Chapter 70 Olivia Drunk
Chapter 70 Olivia Drunk
Celeste froze for a moment, only then realizing that Zane wasn't home.
"Mr. Martin went out," the servant said carefully.
Celeste immediately sat up, ignoring the pain in her body. "He went out right after beating us? Where did he go?"
The servant kept her head down. "Mr. Martin didn't say. He just had the driver take him downtown."
Celeste and Haven exchanged glances, both seeing unease in each other's eyes.
Haven bit her lip. "Mom, maybe Dad went out to clear his head? Today's events hit him pretty hard, too."
Celeste let out a cold laugh. "Clear his head? How nice for him! He beats us up like this, then runs off to enjoy himself!"
Haven was silent for a moment, then suddenly stood up. "I'm going to find Dad."
"What are you going to find him for?" Celeste grabbed her.
"Mom, think about it. Right now, Dad is all we can rely on. We probably can't count on the Allen family anymore, and the company's business has been affected as well. If Dad doesn't care about us either, what are we going to do?"
Celeste's heart sank. She knew Haven was right.
"But look at the state you're in." Celeste looked at the bruises on Haven's body.
A flash of cunning crossed Haven's eyes. "That's exactly why I need to go find him. When men hit women, they usually feel regret after they sober up. If I go find him now and let him see what he's done to me, he'll definitely feel bad."
Celeste thought for a moment and nodded. "You're right. While he still feels a bit guilty, let's get some benefits out of it."
Haven immediately had the servant help her get ready, deliberately leaving the bruises on her face uncovered. For a better effect, she even did her makeup perfectly. She wanted Zane to see what he had done to her.
"Mr. Martin went to Starlight Bar," the driver said quietly.
Haven noted the address and left right away.
The whole way there, she thought about what to say and how to act like a hurt but still caring daughter. As long as she could sweet-talk Zane and get more money, she could start over.
The car soon arrived at the Starlight Bar. Haven straightened her clothes, ready to go in and find Zane. She had just walked into the lobby when she saw a familiar figure.
Eric?
What was he doing here?
Eric was sitting at the bar with several empty bottles in front of him, completely drunk.
"Eric?" Haven walked over, a glimmer of hope rising in her heart.
Was he upset over her?
Eric looked up, his eyes unfocused as he looked at her, then suddenly laughed. "Haven? No, you're not Haven. You're a fraud! A plagiarist!"
Haven's face darkened. "Eric, you're drunk."
"I'm not drunk! I'm perfectly clear! I finally see it—you're not good enough for me!"
Haven gritted her teeth and lowered her voice. "Eric, watch your image."
Eric scoffed. "My image was ruined by you long ago! My mom was right. I never should have gotten engaged to you! I should...should have been with Lily!"
Haven's heart dropped.
"What did you say?"
A flash of regret crossed Eric's eyes. "Lily is the one with real talent. How was I so blind to choose a fake like you?"
"I regret it. I really regret it. If I had been nicer to Lily back then, maybe I'd be with her now."
"She's so talented, so kind. But I hurt her. I'm such a jerk!"
Eric got more and more worked up, tears streaming down his face. "I still like her, I always have! But I don't have a chance anymore! She has a husband now. She'll never forgive me!"
Haven stood there, her face looking terrible.
She never imagined that Eric, while getting engaged to her on the surface, had been in love with Lily all along!
So in his eyes, she was just a fake!
"Eric! Snap out of it!"
But Eric had already collapsed on the bar, passed out drunk.
Haven stood there, trembling all over. Today, she had already lost first place in the design competition, lost her engagement, been beaten by Zane, and now even her fiancé was thinking about another woman!
And that woman was none other than Lily, the one she hated most!
"Why, why is it always her!" Haven ground her teeth in hatred.
Meanwhile, in Lily's booth.
Olivia had already drunk quite a bit, her cheeks red as apples.
"You've had too much. Let me take you home," Lily suggested.
But Olivia suddenly grabbed her phone and stumbled to the side. "I'll call Lloyd and have him pick me up," she said, slurring her words.
Lily was a bit worried, but seeing her insist, she didn't stop her.
The call connected, and Olivia immediately switched to a wheedling tone. "Lloyd, I've had too much to drink. Can you come pick me up?"
Lloyd's cold voice came through the phone. "I'm on a business trip out of town. I can't make it. Find a hotel and sleep it off."
Olivia froze. "But, but I miss you."
"Stop making a fuss. I've got things to do here. You're an adult—can't you take care of yourself?" Lloyd sounded very impatient.
With that, he hung up directly.
Olivia held the phone, completely frozen. After a few seconds, she suddenly burst into tears, stumbling back to the booth and throwing her arms around Lily.
"Lily... Lloyd doesn't want me anymore..." She cried her eyes out. "He said he's on a business trip... but when I called him, I think I heard a woman laughing..."
Lily's heart tightened as she patted her back. "Olivia, did you hear wrong?"
Olivia cried even harder. "I don't know. Do you think he doesn't care about me? We've been engaged for so long, and he's never once taken the initiative to care about me."
"He only cares about his career, his social obligations. What am I to him?"
Listening to Olivia's tearful complaints, Lily felt both heartbroken and angry. She grabbed Olivia's phone and hung up on the number still in the call history.
Lily held her tight. "Olivia, stop crying. We're not going home tonight. I'll take you to a hotel to rest."
Olivia clung to her, crying like a child. "Lily, why is he treating me like this?"
"It's okay, Olivia. There are plenty of men out there! You're so great—worst case, dump him! He'll be the one with regrets later!"
"Right!" Olivia's mood immediately changed. She wiped her tears like flipping a switch. "There are billions of men in this world! I don't need Lloyd! It's just a business marriage anyway. Nobody's stuck with anybody!"
Armando and the others, seeing the situation, awkwardly said their goodbyes.
Before leaving, Armando asked with concern, "Lily, do you need help?"
"Thanks, I..." Lily was about to decline when she realized Olivia had gone completely limp against her, unable to stand at all.
