towards my room. I opened the door and found my room to have been stripped of everything. All of my things gone. I found the closest maid, “Where are my things?” I demanded. She pointed to a room at the beginning of the hallway. I walked to the room, noticing it was Jesus’s old room.
I walked inside. It was beautiful. The floor was white marble, the furniture was dark, the linens were dark blue, and the bathroom and closets were bigger than in the other rooms. The room was big enough it had a desk in the corner and a sitting area.
I walked into the closet that was full of my clothes and Maximo’s clothes. They moved us into a room together? Woah. This was all happening so fast. I found a security guard and asked him where Jesus was. “Miami.” He answered. Jesus moved to Miami? Why? I pulled out my phone to call Maximo. He ignored my call.
I walked down the hall to James’s room. He wasn’t there. Neither was Miles or Claire. I called James. “Hello?” He answered, he sounded like he was at a party. I heard music and laughter, it sounded like a dream.
“Hey where are you?”
“We went to a beach party down the way. Why, were are you?”
“We had to come back early. I’m here in the empty house. What is the address? I will meet you all there.”
“Oh sure, it is 4 houses to the left. Just walk the beach.” He said cheerfully. I haven’t heard James this happy in a long time. I grabbed a pair of flip-flops and changed my shirt. I walked out the back door onto the beach to the house. It was a party alright. There was probably 200 people there. There were lights and music. I walked into the house looking for James. I found him at the pool table with Miles and 2 other guys who looked like bouncers. They were big and buff.
James grabbed my hand and kissed my cheek. “Is this your girl?” One of the guys asked, smiling big. I blushed and James gave a sad laugh. Miles gave me a hug.
“Used to be, until we came to Mexico.” They all laughed and took a shot. I guess I had walked in on some sad drinking game.
“Where is Claire?” I asked.
“She was at the bar talking to the bartender.” Miles told me in my ear. “You look great.” He said with a small smile. I returned his smile and told him I’d be right back. I wondered around until I found the bar. Claire was talking to a cute guy with shaggy blonde hair.
“Hey!” I said grabbing her waist.
“Hey! What are you doing back?!” She screeched, giving me a big hug. “You look beautiful!” She said excitedly.
“Who is this beauty?” The bartender asked. Claire laughed like a witty school girl.
“This is Fallon, my boss.” She said giving the guy a small smile. I waved at him.
“Hi, and what is your name?” I held out my hand for him to shake.
“Derek.” He said with a smile, kissing the back of my hand. What a flirt. I pulled my hand back and grabbed a bottle of tequila with my other hand, showing off my beautiful ring. “Oh, married. It’s always the beautiful ones that are married.” He gave me a soft smile.
“Well good thing Claire, the beauty, is single.” I gave her a small smile and pushed my hip into her. “Hey, I’m going to go play pool with James and Miles, are you good?”
She nodded her head, “Yeah, I’m so good.” She said with a big smile looking back at Derek. I took the bottle of tequila, salt, shot glasses, and some limes back to the pool table.
“Shots?” I asked, which was returned with 4 big smiles.
“So, you’re Mrs. Hernandez?” One of the big guys asked. I nodded my head and rolled my eyes.
“I am a businesswoman first; I will always be Fallon Martin at heart.” He started to laugh, grabbing my hand and leading me back to the pool table. He poured us some shots and handed them out. “Salud!” He yelled, which we all copied. I soon learned the guys names to be Halid and Jason.
I was having so much fun, I didn’t hear my phone ring. I had missed 5 calls from Maximo.
