Nolan felt all his blood make a beeline for his dick as she called his name. It was the first time she had, and it had a bigger effect than he had expected.

He shifted in his seat and did his best to recall the conversation instead of listening to the echo of her calling his name.

"I prefer you," he replied.

Rosa stiffened and her smile vanished. Everything he said annoyed her to no end. He must think she was stupid.

"A beta who is also a stripper? Surely the Mafia King has better taste."

He blew out smoke. "Has no one ever told you you're beautiful despite your obvious shortcomings?" His tone matched hers.

Rosa looked away as she fought back a smile. He was quick with it. It bothered her. She had been snarky since she walked in, but not once had he looked annoyed.

Instead, he matched her while looking incredibly pleased with himself. Did he not have any ego that she could tear apart?

"If you're looking for beautiful," she said while looking away from him, "I am sure the omegas you brought quite fit your description."

"Are you jealous?" He asked with a smirk. "If you want me to be rid of them this instant, they will be gone with the snap of my fingers."

"Jealous?" She asked with a small smile. "You seem to misunderstand our relationship. You're an overbearing client and I simply provide certain services."

"Overbearing? Ah. I apologize about last time. I may have gotten ahead of myself."

His eyes shifted to her breasts. Rosa felt her eye twitch. He was making a fool of her.

"Apology not accepted," she replied.

"That's too bad. I was thinking we could put our differences behind us."

"Differences?" She stared at him with a dumbfounded expression. "Is that what you'd call an action that borders on sexual assault?"

Nolan pulled the cigar from his lips and his face turned serious. "No. You are right. I should never have done that. I am sorry. I truly didn't want to make you uncomfortable."

She narrowed her eyes as she looked at him. Firstly, he was too quick with the apology for it to be a real one. Despite the intense look in his eyes as he apologized which was almost believable, he was still a Mafia King and that was enough for concern.

However, she was quite aware there was only so much tantrum she could get away with and all he had to do was report to Franco and she was bound to have an earful or worse.

She sighed. "Okay," she mumbled.

"Phew. Should we shake on it?"

She glanced at his outstretched hand and she stared at it with disgust. "I wouldn't touch you with a pole stick."

His grip on his cigar tightened and Nolan genuinely felt his patience evaporate, but he couldn't deny that the satisfaction he would get when he bent her to his will would be worth it.

So he forced his feelings into a box and tossed it out the window while he left the smile on his face. He turned his attention to the table filled with several kinds of alcohol.

"A drink then? Should we drink to it instead?" He adjusted his coat and glanced at her lazily.

"Okay," she replied, sizing him up.

She didn't believe his apology and she had a feeling it was said so she wouldn't be defensive in his presence, but even if he had meant it, it would be stupid of her not to keep her defenses up.

"Whiskey or is wine better? I hear women prefer wine."

He was such a man; it irked her. She could hear the condescension in his voice. "Whiskey."

"Oh," he said and signalled for one of his men to pour them a drink.

Rosa accepted the glass with ice from the young man with a smile and he blushed before he pulled his hand away. He then gave Nolan his drink and his expression darkened as he met the Alpha's gaze before he pulled away.

Nolan nearly crushed the drink in his hand. All she gave him was polite stiff smiles, not genuine, but she easily smiled at his employee.

Rosa put the rock glass to her lips and took a generous sip. It was her first drink for the night, which meant unless the drink was laced, she could go on for the rest of night.

"Have you heard from Layla?"

She turned to him. She didn't expect him to blatantly ask her. They were both pretending not to know each other outside of the club.

"Shouldn't you have access to that information?"

"Unfortunately, no. Because the attack happened in my house, Alpha Davian won't speak to me and I worry."

Rosa hadn't seen Layla since the attack, no thanks to Davian, but Layla made sure to at least text her every day. She was fine and the baby was okay. Her head injury needed another week to fully heal, but otherwise, she was pretty fine.

She also found out Arthur had been the one behind her attack and that Davian had taken care of him. She doubted Layla knew that meant Arthur was dead and she didn't press.

As much as she was against killing, there was no question about whether Arthur deserved to die. She would have put the bullet in his skull if she had the opportunity.

"She is fine," she replied.

"And the baby?"

Rosa placed the empty rock glass louder than she needed to on the table. If he knew about the baby, how did he not know if Layla was fine? He was messing with her.

"Same," she said coldly.

"Would you want another drink?"

"Is that all you want?" she asked him with a glare.

"Well, it would be rude of me to ask for another lap dance when you have explicitly stated you wouldn't touch me. Or is drinking too much? You don't need to drink."

"I'd like another," she replied.

She knew better than to take the bait, but Rosa was quite confident in her drinking skills. She was not worried about getting drunk.

"Wonderful," he replied.

The same young man stepped forward and poured out their drinks, handing Rosa her glass before the Mafia King.

He was quick to step to the back after he was done and Rosa noticed that he didn't meet her gaze as easily as the first time. She refused to think too much about it.

She was not here to analyze the Alpha or his men. She was simply here to make up for sending Tracy instead of doing her task. She couldn't wait for the night to be over.

She threw the alcohol to the back of her throat, feeling the warmth pour down. Maybe, if she got tipsy enough, she might find him slightly bearable.
